Heian High School
"I'm going to do it!" Grace mumbles to herself. I'm going to finally gather the courage to give him my valentine! Grace tightens her fist in excitement or nerves, she can't tell at the moment. She has been crushing on him for the past 2 years and all she has said to him was, "Excuse me." So she could get to her seat that was behind him.
The bell rings and all her classmates pounce to the classroom door eager to leave the confines of the professor's strict stare. Grace might have a mission but she is not ready to be turned into a rug from all the pushing. As she collects her school supplies, she hears a shriek.
"Teenagers...." the professor huffs under their breath.
"Wow! Someone is really excited about something. Maybe a valentine from their crush?" Grace softly blushes as she pulls her valentine from the pages of her textbook. More and more screams follow the original and the sounds of students gasping and footsteps. Figuring out something is terribly wrong Grace approaches the large group of people, and time starts to slow down.
Multiple professors are trying to calm the student body and lead them away from the center of the circle. But all she hears are drips. Unnatural drips. Like you accidentally left the sink facet on and when it accumulates too much liquid it drips on the drain. Drifting closer to the sound, Grace's hands start to shake. "No, this can't be happening! I just saw him an hour or so ago!" Her mind fogging up unable to comprehend what is in front of her.
Suddenly a hand shoved her toward the pool of liquid and her hands automatically release the crinkled card to protect herself. 'Splash' and before her very eyes her well thought out card that she spent most of her previous night on, and filled with a 17 year olds hopes and dreams, slowly become stained by blood. Her eyes quickly start to tear up but Grace still can't believe what's right in front of her.
"It's a dream. No a nightmare. When I awake up I will be in my bed and laugh how crazy this is." Softly laughing she pinches herself only to feel the twinge of pain from her action. Her eyes widen. "No no no!" Her mind is slowly starting to collapse she feels tugging on her right arm but she ignores it. She raises her eyes to what is next to her. No not what, a who. Who is next to her. Her beloved. And darkness descends.
