Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

Naruto stood atop a skyscraper, the wind brushing against his cloak as he surveyed the city below. The world of mutants and heroes was a fascinating place, filled with potential, both in terms of allies and adversaries. But for now, he was simply observing, taking in the sights, gauging the pulse of this world's inhabitants.

His musings were interrupted by a voice filled with amusement.

"Naruto, what will you do now?"

Kurama, resting lazily on his head, peeked down with his usual mischievous grin.

"Look around," Naruto replied, stretching his arms. "I want to see what the people have to offer."

Kurama huffed. "How about a challenge? You need to relax, and Hinata is handling things, so you can take some time off. Especially since you already located some potential candidates for the battle."

Naruto raised an eyebrow. "Hmm… Let's see. I'll give you two hours. So, what's the challenge?"

Kurama's smirk widened. "Hit on any girl that I choose."

For a moment, there was silence. Then—

"Kurama, have you gone insane? I will tell Hinata that you need some brain surgery."

The fox let out a sharp bark of laughter. "Hmph! Quit the high-class act. You're just afraid you can't do it. Also, Hinata won't mind you getting another woman in the first place, and I only said to make them attracted—not to get to that stage."

Naruto crossed his arms, unimpressed. "So, you want me to charm someone? That's it?"

"That's it. Let's see if you still have the skills."

A slow smirk spread across Naruto's face. "You are on. So, what do I win?"

Kurama waved his paw lazily. "What do you want?"

Naruto thought for a moment before grinning. "Nothing big. But if I win, you act like a proper fox for a whole week."

Kurama's ears perked up in alarm. "A fox? You mean scampering around, chasing my tail, sleeping in the sun—"

"Exactly." Naruto's grin widened. "No talking. No sarcasm. Just a cute, fluffy fox."

Kurama narrowed his eyes before scoffing. "We'll see."

With that, Naruto canceled his invisibility, landing smoothly in the middle of a busy street. People glanced his way, some barely paying attention, while others stopped in curiosity.

Kurama chuckled, already picking his target. He was sure the woman he had in mind wouldn't tolerate Naruto's antics.

"Alright, let's begin."

Naruto leaned against a streetlight, arms crossed, his usual confident smirk in place. The night had gone better than even he expected.

"Your loss." He flashed a grin at Kurama, his golden eyes practically glowing in amusement. "What can I say? It turns out I still got it."

Kurama huffed in annoyance. "Tch. I thought you might've lost touch with your base skill, but I didn't expect sluts to actually like you genuinely."

Naruto snickered. Kurama, in an attempt to make him fail, had deliberately chosen the type of women Naruto disliked the most—those who saw love and relationships as nothing more than fleeting pleasure, who jumped from partner to partner without a second thought. They were women he normally had no patience for.

And yet, against all odds, he had somehow managed to talk them out of their lifestyle instead of flirting with them.

Kurama still couldn't believe what he'd just witnessed. "You literally convinced a group of sluts to abandon sluttery in a single day. I don't know whether to be impressed or terrified."

Naruto shrugged nonchalantly. "Meh, it wasn't much. I've handled worse. People are easy to deal with once you start reading them."

Kurama snorted. "Not wrong, but most people can't do that. It's your special skill."

Naruto chuckled. "Yeah, one I'm grateful for. And hey, check this out—looks like our new friend is on a date."

Kurama's ears twitched as he followed Naruto's gaze. Down below, moving through the streets of New York, was none other than Kurt Wagner—better known as Nightcrawler. The blue-skinned mutant was currently strolling through the city with a girl by his side, chatting animatedly.

Naruto's smirk turned downright devious. "How about we crash it?"

Kurama's tails swished behind him in excitement. "Sometimes, you can be so evil. Let's do it."

With a flicker of movement, the duo vanished from the rooftop, heading straight for their unsuspecting target.

Kurt's heart nearly leaped out of his chest the moment he heard that familiar voice. His body tensed instinctively, and before he even processed the thought, he had already moved—placing himself protectively between Amanda and the approaching blonde.

His golden eyes narrowed slightly as he met Naruto's playful gaze.

