Chapter 4 - The Hunt

Aurelius decided to zone off when Ambrosius moved to teaching telepathy. He had already practiced this since he was half a year old and could do this instinctively.

"Cerci, I messed up." Aurelius said. " Asking for a fused supernatural world might have created unknown variables and factors that I have no knowledge of." He explained.

"Young Lord, what do you want to do then? Does this information change your plans for the future?" Cerci questioned.

"Hah! What plans I was planning to cruise through through life until about couple hundred years having fun. But now that can't possible happen since our family is clearly against the current order." Aurelius sighed.

"So what would the Young Lord like to do next." Cerci asked.

"I need information on the family business, the friends we have and our enemies. No matter how insignificant it is I need to know." Aurelius explained. "Please get this information as soon as possible while you are working on this I will speed up my attempts to learn Empathy. This should let me know surface level emotions and better judge the loyalty of servants." He added.

"Young Lord will have the information by tomorrow morning." Cerci said.

She then disappeared into Aurelius' clothing. Aurelius having delegated the next tasks he shifted his attention to the lecture. Ambrosius was still continue to advise the plus points and techniques for telepathy. Finding it a waste of time Aurelius using telepathy to ask Ambrosius if he could explain the techniques of empathy.

"Young Lord, since you asked for the next subject I must assume you have a rudimentary understanding of telepathy?" Ambrosius questioned back telepathically.

"Yes. I have wanted to try to use empathy but didn't know how to start." He answered

Ambrosius answered, "In that case the Young Lord, should first try to identify the emotions you yourself experience then try to observe for signs in others. Though I do suggest that the Young Lord work towards Telekinesis as it is a more smoother progression then Empathy." He added.

"I will take it into consideration." Aurelius said.

Next morning Aurelius didn't have to ask when Cerci reported.

"Young Lord, I have ascertain that within the city as well as the surrounding major cities there are no true enemies of the family. The main reason for this is that the family if of Duke level nobility while the closest noble of similar standing is half a year journeys away." She said. "The same can be said about the friends of the family, however there is on merchant family that the family granted a Baron title who are beholden to us. Next the Young Lord asked for the family business, well surface level research resulted in two main sectors real estate and ship building. While behind the scene the family also has ownership of a merchant group and the port harbour." Cerci complied.

"I will continue to search and report on any new discoveries." She added.

"This should be enough for now. Since I am only two this year any action I take will be too astonishing and will result in many questions. So I need you to recruit a group of ten or so people and start training them in various industries. These people will be our foundation for the future so character over skill and they should finish their respective trainings by the time I ten." Aurelius intructed.

Cerci asked,"Shall we came them oblivious about each other?"

"Might as well." Aurelius answered.

"Young Lord breakfast is ready. The first miss, will also be attending." A maid informed from outside the room. Aurelius had, since the time he was able, prevented the maids and servants from entering his room.

Aurelius did not reply and went to take a quick bath. When he returned, he slipped into a linen undertunic. Over it, he put on a crimson dalmatica trimmed with gold, the color echoing the faint burgundy in his hair and under his amber eyes. A leather belt with a bronze clasp cinched his waist, and a dark blue mantle rested on his shoulders. He set a soft cap over his tousled hair, plain now, though one day it would be replaced by a ducal circlet.

The maid having wait for half an hour now was quite nervous as this was not the first time when Aurelius would ignore the servant's call in the morning, one time when a servant entered the room he got upset and had that servant clean the stables and the mansion lavatories for half a year.

Thankfully before she had to decide on what to do the Young Lord exited his room all ready in his noble attire.

Aurelius motioned for the maid to lead the way. The maid thankful for having avoided an unfortunate situations almost skipped into motion. Which Aurelius chose to ignore and continued his conversation with Cerci.

"Now that I have an idea about where we stand the next best would be to see who among the ruling family in the city have opposing interests and the attitude they hold towards the family. Cerci you have till the end of today to organize all this and the ten people." Aurelius ordered.

Aurelius was fully distracted with his conversation and made it to the dinning hall quite quick in his perspective.

"Ahh my son, you are here." The Lady of the House, was also present for the meal.

"Mother, greetings." Aurelius found it quite hard to assimilate to his parents has he would always make comparison with is past life. "I am glad to see you here." He said awkwardly.

The mother, father pair had noticed this strange distance their son put up but chose to not accept it making multiple attempts to get closer.

"Son, your father and sister, will soon leave the manor for a hunt. There are rumors of a strange man-eating beast just out of the harbour where most of the local fish. At that time I plan to go to the harbour would you like to come?" The Duchess asked. She was planning to use this trip to interact with her son.

"Honestly he is more distance with each passing day." The Duchess thought.

Aurelius surprised by the question did not reply immediately. Seeing him dazed Cerci suggested," Young Lord, this venture would allow me to verify the selection for personal. Why not go ahead."

"Umm. As you wish mother. When do we leave." Aurelius asked looking into his plate. Still living in the haunts of his past life.

"Closer to noon." replied the Duchess not wanting to push too much.

Isabella who was also at the table was too focused on trying to practice telekinesis that she remained oblivious to the plans for the day. She did however, manage to lift the plate of honey cake. Also completely unaware that she was to go hunting with her father.
