Chapter 5 - Factions

One would be considered a Talent when their points exceeded 200. The self proclaimed Talents were the ones who only obtained 200 points which was the border that separated a Talent and the ones who weren't selected as one.

Since it was the border, the students were free to proclaim as they were one of the Talents and the government would sponsor them as well so it wasn't a big issue.

But many Talents looked down on them since they weren't even able to cross the border and the ones who weren't selected envied them because of their luck.

Even if he was a self proclaimed Talent, a Talent was a Talent nonetheless.

And having a friend like Louis would definitely help him a lot in the future. Jake then smiled and took the initiative to stretch out his hand by himself.

Louis was happy to befriend someone who understood his problem so he immediately shook hands.

Louis then asked,

"Friend, how should I address you?"

"Just call me Jake." He smiled and said.

Louis then hesitantly asked,

" If it isn't too personal, may I ask how many points you achieved? "

Jake realized why Louis had asked that. If one was from a well established family and was as well a Talent, their family would never allow them to befriend some random person.

Of course they can hide their friendship from their parents but if found out, the dispute would flare up for such feeble reason as befriending a random person who wasn't capable enough.

Jake then smiled and said,

"I am also enlisted as Talents."

Louis then heaved a sigh of relief because his friend wouldn't be in problem for being his friend. He then took a chair sat beside Jake's seat.

The other students who heard Jake were dumbfounded. Among 60 students only 25% were the ones enlisted as Talents and Jake, a cripple was one of them? They didn't believe it and thought he just bluffed to make Louis his friend.

They again turned their heads and continued their previous conversation.

Louis was very curious about something and asked,

"Why is your left hand covered in plaster?"

"I slipped and fell, but my left hand wasn't lucky enough." He touched his left hand and laughed.

"When will it heal, if it doesn't it'll hinder your progress."

"You don't have to worry, the doctor said it will only take about 5 days for it to heal completely, and even if my healing progress is slower than others it'll only take a week at maximum."

"Indeed, how can I underestimate today's technology, even if ones limb is severed they would just reattach it like nothing even happened to the person's limb. It is truly a miracle and all because of hard works of Talents and Perfects."

When they were talking, about twelve students entered the room and started handing over sheets to every student present in the class.

Each students got three sheets and twelve waited for the students to fill one of them.

The sheet of paper was in fact a form for recruitment. It was only first day but it seemed that some were already trying to establish hierarchy in the school.

The form was form three different factions:

The first faction was the one created by Jessica, the goddess of the school; Lions.

Second faction was also created by one of the students of Class A, Ray Limber; Mamba.

The third faction was created by student of class B who went by the name Lirch Lenson; Wolves.

When he read the name of the faction leader of the third form, he elbowed Louis who was sitting on his right and asked,

" Is Lirch someone you know?"

"Yes," Louis said with a disappointed look on his face, " He is my cousin. "

"No wonder the surname seemed familiar."

"Whose faction are you joining?" Louis asked.

"None." Jake replied casually.

"Haha, Jake is lucky. My father asked of me to join the faction Lion." Louis then looked at Jake and said, "Will it affect our friendship?"

"It won't." Jake said.

Louis was delighted and immediately filled the form to join the faction Lion leaving other two form empty.

The students started collecting the forms and grinned as hierarchy was also established in most of class D.

But in front of Jake's bench, the student shouted in anger,

"Why didn't you fill any of the form?"

Everybody's gaze was shifted toward Jake.

"Isn't it my choice? I don't want to join any." Jake said with a smile.

"Hey, Hey, Hey cripple, are you saying you are too good to join our faction?" The student shouted.

"I said no such thing, you're just making it up yourself." Jake sighed and said.

The student grabbed him by his collar and lifted him up. Jake didn't struggle and stayed quiet.

After making Jake stand up the student roared,

"Looks like I'll have to teach you a lesson so you will never forget your place, cripple."

Beck always wanted to bully someone and make them taste how it feels to be bullied and it was a favorable condition for him to bully a cripple now.

"A fight?" Jake asked as he looked him in the eyes.

"Yes, a fight." Beck replied.

Other students stared at them and were interested in how Beck was going to bully the cripple.

After completing his sentence, Beck clenched his fist and threw at Jake. Jake immediately lifted his right hand to block the attack.

But the first attack came from side and the leg kicked his hand. The punch acted as a cover for a kick.

The pain was too much for him and he screamed in agony,

"Ahh~"

The scream only lasted few seconds then Jake gritted his teeth and the withstood the pain.

A crack appeared in the plaster, the leg had kicked his injured left arm.

A smirk of triumph appeared in Beck's face and he again lifted his fist to beat him up.

But Jake wasn't someone who was easy to bully, if he was he would have been tormented everyday for two years in his middle school for being a loner.

Jake curled his lips up and covered the pain stricken face with a gentle smile and said as he looked at the door,

"Good morning to you professor."

The punch stopped in mid air as Beck turned to face the professor.

The moment he turned his head, a hand grabbed his head and ruthlessly smacked it against the the desk.

Beck didn't move and laid at the ground unconscious and the desk was broken in half.

Everyone was dumbfounded and one the students among eleven who were watching shouted,

"THAT WAS DIRTY!"

Jake then gave him a cold stare and said,

" Are you claiming that the way your friend fought was something a saint would use? This fight became dirty the moment he kicked my injured arm. He should be glad that I only knocked him out."
