Chapter 1 - Chapter 1(rough draft)

Moon was walking through the halls trying to find her home room when suddenly she bumped into someone. She's never met her before; even so, as she continued to walk, she apologized for bumping into her. It was definitely strange, Moon thought to herself. She knew pretty much everyone. Well, at least Moon recognized everyone around the area. Compared to what she thought, she was not aware of the many new faces around in this high school. As Moon continued to walk to her destination, she noted a few features about this new person.

She had what looked like a weird dragon tail, mixed wings of a bat and blue bird, and a cute hairpin that looked like a set of horns? Which was the weirdest part of this new character she ran into.

However, speaking of people Moon recognized. Moon saw a certain fluffy blue-striped tail going into the room Moon was walking to.

As Moon walked into the room, she got very excited. After all, all three of her best friends happened to be in the same home room as her. 'What were the chances of that? Not very high' she thought. As she walked over to them, she overheard them talking about interests. Moon spoke up as she came over.

"Are you guys talking about boys?" Cheshie almost jumped off the desk she was sitting on. Though startled, she recognized the voice and once again almost jumped off the desk, hugging Moon enthusiastically.

"MD!" She cried out loud.

"Are you also in this Home room?!" Cheshie asked. As Moon went to reply, Bleslie cut her off, saying

"Girl, you are going to be one happy woman real soon. We heard that ur 'type' will also be in this class." Moon couldn't help but look completely shocked as she was practically horrified

"...Are you serious?" She asked almost hesitantly. Bleslie stood up, walking over to give Moon a big hug after Cheshie let her go. After a second, D'J sat up from how she was slouched over the back of a chair she pulled, her arms crossed over the bridge of it to give her head support, and said

"Yeah, but don't worry. I'm sure he forgot what happened last time. You look like a completely different person now." D'J spoke up, implying that her body changed overnight. As she was sitting backwards in the chair she pulled from a desk, setting her head on the intersection of her arms.

Moon was overall relieved hearing those words. Even so, she hoped not to bump into him after what happened during summer break. D'J was right, after all, she wasn't on the beach. There is no way he would recognize her; it has been a while since the incident. . . right? 'What would I do if they happened to run into one another again?' she thought. As if Bleslie was reading her mind, she changed the subject

"So, did you sleep well?" Moon relaxed a bit. Though only a bit relieved, she gave a small smile to Bleslie, almost as if to say thank you.

"Yeah, I'd say I did." Cheshie butted in, saying

"You know she sleeps like a rock; if she didn't, we would have to worry." Moon playfully nudged Cheshie with her elbow.

"Hey, that's a low blow. Either way, it's a blessing in disguise. I know of someone who wishes they could." Cheshie giggled, saying

"It's true, I wish I slept that restfully." They all laughed as they continued to talk to one another. As time passed, people began to gather, chatting with one another about their summer break and how they were excited about the upcoming high school year. Before they knew it, it was almost time to start the day.

The teacher wandered in unnoticed by the class, as everyone was invested in their own conversations. However, the girls did notice, involuntarily.

"Excuse me, could I ask you to move? I need to set up my desk." She said sweetly, accidentally jump scaring Bleslie.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't even hear you walk in, let alone see you..?" Bleslie stated, slightly startled as she moved from that desk to one of the student desks.

"That's alright, it happens quite often. After all, the saying 'As quiet as a mouse' isn't a saying for nothing." She smiled sweetly as Cheshie spoke up, asking

"Is it already time to start class?" and the teacher said

"No, not yet. I just like to be early to set myself up. Don't mind me."

As the teacher settled in, they asked her about the school and her life. There were many questions about the school and what to expect, compared to asking personal questions. Even so, they couldn't help but ask some personal questions.

