Scarlet cleared her mind, and called out a name 'Zei Zei'.

In the Captain's quarters on the Black Dragon, there was a large gold cage placed near a large window, that almost always seemed to be open. It carried a light and peaceful breeze today.
If you looked carefully through the foliage, there was a creature perched on a branch in the cage, but you were only able to see bright red and orange feathers.
This was Scarlet's best friend and spirit animal, they had made a soul binding contract and were bound forever. Wherever Scarlet's soul traveled too, Zei Zei did too.
Zei Zei is a Fire Phoenix, and only Scarlet can call on her. They have a mind link thanks to the soul binding contract and can hear her no matter the distance.
Zei Zei could be a tad lazy though. . .
'Zei Zei, wake up, I need you to come find me' Scarlet mindlinked with her.
'What is it? It's my afternoon nap' despite her tone being calm and sleepy, she always had a charming voice.
'You are always napping, if you come find me I will have a special treat for you' Scarlet bribed the beautiful red bird who was stretching out in her gold cage.
'Fine, but I swear if it is more of those berries, I will be angry' Zei Zei warned her human.
Scarlet giggled 'it's not berries I promise, it's something that we both love' she tempted.
Now that got the lazy bird's attention, 'Alright I will be right there, I will track your soul' she pushed the cage open and took off from the open window. The light breeze helped carry her into the bright blue sky.
Scarlet cut off communication and looked at Roman who was starring at her with a concerned look.
"Are . . . are you officially mad? Like should I contact a doctor?" Roman asked with wide eyes, he just watched her shut her eyes for about 5 minutes and then giggle to herself! For no reason!
His comment made her burst out into laughter. "Duh bro! I'm surprised you haven't noticed how crazy I am sooner! How many years has it been and you still didn't know?" she laughed maniacally with a raised eyebrow to freak him out.
His eyes widened even more as he backed away from this demented girl.
Suddenly there was tapping on the window that was faced towards the back of the boat in the Captain's office. It startled Roman and made him jump, he looked and saw a huge red bird perched right outside his window.
"Zei Zei!" Scarlet lovingly called out to the red bird as she made her way to open the window. She held out her arm for the rather large bird to climb onto and brought her into the office.
Roman was officially freaked out, "why the hell is there a bird in my office?!? Wait hold on! Why do you have a Fire Phoenix just casually sitting on your arm?!?" Roman was pointing and yelling at Scarlet and the Phoenix resting on her companion.
"Shut up Roman!" Scarlet hissed, "why are you so damn loud?!"
Roman just stared at the two in shock! There was an actual fire phoenix in his office! They are super rare and hard to get a hold of! Let alone make a contract with one!
He continued to stare at this weird duo for a few moments, this large Phoenix was almost half the size of Scarlet, it could easily take her whole arm off! And here she is just scratching under its beak with a couple fingers, without a care in the world and a lovesick smile plastered on her face!
"Are you done freaking out?" Scarlet finally asked Roman who had been stunned into silence.
"I-I guess so. . ." he stammered.
"Great, now give me a pen and paper so I can write down our plan and send it to my crew"
"There is some you can use on my desk" he was sweating with the way this bird was staring at him, like he was the next meal. "Scarlet, how did you make a contract with this Fire Phoenix?"
"That's a story for another time little bro" Scarlet walked over and sat in his chair and Zei Zei leaped off Scarlet's arm and landed with a small thud onto Romans desk. She was patiently waiting for Scarlet to finish up with the letter so she could deliver it and get her prize.
". . . So . . . it's name is Zei Zei?" Roman hesitantly asked and as soon as he did, the intimidating bird turned to look at him with a fire in her eyes.
Scarlet patted the top of the disgruntled Phoenix's head to soothe her. "Zei Zei is a girl, please refer to her as she. She hates being called an 'it'." Scarlet corrected Roman and Zei Zei clicked her beak in agreement.
Scarlet finished up writing her plan down and rolled it up for Zei Zei to carry.
"Alright! Looks like everything is in place!" She lifted her arm for the Fire Phoenix to climb onto and stuck her out the window so she would have an easier time with her take off into the sky.
