Chapter 86 - Five of the Greatest Minds (1)

The sun had just passed midday when the Atlas Tower's array lit up again as three males, two young and one grown, appeared. After an hour or so of finalizing some minor details, the meeting in Cyelume was adjourned, with everyone but Norani's true body going about their intended business. Norani made a second clone after Luca suggested to do so and sent it off to the distant northern mountains. From the Dragonborn lad's directions, she referenced using a portion of the world's memories to locate where the expedition's final resting place was. Luca's memories stated that the entrance to Hylaneas was about two or three leagues north-northwest of its location, on the outside of a mountain ring, just within the borders of the Dragon Clan's mountain range. Her second clone moved almost as fast as the first, sparing no energy in its travel.

Arthur had decided to postpone the Atlas Tower investigation temporarily, as there was still a great deal of time before it was needed. He planned to get around to it by the end of the following month when information from the Dark Faction came. Skyhaven, on the other hand, he planned to send some scouts, along with some from the other three nations, to examine and explore it. If all went well, they would attempt to reclaim the ancient fortress by the end of next year. The underground portion of the fortress was not accessible ahead of time without the key opening the way, so that would be put off until a later date.

Arcturus, despite his very minor part in the meeting, was given a great gift from the Dreamwalker in order to aid in his growth. Using her memory magic and Pseudo-Sage powers, she converted her knowledge of the Lv. 1 Non-Elemental [Telepathy] spell and imprinted it into the whelp's mind. Though all it did was grant the first and most basic form of the spell, the ability to essentially imbue another with an ability or skill without requiring any training was remarkably difficult to achieve. Aside from deities and those on the path of the Sages, only masters of Spirit magic or highly advanced Spiritual Druids could perform such an ability. Of course, though he learned it immediately, he ended up developing a telepathic stutter as he did his best to adapt to it. Communication without a soul connection like between him and his partner was something that would require great practice and constant focus on maintaining the spell whilst speaking. As such, he often broke the spell and had to restart to continue his words, only to do it all over again.

Luca was given a monumental gift as an investment from the Dreamwalker on top of the support of all of the rulers present at the meeting. Just as she had with Arcturus, she condensed a vast portion of her spell knowledge into a seal that she embedded in his mind. Originally, it would slowly unlock as he grew stronger, opening up knowledge of more and more spells over time. The System overrode this detail by examining it carefully so as not to break it, storing all of its information in the database, where it would keep it locked up until needed. The seal remained, as it contained parts of her experiences with the spells, which could not be converted into simple data and thus remained untouched. Considering how Norani had more than a millennium of magical expertise, Luca could not imagine the number of spells within his new gift, many of which had been lost to time for many reasons. She wished she could give more to the young Arcturus, but the Dragon Clan was very reclusive and thus kept their knowledge secret. Even though she was familiar with many of their abilities after decades of fighting alongside them in the Heroic Era's great war, she did not know how they worked aside from the basic concept, which was not enough for any ability or spell. The exception to this was the signature Dragon Breath power that all dragons had, but how the Stellar Dragons performed it and what effects it had were unknown since there had not been one for millennia. All she could do was promise to try and contact the Dragon Clan.

The first to speak upon their return was the human king, who rubbed the ring on his finger absentmindedly, "It seems I need to send out a summons for my children to return immediately. Especially my eldest son. Considering the coming future, they should all be aware of at least a portion of the matters at hand. Since my eldest son is set to inherit the throne, he should be informed of most of the details."

"I recommend informing the guildmasters of both major guilds and the Royal Court Mage. The Archmages too, but only after we receive word from the Martial God. They are supposed to be neutral as an organization, but they are still able to have their own allegiances." Luca had expected such an order from Arthur and had planned to bring up his idea when the time came. "If possible, I'd send a force to defend Clearpine City just in case. Even in the future I know, nothing was known about the true strength of that royal family. In the off-chance that the royal family manages to survive the onslaught of the enraged Martial God, they might go ahead with their plans and attack the city anyway."

"Hmm... I can't send out the royal guard this early and the Wyvern Knights Battalion would draw too much attention... I'll speak of this more with the Military Commander later on. He would be more informed on the statuses of the battalions." The king sighed as they departed the Atlas Tower, making their way back to the palace, "Crescius, his students and his followers are all capable mages in their own rights. They would be able to reinforce the city's magical defences whilst the military battalion would handle most of the physical defences."