With all that said, time flew by. As the bell rang, giving notice that school was about to start, everyone settled in. As the class gathered quietly, Moon could feel someone staring at her. Or was it multiple people staring at her? She was seated in the front, but this didn't feel like they were looking past her at the board, waiting for the teacher's direction to start. She initially thought that she was making it up in her head, but in reality, there were eyes on her. Unbenosed to her, things were going to get interesting, as multiple people were looking at her. All in different ways of curiosity. For example, one was thinking,

'Who is she for him to be oggling her like that?' as another was thinking

'That's the girl I ran into at the beach! I didn't think I'd get to see her again. I gotta play it cool. You think she remembers me?' as another was thinking

'She's a fox! But I'm a fox… is this meant to be.. If Andy is interested in her, it must be!' With another thinking

'I don't like how that guy is looking at her. Is she in danger? How dare they put my best friend in danger, let alone seem so starstruck. .? Either way, I must take care of this for her, especially after what happened in elementary.

Along with Middle school. It's only the first day. I feel bad for Moon. I wouldn't enjoy this much attention ALL the time. She must want a break sometimes.' Along with a few others that will be introduced soon enough.

The second bell rang, meaning school had officially started. As class started, the teacher explained that today they would be doing introductions. Going by alphabetical order, they will introduce themselves to the class. Unlike your world, they go alphabetically by the first name, not the last. The teacher stood up, introducing herself

"Hello, class. My name is Missy Mira, but all of you can call me Ms. Mira. As I already mentioned, I'm going to call you up one by one to introduce yourselves to the class. For example, after mentioning your name and what you're okay with being represented as, maybe mention something you enjoy or a fun fact about yourself." As she finished her introduction and instructions to the class, she checked the roster and got ready to begin.

"Alright, let's get started. Adrea Katz? Is there an Adrea Katz?" As a hand rose from the crowd, acknowledging her presence, Ms. Mira continued

"Would you like to come up and start us off in the introductions?"

As the edgy, goth-styled cat girl stood up, you could tell she had an attitude based on how she held herself. Showing off her tail and ears, you couldn't tell she dyed her fur to a darker shade. As this hourglass figure of a girl with long, dark red, beautiful hair that resembled a shade of blood got up, she made her two tattoos very apparent over her body. One over her left shoulder and down her upper arm. It looked like an untamed fire of multiple colors ignited on her upper arm and rising under her jaw.

Along with the other tattoo being over her left thigh, perfectly sitting between her mini skirt and thigh-high fishnets. Once again resembling a fire, but like an angry fire sprite. From head to toe, she looked like a spiky and dark mean girl, with her tail holding a tail brace lined with spikes near the base of her tail, a spike choker around her neck, heavy mascara, and multiple piercings held in her cat ears.

While she walked up, she couldn't help but glare at Moon, with her turquoise eyes practically turning green with envy, but as soon as she got in front of everyone, she completely changed her vibe into a fun, approachable, adoring personality before anyone really noticed anything.

"My name's Adrea, my last name's Katz. As if it wouldn't be obvi that I am a cat. I'm pretty in love right now with the goth style, have been since middle school," She winks at a boy in the back who happened to be one of the 'staring'. As she continued

"I'm so excited for the new year and all the new friends I will make. I mean, what's not to love? I'm sweet, hot, and just fun to be around." With that, she finished, whipping her tail at Moon in a way no one else would notice. Moon didn't even notice, to be honest. She was lost in her own world.

Time went by, with the first few introducing themselves, until it felt like time had completely stopped. Moon's horrified thought seemed to become reality, as the unknown to her, the person she didn't want to see due to the incident at the beach, was about to be called up.

"Thank you for your introduction and how pigeons are um.. So interesting. Next is Andy King?" A tall figure stood up from his desk and walked up, standing straight in front of her. It was as if time completely stood still as she couldn't help but relive that moment in her mind.

As the male figure stood in front of Moon, she instantly recognized his messy dark maroon hair. Though not soaked by the salty water of the ocean, it looked so soft. Unlike at the beach, he was wearing a leather jacket with spikes lining over his shoulders, ripped jeans, and skater sneakers. His sharp shaped ears and messy tail drew certain memories to mind. As this figure of embarrassing memories tried his hardest not stare at Moon, Moon couldn't help but turn a shade of light pink. Doing her best not to examine him further and completely lose her composure, she forced herself to look away or past him. Though Moon was unable to focus completely on his words, Andy spoke.

