Chapter 6 - Chapter 3

Alicia POV

When this all started I thought it was all a sick joke, I was hoping that Alex and my brother were lying or at least exaggerating the truth of the matter but I was wrong, horribly wrong. If anything they may have under played how bad things were and how bad they would get. We should have left with him, but then we got trapped here with the soldiers, and now things are simply crazy.

The soldiers left us and now our parents are making crazy plans to get nick and ofelias mom back. It has to be crazy right? They are going to basically walk untold numbers of the dead right to their base. At least I got mom to promise to drive by Alexander's place since that's in the direction they want to go anyways.

Back to normal POV

It's been a long two weeks or there abouts. It should be about time for Daniel to open the stadium and let out all the infected. A lot of people will die when that happens, or at least I assume that to be the case and not just the soldiers. I will have to augment their plans a bit, let enough out and then close the doors back.

While I waited for this little shindig to pop off, I have been busy in the meantime. I have taken several of the people who wanted to learn how to protect themselves out to hunt the infected in the city, and I finally got to wear my load out! Though it was somewhat heavy, when you included the backpack full of spare magazines, it was worth it.

Mostly going out was me, Victoria, one of the bouncers named Johnny, a cute Asian girl named Kimmie, Alexandria and Cara.

I went somewhat lightweight for the girls load outs, an HK 9mm MP5 and a dozen magazines each with a pistol and three spare magazines for those. Johnny chose the FAL rifle because he liked it in COD which killed me a bit inside but oh well, he hit his targets pretty good with it at least. I know this because iv had them practice on moving targets for the last week IE the walking dead.

A few others wanted to learn as well but they weren't interested in going outside the fence line so I gave them basic classes on shooting, there targets were anything that came near the fence, I put suppressors on all their rifles so as to not draw any extra attention to the estate.

Anyways back to my team, they are kitted up and wearing ACUs that I pillaged from army surplus's so we all match at least.

I also had everyone who wants to go out beyond the fence do some minor cardio and strength exercises, at least an hour a day minimum, unless we go out that day, which to be fair we have gone out several times over the last two weeks, at first it was me going by myself, I brought back a few survivors every time usually kids that managed to hide but one of them was also Kimmie. I think she is trying to pay it back by going back out and watching my back or just to save others. It's hard to read her, but I could tell she was tough.

She also seemed to have made quick friends with Victoria. I could tell they were plotting but I couldn't tell what about exactly but I wasn't overly worried. I doubt it would be bad.

That brings us back to tonight. The night Daniel leads a horde to the military camp. While I wouldn't stop it from happening completely I would make some changes. I had my team sitting a mile out, in my Ford Escape as well as a school bus spray painted black, parked well out of the way of the walkers that would come from the stadium and out of sight of the base while I worked behind the scenes.

I was currently under disillusionment as well as notice-me-not charms waiting for Daniel to walk out of sight before I banished all the doors closed squashing several walkers in the process, and kept them shit with a OP sticking charm. Now the air retrieval will still be called off and the military will still probably be overrun though nowhere near as badly or quickly I suspect.

So with that I apparated to the base still under my charms and began searching for the doctor that basically offs herself and her patients. It only took a few minutes and I could see her and Travis's ex wife on a roof, while the alarms whaled in the background, so I silently apparated near them to follow them inside. The others should already by in the base by now also.

Once she told Eliza to leave I turned off my charms standing about 5 feet behind her "hello doctor, it's an interesting day isn't it?" I really wasn't, considering what was happening outside and the obnoxiously loud alarms going off around us. But she spun around quickly, looking startled as shit.

"W-who the hell are you and how did you get here?" She said fearfully knowing she would probably die soon.

"I can save you and your patients doctor... isn't that all you need to know?" She looked disbelieving at me. Probably thinking I'm crazy so I called out for Helia, who flamed to my shoulder. I love seeing people's shocked faces by this point. It amuses me for some reason.

I just walked over to a random patient, who happened to be maybe a 10 year old little girl and fed her a vile of Phoenix tears. She was healed in seconds and soon sat up looking confused. While the doctor seemed to try to find words yet none came.

After a few moments though "h-how is this possible?! That shouldn't be possible! Can you do the same for others?!" She was beginning to sound desperate and hysterical at this point.

"Sorry doctor, it's not something that can be mass produced, it also heals the bitten so they don't turn but it can't cure the dead either. It's one of the reasons I want you with us. Maybe you can figure something else out?" I tell her leadingly maybe she will try to use it to make a cure in the future.

"I wish I had access to this weeks ago" she tells me with a sad sigh shoulders slumped and looking glum.

"Maybe. And maybe I would have agreed also, but iv seen the government soldiers killing unarmed and non-infected people in the streets for no reason and now the government plans to carpet bomb many major cities." Not much else needed to be said about that really.

"I understand your reasons and though I dislike the fact that it was probably necessary, I still wish I had access." She almost whined at this point.

"Do you have enough for the rest of the patients here?" She asked me hopefully.

"Mmmm iv found that it depends on the patient as to how much is needed. One drop can heal anything, wounds, infection, al the the point of almost dead or dying. But if someone is only infected with a minor bite, the tears can be diluted to be used on multiple people. It won't regrow limbs or replace something missing but it will hes things perfectly." I tell her the options so that she can make her own informed decisions with her patients.

"I haven't had time to test it overmuch but so long as the wound is also minor it should be able to use the diluted version, it also cured someone of leukemia if that helps any." She looked at me in uncomfortable ways after that. I was somewhat scared by the ways her eyes were sparkling almost like Dumbledore is described to do.

