Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 : There's Still Hope

Jun Hong : "Heh... So you actually planned to make me go against Mei Xing during the game? And I'm guessing that you knew I used to trained under Coach Wu because Coach Chai told you?"

Hui Yin : "Yeah, that's right....

*head down and feeling guilty*

I just made things worse, didn't I? Jia Li is definitely not going to talk to me after this since my plan had failed... Besides, I even made her tricked her closest friend..."

Jun Hong : Well... About that.. MAYBE your plan didn't fail completely...

Hui Yin : What do you mean? She's even angry because some of the members were being busybodies... There's no way to persuade her to join the basketball team now.

Jun Hong : I'm talking about your plan to make me go against Mei Xing. Actually... Before you all came, I did like... Annoyed her perhaps. .. So I ended up playing a one on one with her...

Hui Yin : You what?! What did you... Most importantly, what happen next? Who won?

Jun Hong : Well... It only lasted for a short while because Ying Yue suddenly charged in and interrupt us.

Then Jun Hong and Hui Yin both turned their heads, looking at Ying Yue.

Ying Yue felt as if they were blaming her so she tried to defend herself.

Ying Yue : What!? It's my fault now? How would I know if there's something going on when no one bothers to tell me. *feeling dissatisfied*

Jun Hong : No, Ying Yue just relax okay.... we're not saying it was your fault that things didn't turn out well. I'm just... Curious you know? What would've happen? Who would've won?

[ Her eyes didn't look like she hated basketball at all.. And the weird thing was, I had a feeling that she was actually looking down at me...]

Ying Yue : Who would've won? Shouldn't it be you? She didn't trained for almost 3 years already.

Hui Yin : No matter how talented you are... If you didn't train your body consistently, it would've been hard to keep up with those who've trained every day dedicatedly.

Especially when it comes to endurance, stamina and speed. As a result, Mei Xing would probably be out of breath and her speed would've slowed down. Then you would've won and make Mei Xing feel frustrated. And that frustration would make her to come back for a rematch....

Hui Yin suddenly realized that Mei Xing could've join the basketball team if everything went according to plan.

" Ahhh!!! Then we could've say that only members are allowed to challenge someone in the team. Then she would've no choice but to join because of her pride...." *feeling even more depressed*

Ying Yue : .... [Are you being serious right now... What makes you think she's prideful in the first place when you don't even know her?]

Jun Hong : " Hahaha , I'm amazed how far you had planned. I don't know how fast she used to be, but just now.. She was definitely fast. I bet she waited for me to let my guard down. As a result, her sudden quick movement almost made me lose my balance."

Ying Yue : Then why did you let your guard down?

Jun Hong : Um... I thought I should give her a chance haha... [ I can't say that I was entranced by her eyes right...]

Seeing Hui Yin's head down, not saying anything.. Jun Hong sigh and added,

" But I think there's still hope"

After hearing what Jun Hong said, only then Hui Yin look up at Jun Hong. Looking at Jun Hong's eyes, she knows that he wasn't lying when he said that.

[ There's still hope?]

Hui Yin : Why... Why are you so sure?

Jun Hong : "Because I don't believe that she hate basketball."

[ Plus, I saw the determination in her eyes.. I can also feel that she still enjoys playing and love basketball... ]

Ying Yue and Hui Yin : ....

Ying Yue : Jun Hong ah... Just cause you believe Mei Xing doesn't hate basketball, doesn't mean it's the truth.

Hui Yin : Ying Yue is right.. Jia Li believe so too but no matter how many times she tried to invite her to play or watch basketball games , she always refused. She used to stabbed a basketball with a knife in front of everyone just to stop them from forcing her to play again...

Ying Yue : To that extent?!!

Hui Yin : Mnn... Jia Li told me as a warning.

Jun Hong : "Believe me, I saw her warming up just now. Guess what? The training drills that Coach Wu used to make me do as part of my training, she used it as part of her warm up session.

[No wonder I felt that drills she did seems like the ones I used to do]

She sweats a lot, but she was not out of breath. Judging from her body build, anyone could tell that she had consistently trained her body.

Ying Yue : Is it wrong for a girl wanting to stay fit?

Jun Hong : Ugh... My point is, I don't think she stopped training COMPLETELY... If she did, regardless how talented you are, without consistent fundamental training on daily basis, would've all her shots went it?

Ying Yue : Wow! All of them?

Jun Hong : Yes.. Even her shots from the 3 point line. The form of her body before, during and after shooting...Her footsteps, skills.. And aura... I have to admit she really resembles her father..

Ying Yue : I don't get it... If she still trains herself, why won't she play when people asked her to?

Hui Yin : Based on what Jia Li said, Mei Xing blames herself for her parent's death. That's why she doesn't play in any games anymore despite receiving many offers from different professional teams. But I still don't know what she meant by " blaming herself for her parent's death."

Ying Yue : " They died in a helicopter crash right? It was all over the news because Wu Ju Long and Wang Xi Feng were both the pride of our country."

For the country to suddenly lose two renowned individuals at the same time, there were too many things to handle. Everything related to their death were thoroughly investigated and their funerals were handled by the government.

As for their only daughter, Mei Xing, many of her distant relatives came from nowhere, saying that they were more than willing to take her in. In fact, they were many families, close friends with her parents, who's also willing to adopt her.

However, there's rumors spread that Mei Xing politely refused all of their offers and decided to go for boarding school in the USA. All the paper works were handled by an agent appointed by the government to specifically assist her in any of her requests.

She chose a school where students would be focusing in their studies since their exams are 100%. No marks for coursework or club activities to be taken as part of their overall marks. Many suspected that she knew that they all just wanted to get what her parents had left for her - money, lots and lots of money.

Hui Yin : " She went through a lot at a young age.. It wouldn't be surprising if she had trust issues... Whatever her parents had in their possession would of course be inherited by her, the only successor.

So instead of being loved and cared by her distant relatives, they were just going after her parent's assets.... "

Ying Yue : ....

Jun Hong : [ Well, whatever her real story is... It's not going to be easy to unlock her heart ]