"Hello everyone, my name is Andy King. I'm a 'flare' wolf, which is a term created for the type of red that appears at the tips of my fur. I'm hoping this year will be an enjoyable one. I enjoy playing my guitar and.. reading, I guess. Um. . . I enjoy playing video games and hanging out on the beach.." He said, trying his hardest not to look at Moon. If he did, he knew he wouldn't get a word out, which would make him seem awkward. That's not how he wants her to see him for the second meeting. He continued pretending to look around the classroom, thinking.

"And uh… yeah, that's about it. At least that I can think of at this moment." The teacher then spoke up

"Thank you so much. It's nice to meet you, Andy." As he went to be seated, he couldn't help but avoid going past Moon.

As the teacher asked for the next person, Bleslie couldn't help but smirk, looking over at Moon, as if she were teasing her. Moon couldn't help but start to get pink from different thoughts. Bleslie was in no way helping her at the moment.

Soon enough, the names that started with "B" were being called up to introduce themselves. Therefore, Bleslie's turn came around. She got up from her seat right next to Moon and walked up to face everyone after her name was called.

"It's a pleasure to meet everyone. My name is Bleslie Charm. Though you're welcome to just call me Bleslie. I'm a wolf, just so happen to be blue, I don't really have a term for the color of wolf I am. I don't have anything really cool to talk about or share. I like hanging out with my girls and chilling." She couldn't help but smirk at the thought of mentioning 'enjoying the beach' to tease Moon. However, she refrained from doing so.

"Thank you so much, Bleslie. It was nice to meet you," Ms. Mira said as Bleslie went to sit back down. Moon glared at her, knowing full well what Bleslie was smirking at. Playfully nudging Bleslie, Moon let her know her time will come. Even if Bleslie was the nonchalant one of the group, Moon knew her time would come. She couldnt help but be excited for that day.

Again, time went by flying through the "B's." Next up was the C's; soon enough, Cheshie was called on. She was sitting behind Moon. Walking up, she couldn't help but pester Moon while walking by her. Cheshie stood in front of everyone and said

"Greetings, everyone. My name is Cheshie Smiles. Cheshie is fine. I'm a 'wet moon' Cat. I love getting out of the house and being active." As she looked over the crowd of around fifty other students, she recognized Echo, curious as to where his buddy Arrow was. Normally, he's not far from Echo.

She shook off the suspicion as to where his shadow of a friend was and whether or not to worry about the drama to follow. Continuing, Cheshie stated

"I'm excited for what this year will bring." Almost hesitant to say this sentence as the words just flew out.

After Cheshie moved on, heading back to her seat, Ms. Mira called up the next person. Surprisingly, a few of the kids were absent after this point, despite what seemed like fifty or more attendees.

Flying through the C's, she fell into the D's—fast forwarding to D'J. D'J sat on the other side of Moon. Towering over everyone around her, she got up and moved to the front of the classroom. She naturally moved her headphones from her ears and around her neck as she stood in front of everyone.

"Sup, names D'J. You can forget my last name. I'm a Ram. As you undoubtedly know, rams are normally dudes but um.. Not in my case. I'm a full-blown chic; it has to do with my dad's genes. I've been a woman since I came out of the womb. I enjoy my space and being alone." As she went quiet, looking over the crowd unfazed, she was excused as Ms. Mira spoke up, saying

"Thank you, D'J. It is nice to meet you." As she went on calling people up, D'J sat back down. Waiting through introduction after introduction, we reached the E's. Unknowingly, someone familiar with the gal's group.

This figure was new, yet so familiar. He was around six feet and thickset, though well hidden under his dark hoodie; you could tell he was broader by the depth of his shoulders, by the hoodie's outline over them. His eyes are the first thing noticeable about him, besides his new figure. Wearing almost neon green contacts over his light gray eyes. However, only the four girls knew that fact. His oversized Fox ears held piercings and a pin with a drum set, designed similarly to a typical skull with bones crossed behind it. You would also notice his pair of skinny jeans with worn-out holes from his knees down. The culprit of these wholes was undoubtedly from his sturdy set of legs. As the shadow with piercing green eyes walked up and turned to face everyone.

