Once outside, I mounted my horse as he did his. Which funnily enough was the exact same breed as mine but was a male instead of a mare. We took off with a group of men who branched off as we got further away from the woods.
After the last man left, I broke the silence. "Great minds think a like." I said as I nodded to his horse.
"So are you going to tell me your secret about why Maya sent you out here?" he asked as we slowed to a walk back to the castle instead of running like we were.
"I am avoiding my family. Maya is just helping me to do that since she too does not like the absurd orders she is getting from them."
"Is it that bad?" he asked as he whistled, "I mean bad enough to chase off one of the princesses?"
"Yes. Now why don't you introduce yourself to me?" I asked wanting to hear him introduce himself.
"My pleasure. I am Jasper NicKlaus Ive general of the kings army from Braxton. I was brought here as part of the peace agreement." he said proudly.
I stopped my horse and he turned his around to face me as he notice I stopped. "You are Edward's brother?" I asked a bit mad.
"Half. My mother is technically the kings mistress but since they are getting married soon, at least what I gathered from her latest letter, she will be queen." he said with amusement.
"Wait what about Catherien and Edward?" I questioned. "To my knowledge, the king was still married to Catherien."
"Why else do you think Edward got married to Chloe? Catherien and Elizabeth are friends. Marriage equals power. The reason why you do not know this is because the divorce papers are arriving tonight." he explained as he came up next to me.
"Oh ok. Makes sense. They are power hungry and so is Chloe. I thought that they got married to end the war. So why are you here then if you are going to be the prince and heir to the Braxton crown?" I asked as we started to walk back to the castle.
"The peace agreement for the war to end, which I was winning by the way, states that I am to be here for a few months. I would have been gone by now but the new baby arrived. I am also here to represent Braxton once the notice of the divorce is delivered. But don't worry, I am leaving at the end of the festivals." he replied with a wink at the end.
"So then why are you telling me this?" I asked since I could easily go tell on him.
"I do not know. Any ways enough about me. Tell me about yourself princess." he said trying to change the topic.
"Hmm I would much rather be out on the ocean this summer and I plan to be. I am the forgotten child, unless my mother needs me to do something for her. And I am training with Jake in the ways of combat." I said trying to not reveal too much about myself which I knew was not fair but oh well.
"I knew all of that. I had to deny your requests to go out to sea on the order of your mother. I'm sorry about that. So tell me something that you wouldn't tell anyone else. Not even your suitors."
"What suitors? Do you know of any? Because I don't." I replied with sarcasm.
He looked truly shocked at that. "No suitor? Like none at all? Come on a beautiful princess has no suitor? You are clearly of marrying age."
"Nope. None. How old do you think I am anyways?" I asked while laughing at his astonishment but I did not miss the fact that he called me beautiful.
