The sudden knock on the door startled Lydia. She lifted her head, heart pounding, when a voice came from the other side.
"Miss Wu, we've brought the refreshments and hot towels you ordered."
Lydia frowned. She was confused, as she had never asked for anything since she arrived. Lydia, hastily wiping her tears, half-ran to the door. The moment she opened it, a maidservant wheeled a trolley inside before Lydia could utter a word.
"O—kay," Lydia closed the door behind them. Lydia looked at the maidservant, then began to speak, "I don't think—"
The maid pressed a finger to her lips, silencing her. A strange grin curved her face as she twisted the bracelet on her wrist. Suddenly, a shimmering, transparent dome formed around them, like an invisible bowl sealing them in.
"Lydia, are you okay? It's me." The maid seized Lydia's hands, her expression full of concern.
Lydia's eyes went wide. "Are you… Maddy?"