"Hello, everyone. My name is Echo. I'm a Shadow Fennic Fox. No, I did not dye my fur to look more 'Edgy?' I'm not very interesting overall. I enjoy hanging out with friends and listening to music, along with sharing music. And Um.. Yeah.." He looked over at the teacher waiting to be excused.

After the teacher became aware of the hint to be excused, she speedily took over asking for the next person. While Echo started to head towards his seat in the back, walking past Moon, Moon pulled him into a hug, excited to see him. However, she whispered in his ear

"Is Arrow here as well? I wasn't watching who walked in and out." Echo shook his head and motioned he'd talk to her later about it.

Moon released him from the sudden embrace, and he walked to his seat. Funny enough, Echo noticed the glares and confusion on a few faces that were watching this interaction due to their interest in Moon. He couldn't help but smirk on his way back to his seat. Suddenly filled with a feeling of superiority.

This was the last name called that was recognizable to the crew. Ms. Mira ended up reading through the rest of the E's and all the way up to the M's. Throughout this time, Moon was left to wonder, worry, and feel puzzled in her mind. Not really picking up any of the other students' names. Except for the guy named Andy. She couldn't help but keep coming back to the thought of him and how he looked like he was avoiding glancing at her. Puzzled and conflicted, Moon was left reciting the incident at the beach.

Turning a shade of red, Bleslie could tell Moon was lost in her own world again. Bleslie motioned at Cheshie to look over at Moon. As Cheshie did, she was confused looking back at Bleslie. Bleslie started mouthing the situation she was trying to convey. However, Cheshie ended even more confused and mouthed, 'What?' as Bleslie was trying to signal her that Moon was lost in thought about it again. Bleslie gave up pulling out her phone to text Cheshie in their group chat.

"Moon's at it again." Bleslie texted, as Cheshie replied

"At what again?" Bleslie replied back

"Daydreaming about the event that happened with her and who we were introduced as 'Andy' a second ago." Cheshie finally understood what Bleslie was gesturing at. Cheshie couldn't help but cover her mouth from giggling and started texting back with her other hand

"I think he remembered her. He kept avoiding eye contact with her." Bleslie replied

"Yeah, it was pretty obvious. Though, to be fair, our girl is pretty hard to forget. If he didn't recognize her, then he didn't initially care." D'J interjected

"Yeah, almost like an apparent red flag." Bleslie looked over at D'J, holding back a snicker, looking back at Moon, and then back at the texts.

"You think she'll snap out of it soon? M's are coming up, aren't they? She's entirely checked out at the moment. She hasn't even noticed the blowup of notifications from our group chat yet." D'J looked over at Moon for a good amount of time before looking back at her phone to text

"I have faith she'll snap out of it at the right moment. She seems to be cycling through thoughts. As long as it's called in the moment, she's not stuck in the spot of thinking about the incident; she should snap out of it quickly."

Bleslie looked up from her screen at Moon, watching her facial expressions change over a few seconds to a minute at a time. Bleslie smiled and texted back

"Yeah, you're right. So, you think she's more into Andy than Arrow?" Cheshie texted

"Arrow was a puppy crush. He wasn't good enough for her, you both know that. I hope she stays away from him. Drama followed him like a lost puppy dog. Doesn't help that he was a wolf, either." D'J joined once again

"You think she's got a thing for wolves? Have you seen her crush on anyone else?" Bleslie paused to think

"Well, what was Drew, Cheshie?" Bleslie texted in conclusion. Cheshie replied after a second

"For one, Drew liked her. I don't think she had feelings for him. At least she never showed any. As for two, he never showed his animal features, so your guess is as good as mine." D'J replied

"You guys mentioned a guy named Crimson before. Did she fancy him?" Both Cheshie and Bleslie reacted as if a memory clicked at the same time

"Thats right! I think she still likes the idea of him. He was a cougar. Maybe she's got a thing for red?" Bleslie replied. As Cheshie thought about it, she interjected

"No, she wouldn't be attracted to a color of personality… would she?" D'J gave a second before messaging again

"You sure she didn't have a thing for Drew? She couldn't pick between Arrow and Drew, remember?" Bleslie and Cheshie went quiet, thinking about it, when suddenly they heard Ms. Mira announce she was through the L's and onto the M's. Though Moon had a second, they attempted to get her attention and tried to pull her back to earth before her name was called. They didnt want her first day to be an embarrassing one. Especially in front of Andy, the possible new interest in her life. Starting with a male student. As this male student walked up, he couldn't help but stare at Moon, waiting for her to notice him.