"Hey bro, I hope I'm not disturbing your date."

Kurt swallowed, his mind racing. He had seen many things in his life, but Naruto Uzumaki wasn't someone he could ever get used to. The man was unpredictable—charming yet unreadable, mischievous yet terrifyingly powerful. Kurt had only been in his presence a handful of times, yet every moment felt like a test of endurance.

"Is he a friend?" Amanda asked curiously, her bright blue eyes shifting between the two men.

To anyone else, Amanda Sefton was simply a beautiful, ordinary woman—graceful, kind, and intelligent. But Kurt knew that wasn't the full truth. Amanda had a certain otherworldly air about her, something deep and hidden beneath her warm exterior.

What Kurt didn't know, however, was that Amanda wasn't just any woman—she was a mage and had been watching him closely for months.

She wasn't here by accident.

Kurt had unknowingly killed her brother in the past, and while Amanda had always harbored feelings for him, she had never forgiven or forgotten that act. Their three months of dating had been a test—an attempt to determine if Kurt was truly the monster she had imagined or just a lost soul with a dark past.

Thus far, he had been nothing but gentle, kind, and full of remorse.

But her heart still hesitated.

Naruto took one glance at Amanda, and everything clicked into place.

'Ah, now this is interesting…' He thought to himself.

Kurt, however, was still wary. His tail flicked slightly as he gave a nod. "Yes, a friend. How may I be of help, Teacher?" His voice carried an edge of caution, as he wasn't sure what Naruto wanted with him now of all times.

Naruto's grin widened. "Relax, Kurt. I just want to get to know you better."

Kurt's expression twitched slightly. He leaned in to whisper away from Amanda's earshot.

"Is this really the time?"

Naruto casually shrugged. "Of course it is. I'll make your date better with my shining presence."

Kurt's tail flicked again, his suspicion growing. "You just want to ruin it, don't you?"

"Trust me, it's going to be fun. I'll even teach you how to lead a relationship since you're a bit… reserved." Naruto grinned, giving him a friendly slap on the back.

Kurt nearly staggered forward from the sheer force of it. His expression shifted into one of deep concern.

'I might have been too quick to judge. But… how is he going to help me exactly?'

Naruto turned toward Amanda with a bright, charming smile. "Amanda, this is my student, Kurt. I thought it'd be a good chance to show him a thing or two about relationships. You wouldn't mind if I tagged along, would you?"

Amanda stared at Naruto with an amused glint in her eyes. She wasn't sure what to make of him yet, but his confidence was infectious.

"I don't mind." She finally replied with a warm smile.

Kurt felt his heart skip a beat. That smile—it was everything to him. Amanda was the first woman who had ever made him feel this way, and deep down, he believed they were meant to be together.

Naruto, on the other hand, was watching the couple with quiet amusement.

Everything about them was a mess.

Kurt was blindly in love, unaware of Amanda's hidden agenda. Amanda was conflicted, torn between her affection and her lingering pain. And yet, Naruto could see that they had the potential for something real—if only they could move past their baggage.

With a single glance, Naruto had already seen everything—Amanda's disguise, her struggle, her emotions.

'She's far from normal…' He mused as he observed the young sorceress.

Still, he wasn't here to expose her secrets.

At least… not yet.

He flashed his usual grin. "Thank you! I promise to be on my best behavior and provide any assistance you may require."

And just like that, Kurt's peaceful evening had just turned into something completely unpredictable.

"Look! It's Spider-Man!"

Kurt's soul nearly left his body.

His yellow eyes widened in horror as he turned toward the chaos ahead. There, soaring through the air with his signature web-slinging flair, was Spider-Man, and chasing him down like a lunatic was the Green Goblin.

Kurt groaned internally. "Why now?"

Before he could even think of what to do, Naruto was already gone—appearing beside Spider-Man as if he had been there the whole time.

"Hey, Spidey! How's it going?"

Peter, mid-air, barely glanced over before recognizing that familiar blond troublemaker. He chuckled. "Oh, you know, just a lovely day for some good old-fashioned Goblin-smashing."

Naruto grinned. "Great minds think alike. You need any help, Captain?"