With that she made quick work of things, quickly decimating my stock of tears but ah well, there's always more. Eventually anyways. And with that Helia sang her songs and people began to wake up.

Some of the nurses who hadn't left yet but were still far away were just looking in our direction in awe.

"I need you to make a choice doctor, do you wish to come with us and continue to save lives?" I asked her already knowing her answer.

"YES! I mean yes. I will be coming... c can you take others or is it just us?" She asked somewhat anxiously.

"I won't leave a soul behind who doesn't want to be left behind doctor... I can at least promise you that. I have a bus nearby with my team waiting. We just got to get there." By now the patients were mostly sitting up being looked at by the remaining nurses and them explaining what happened and how they were healed. To say they were awed by such things would be an understatement, though the few soldiers in the group looked curious at me. Maybe accessing me.

"Get your patients ready doctor, they should be well enough to stand and walk. Ohhh! My name is Alexander by the way. Sorry for the lack of introduction.

"Doctor Bethany Exner" she said quickly while checking over her patients, removing IVs and helping people up.

I just sat there near the little girl, letting her pet Helia who was crooning in response. She's a bit of an attention whore.

While all that was going on I called my team to have them begin clearing the walkers there should only be a few hundred of them left by now even with the soldiers running.

A few minutes later Eliza and the others came into the infirmary looking for a way out. Thankfully they only ran into a few walkers on the way here which means more people should survive.

"Hello again mrs. Clark. How you doing now nick?" I say to the tired looking group, the two people mentioned perking up and walking to the fore of the group to see who I was.

"You were the young man who helped Alicia with my son the day before this all started wernt you? I'm glad you are doing well. I didn't realize you were a soldier though....?" She ends leadingly.

"Oh im not a soldier, it just makes moving around easier and safer when out in the city. In case you run into others." I tell her somewhat amused. They obviously don't like soldiers by the way she sighed in relief.

"Have you changed your mind about coming to my estate? I was a little surprised that nobody called." I lightly chided. She grimaced at that though.

"The phone was broken when Alicia was attacked by a walker. And then we were trapped in our community by the soldiers." She told me, annoyed by that obviously.

And with that we get through the pleasantries. I of course asked if Alicia was alright and all that but it was time to go.

"Bethany, do we have another way out? I assume you all want to hook up with your family as I doubt you would leave them far. My team should be clearing the base of walkers though, as we speak." We have been hearing the bullets flying for a while now which increased in tempo before they arrived in the infirmary.

"Through the icu and sub level. It's probably the best way." She then looks to me. "You said you have a bus nearby for everyone right?"

"Yes, we can fit about 60 people all told, though we can travel slowly so people can trail behind us until we can find more cars, or we can make multiple trips I suppose? we have time until the government pacifies the city."

And with that everyone began to form up a line, I sent Helia away much to the dismay of the little girl whose name I learned was Amelia and the surprise of the newcomers and continued awe of those already present. "We can talk about that later I suppose" I directed to the new group.

I lead the way while carrying the little girl in one arm, who didn't seem to want to be free of means a pistol in the other hand. Sigh..... I feel I have been doing that a lot lately. (I'm too lazy to do too many different POVs even if they are deserved.) and Bethany was behind me giving me directions while everyone else followed behind. I did give a pistol to one of the soldiers after a quick mind scan to see if he would fuck me at first chance. He was done with this shit as much as anyone though and he held the rear.

It didn't take long to get to the pile of ashes and I could see and hear ofelia breaking down while Daniel guided her along with the group, my heart went out to her as that's a horrible thing to see. But we had to keep going.

With that I had everyone wait outside the parking garage as I knew what was coming next. Madison and her group went in yelling for Alicia and Chris I left Amelia with Bethany and went with them as well with my pistol ready to cap an asshole, and like in the show, he popped out of hiding a few seconds after the kids did.

When everything played out and he moved to shoot ofelia, because for whatever reason he never looked in my direction (hint notice-me-not hint)I headshot his ass sending him to the next dimension. When everybody looked at me dumbly I just shrugged and told the rest of the people to move up.

Once everyone was comfy a few minutes later my escape and a bus pulled into the parking structure with my team looking mentally exhausted but none the worse for ware.

We did manage to pick up a few more people on our way out as nowhere near as many people died this time around, some of them were already on the bus and were offloaded with the rest of the group as they were saved by the girls and Johnny.

Firstly we loaded the older folks or those who had other issues which only accounted for 9 people after that we put the children in which was sadly only 11 of them not including Amelia as she was firmly attached to my hip it seems. Then had the women load up which still left like 20 men and 10 women not even including the Clark group as they have 2 vehicles they can squeeze into if they want.

"Alrighty ladies and gents, the rest of us get the joy of hoofing it unless we find some working vehicles." I say as Victoria walks up to me giving me a one armed hug.

"There should be a working LMTV and maybe a humvee, things looked pretty abandoned as we went through boss." She said the last bit amused.

"Alrighty, you heard the lady, do y'all know how to drive them?" I directed toward the few soldiers in the group and they agreed that that did.

"Alright then, can you take us to them so we can load up then?" She hummed her agreement.

And with that we were on our way back to our estate. I did talk to Alicia for a few minutes to see how she was doing, and she seemed happy enough to know I was alright and even happier to have me there to help everyone. They would be coming with us and checking everything out for now though I could see victor strand looking hesitant. He obviously wanted to get back to whatever that dudes name was that owns the Abigail.