While walking up, you could see that he was under 6 feet but had pumped sneakers to exaggerate his height. While noticing his bright, rich blue hair, some put up in a messy bun, while a layer lay at his shoulders. With his dark navy blue fox ears and tail shimmering as he stands right in the sunlight coming through the window, as if he's a character of his own drama. As if you could tell him the world didn't revolve around him.

Jewelry and piercings were dispersed over him. Notably, his baggy tank top was layered over his dark skinny jeans, wrapped around his waist with a thick belt that held a chain from the front loop to the back loop. Unfortunately, she didn't notice as he stood in front of everyone and said

"Hey, my name is Max Le'Renard. I'm new to this neighborhood, as are some of the other faces I recognize. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I enjoy hanging out with friends, as well as going to the arcade. I'm a Night Sky Fox. I think that's pretty cool. I'm 6'3" and cool." As he flexes, trying to make Andy jealous of him being this close to Moon. Though getting no reaction from Andy nor Moon, he eventually headed back to his seat, trying to hide his frustration.

Time was running out as the teacher called students up one by one before Moon. Thankfully, they were able to get her attention back enough for her to hear her name being introduced in front of everyone.

Moon got up and stood in front of everyone. Though short, everyone was watching, curious about her appearance, if not for other things. She was of average height for a girl, but was still seen as short. Though short and stout, she was tougher than she appeared, as her outfit traced her pear-shaped figure, hiding her muscular definition. The crowd was left unable to miss her fire-like fox ears and tails with tips dipped in white. Wearing a cute off-the-shoulder blouse that loosely tucked into her pencil skirt that stopped halfway down her thighs.

Along with complimentary thigh-high socks and wedged high-tops. Around her neck, she wore a black choker with a thick cross charm dangling from it, with her right ear sporting three piercings. The lowest piercing was a thick cuff-earring hanging another, smaller, cross, in case you missed the first one. Therefore, the second earring created two piercings; these two thin ring earrings are attached to eachother by a very fine chain. On the other ear, she wore two thick gold cuff earrings. Though her ears were constantly in a relaxed state, she couldn't help but be nervous. This left her with an ear up and an ear down.

She doesn't only do this when nervous, but when shes dealing with a strong or overpowering emotional moment. Excited. Nervous. Or Playful. Some call it weird, but Moon learned to ignore comments like that. They have no idea why it happens, or furthermore. The only times you will see her with both ears up/pinned back is when shes faltering through levels of anger or fear. As she looked over the crowd, she started.

"Sup, my name is Moonlight Dusk. For short, you're welcome to call me Moon. Speaking of 'short', I enjoy my height, for those of you who like to tease about appearances. I enjoy hanging out with my friends, skateboarding, listening to music, chilling on the beach, and exploring new things. As you can see, I'm a fox. No, I'm not cursed to have two tails. No, my family doesn't have anyone else recently with two tails.

Yes, it is a recurring gene due to one of my late, late, late, late ancestor was a Kitsune. For those who don't know, a Kitsune was a nine-tailed fox who was seen as a legend or spiritual myth. As I grow in age, there is a possibility that I'll gain another tail, but not for sure. So far, I've just had two tails and nothing more, which gives me reason to believe I won't be growing another tail. Anyway, I'm excited to see what this year will hold. It is a pleasure to meet all of you." Some of the students couldn't help but marvel. Some were comparing her beautiful, fluffy, huge tail to the other foxes in the room. She couldn't help but feel like moving out of the 'spotlight.'