Peter snorted at the joke, smoothly dodging a pumpkin bomb and catching it with his web before tossing it high into the sky. "Nothing much, Private, but I'd appreciate it if you handled the civilians."

Naruto nodded. "Affirmative, Captain. Consider it done."

With a snap of his fingers, a golden shimmer spread through the air, and suddenly, every civilian within range disappeared—safely teleported a mile away from the fight.

Peter whistled. "Damn, that's convenient. The ass-whopping is now officially ready to commence!"

He shot forward, weaving through the air like a blur of red and blue. The battle suddenly felt so much easier now that he didn't have to worry about anyone getting caught in the crossfire.

Peter let out a tired sigh as he swung through the Park, dodging pumpkin bombs and barely avoiding getting singed.

Another day, another ruined date.

He had just been enjoying some much-needed time with MJ when, surprise, surprise, Green Goblin decided to crash the party.

Literally.

Peter wasn't even shocked at this point. If he had a dollar for every time a supervillain interrupted his dates, he'd be richer than Tony Stark.

But as annoying as this was, Peter had to admit…

The blond troublemaker from yesterday made things more entertaining.

Naruto had this weird, carefree energy that made fighting feel less stressful.

Even now, as they bantered mid-battle, Peter found himself actually having fun.

Maybe—just maybe—this fight wouldn't be so bad after all.

Green Goblin snarled as he hurled more explosives, but Peter was too fast. Catching a chunk of falling debris with his webs, he spun it around like a wrecking ball and sent it slamming into Goblin's face.

The impact sent the villain flying backward, crashing straight into the trees in the middle of the park.

Before he could recover, Peter shot another web, snagging Goblin's leg and slamming him back into the ground.

He didn't stop.

With a quick flip, Peter used both his feet to stomp down onto Goblin's back before launching himself into the air. Then, using his webs, he accelerated his descent, bringing all his weight down into a devastating blow—BOOM!

A small crater formed beneath them.

Goblin groaned, dazed and beaten. His signature maniacal laughter was replaced with coughing up dirt.

Peter let out a breath and wiped his brow. "Whew! Finally got this guy!"

He quickly webbed the unconscious villain and hung him upside-down from the nearest tree.

Clap. Clap. Clap.

Peter turned his head as Naruto strolled into the clearing, looking extremely impressed. Beside him, Kurt had fully transformed into Nightcrawler, forgoing his human disguise.

Mutants weren't outright hated, but discrimination against them was definitely rising. Unlike superheroes, who were rare and often idolized, mutants were an entire species that was growing in number.

To the average person, that was terrifying.

The fear of living among super-powered individuals with no way to protect yourself? Completely understandable.

Unfortunately, extremists like Magneto and anti-mutant organizations only made things worse. The X-Men had kept things stable for now, but it was a delicate balance that could tip at any moment.

Kurt knew this reality all too well. It was why he often hid his appearance in public.

"Good battle!" Naruto grinned. "I'm impressed by such skill, especially without a teacher. Just subarashii!"

Peter let out a small laugh, shaking his head. "Thanks for the help, guys. Hope my friends didn't give you too much trouble?"

Naruto shrugged. "Haven't met them yet, but I'll be visiting today. Wanna come along?"

Peter stretched his arms. "Nah, got stuff to do. Night, you hanging with him?"

Kurt nodded. "Yeah… you might not believe this, but he's my teacher now."

Peter froze, blinking.

"No way, bro. How did that happen?"

Kurt chuckled. "He beat the crap out of everyone at the school."

Peter laughed. "That does sound like an awesome introduction. Wish I had time to hear it, but toodles for now!"

With that, he shot out a web and swung away, disappearing into the skyline.

Naruto watched him go, shaking his head. "Good guy, but suffers from a lack of focus."

Kurt tilted his head. "Really?"

Naruto smirked. "Yeah. He acts hyperactive all the time, but sometimes you just need outside help to see the path. I'll check in on him later. I like his fighting style."

Kurt chuckled. "So… back to the date?"

Naruto grinned. "Absolutely."

With a flicker of golden energy, they teleported back to where Amanda was waiting.
