Chapter 1 - My one life

My name is Constant. I live in a modern world, one with electricity and tall buildings that reach the sky. I am also a high-school student who doesn't do much to further his studies.

I walk in the classroom, and the teacher once again reprimands me for being late while the students who aren't, don't really take note of me which is all but fine. As I take my seat; another boring day starts...

The school bell starts to ring in all of it's messed up glory which obviously indicates the end of class.

I stand up and try to leave quickly as to avoid the ever so insistent teacher who always thinks it's in my best interest to listen but also; quote on quote, "get my act together."

It seems the gods aren't on my side today as the teacher waves her hand towards me. So, I make my way over to the demon in human disguise.

As I reach her she says goodbye to the student who she was formerly speaking to.

"Constant.." she would sigh.

I looked her in the eye and replied with

" I know, I am failing. I also won't be graduating this year"

I forgot to mention that I am in my senior year and this is the last day of school.

She then starts talking about what to expect, all that mumbo jumbo. I kinda just toned her out.

She finishes with a "Hard work leads to good things". I nodded and walked away. Reveling at the fact that I no longer would be coming here, no longer would be forced to face the torment that High-School was. I walked out of the school getting ready to walk home when all of a sudden someone taps me on my shoulder. I turn around in surprise as no one really spoke to me in school before, as I was the loner type.

It was the star of school. The athlete who carried his team to victory on multiple occasions.

John Wilkos, is his name.

"Hey, dude. I've never really spoken to you before. I mean no one really knows much about you.

I was wondering if you'd be down to come to this party, I'm throwing for all seniors."

I widened my eyes in amazement. I was actually getting invited to something. But, alas my astonishment I denied his invitation. Simply because I just don't belong in that crowd.

I said

"Thanks, but I have something to do. So, uh. Can't go."

I was hoping he wouldn't make this - rejection - to an almighty football star, a big thing.

John put his hands in his pockets. Muttering something under his breath and then he spoke.

"Look, to be honest with you. I never noticed you in school. I don't think much people did. I apologize for that, I guess.. I just felt guilty about all of it."

I nodded my head in understanding . Although it's a little too late for all of this. I didn't know what to say and so I just replied with something simple.

"I understand."

I think that was accurate of how I felt in this moment. Nothing but simplicity at the everlasting notion of my solitude.

John got called out to his friends and taking that as my cue to leave, I walked away before anyone noticed and disappeared in the wind.

The people I left behind started talking to John. Speaking about the big party they were gonna throw. As they were finished with all the excited talk John turned around as to continue the conversation but there was no one there. His friends looked at him in curiosity as to what he was looking for, and so they asked.

"I was just talking to Constant about the party and if he wanted to go. Since, you know. We never really included him in any of the activities as seniors, or ever really."

One of his friends sticking out from the rest. The beautiful girl of the school. Known in all of her glory as the smartest and given the award of best student of the year. Her name being Cynthia Wallowitz. She, more then anyone else agree'd with John.

"Yeah, I sympathize with you. It's unfortunate that we never got the chance to speak with him. I even heard he failed this year; but also that he is dropping out."

John nodded his head.

"Well, too late now. I've gotta head out and get prepared. I'll see you all at the party."

His friends all dispersed heading to their own respective homes. Only one stayed and looked up at the sky. Her name was Athea.

"I wonder where he is now..."