"Thank you, it is so nice to meet you, Miss Moon. You're welcome to be seated. Now.." Ms. Mira went on as Moon sat down in her seat, not sure how to take the mixture of reactions she got. Exhaling a breath, she didn't even notice she was holding. Moon relaxed as she sat in her chair and noticed Bleslie was worried. Not entirely sure why she seemed so concerned, she popped her head askind 'whats up?'. Bleslie mouthed 'You 'right?'. Moon looked super confused but realized she probably showed her "unknown breath holding". Moon shrugged, not entirely sure how to express what she felt and how she didn't even notice herself holding in a breath. Bleslie understood as she texted Moon

"Would u like to try and talk about it later?" Moon wasn't sure how to even begin, but knowing Bleslie, she was going to worry till Moon said something. So Moon texted back

"Sure. I can try to. I don't know when I'll be able to think." Bleslie wasn't satisfied with this answer, but she'll take it.

After the last name was called and introduced, Ms. Mira went into what they were doing for the day

"I know most of you assume today will be chill. I can't promise you anything for your other teachers, but in this class, and 'homeroom' alone, it will be kept pretty chill. Especially today. However, for now, you are welcome to talk to your other classmates while I pass out your schedules. Just keep it down, we don't want to make the other classes jealous." Moon couldn't help but be excited by this. New classes. She wonders if any of them will be with her girls; if not, she hopes they can hang out at lunch to talk about their classes before. Ms. Mira went about giving out schedules. Not only to learn their names but to memorize them as quickly as possible. She found it easier that way, after all, she wanted them comfortable in her classroom if nowhere else. 'Its hard enough in this world, she thought to herself, thinking back at how horrible it was for her.

With this, Moon and her friends couldn't help but dive right into texting one another. Though Bleslie was still worried, she couldn't help but feel like bringing it up was a bad idea. However, this didn't stop them from teasing her about Andy. Moon knew this was coming, though, and initially shrugged it off, still unsure of the situation and the future events.

As class went on, life went on. Moon became more comfortable, almost completely forgetting the feeling of eyes on her and chatting away with her friends as they got their schedules one by one.

"I'm so frustrated. How is it that out of all the classes, I've got only one with two of you?" Moon yelled internally while trying to keep her voice down, saying it outloud.

'Hey, at least we will meet up in the homeroom every morning, or, in other words, the chance to." Cheshie soothed Moon

"And it's only the first year, we still have every semester change along with a few more years to get more classes with one another," Bleslie chimed in. Moon was left furrowing her brow, still upset but coming to terms with their point of view

"Yeah, that's true. It just sucks, I was hoping to not have this year without one of you." She looks at Cheshie

"Are you gonna be alright?" Moon asked. Cheshie couldnt help but giggle

"You know I'm going to have classes that overall overlap with the other two, right?" Cheshie said, holding up her schedule. Moon couldn't help but get sad at that response. She also wished to hang out with Cheshie in class throughout the first semester. Here's to hoping next semester she gets more time with all of them.

"We'll still hang out at lunch as much as possible and after school. We quite literally could have a sleepover if necessary." D'J said, slouched in a chair, manspreading while looking at her phone. However, the moment she finished her sentence, she looked up at Moon

"Right?" Moon couldn't help but look to the side as if the answer was next to her, while she thought about it.

"I mean, it would be reasonable, especially if we all do good and such. I don't see why that wouldn't be possible." Moon's mood finally shifted, overexcited for those moments

"Even in consideration that we make new friends to the group, we will still find time for one another when it comes down to it," Bleslie spoke up, squatting down to D'Js' level, giving D'J a side hug.

"There's no reason to worry, Moon. I know it isn't the desired outcome, but this is just the beginning," Cheshie said as a smirk crept over her lips.

"Speaking of beginnings. You gonna talk to Andy yet?" Moon shrugged

"As if he would want to talk to me, I'm sure he's as embarrassed about that situation as I was."

"Was?" Bleslie questioned, almost sounding shocked

"Well, I mean, I still am. But I won't be giving you girls any more satisfaction over it," She turned playfully as a smile made an appearance from the ignition of joy. As she continued

"Plus, there's no use worrying all day about it. I doubt we'll bump into one another personally, or close enough to have to acknowledge it.

As the class went on, more and more people got their schedule. Many of the students were having an array of emotions upon looking at their schedules. Although curiosity and wonder were the primary feelings toward the mess of emotions. On the topic of other students feeling a certain way, Andy couldn't help but feel anxious towards the possibility that he could have a class with 'her'.

He didn't know where to start. Should he act nonchalantly about the situation? Should he act as if he doesn't remember a thing about it? Or, should he just come clean and apologizes for the situation?

"I cant do the last one, that would be too weird. After all, nothing bad happened in need of an apology. Besides, what if she doesn't even remember the incident and that reminds her?" he thought out loud. Though mumbling to himself, Adrea wasn't unable to catch his words.

"Whatcha talking about?" She asked, bending over so her hands held her knees, her forehead a hair's breadth away from his.

Startled, he shot back into his chair.

"Gees! I've told you not to do that, cat." As he adjusted himself to have more than breathing room.

"Sorry, i forgot.." She said in a pouty voice. Continuing with her normal voice

"I thought you were talking to me." She finished. Andy looked extremely confused, hesitantly looking over to see the many people standing around them in their own conversations. Finally, he followed with

"How did you come to this conclusion? I was practically staring at the ground, in my own thoughts." Adrea pouted again, trying to hide the anger boiling from the many thoughts racing through her mind on what little she heard from his mumbles. Even so, she composed herself, straightening herself.

"Fine, you just looked lonely. Thought to be friendly with an old friend." She smiled innocently. Andy fought back an eye roll. He knew this act very well. 'Why was she jealous?' he thought. Sometimes he wished they never met. Though at one point, she was considered a good friend. However, they do go way back, which is why he tries to be kind to her.

"Aaanywhoooo," She continued

"What was it you were mumbling?" Andy took a moment to think of something to mention, whether or not to tell her the truth.

"Oh, I had an awkward situation happen with my little cousin. However, she was half asleep and didn't seem to remember anything about the situation, so I was just thinking of what to do when I get home." Andy said, almost convincing himself of this event. Noticing the relief on Adrea's face, he felt a wave of reassurance.

"Oh.. that's it?" she asked, slightly confused, hesitant to believe this rather normal-sounding story.

"Yeah. I'm probably going to act as if nothing happened at this point. No reason to say anything if she doesn't remember." Adrea was completely convinced and relaxed her posture.

"On a totally different topic, doing anything later?" She asked

"Besides, the great possibility of going home to sleep? Nope. Just a date with my bed." He smiled greatly. Though Andy's joy of this was huge, Adrea wasn't as happy with it. In fact, you could say she was rather disappointed he didn't ask to hang out with her, or if she was busy. Feeling defeated, Adrea changed the subject, talking about what she was feeling and hoping for.

However, Andy couldn't hear a word she was saying. His own thoughts were louder at the moment. Realizing what he said about the made-up situation with his cousin, he understood how to go about the situation at hand if he were to end up running into her, one-on-one.

A moment passed as he formulated his response for the future, but once again, he was snapped out of his thoughts by Adrea.

"Hello? Are you even listening to me Andy?" He zoned in on her, waving her hand in front of his face.

"Sorry, I was thinking about lunch." He bluffed. Adrea crunched up her face, frustrated and pouty. She once again felt defeated. She huffed and went to her seat. 'Finally,' Andy thought. Going back to his thoughts, he couldn't help but actually think about lunch 'Now that I mention it, I really do wonder what is for lunch' he continued.

Time passed, as did a small crumpled-up piece of paper that flew by the front of Andy's face. Looking up, he saw Max getting another piece ready. Sighing, Andy couldn't help but feel bad for Max. 'Why did Max feel like he had something to prove? I mean, I am taller, better put together, and everyone seemed to flock to me in middle school, but-' He paused in thought as another piece of paper caught his attention, as it landed at his feet.

Andy picked up the piece of paper and got up to throw it away. Respectfully, he didn't see a need to let it litter the new year on the first day. Though he knew Max wouldn't stop at two, he didn't wish to talk or engage with Max right now.

"It's too early" He mumbled to himself. Going back to his seat, he opened a book to read in attempts to ignore the attention leeches that plagued his life. Stuck on the first word of the book, he couldn't help but continue to think about 'the girl'. He realized he didn't catch her name, even after she introduced herself. (Unfinished, still working on it)
