Chapter 180 - Meeting the Newton's - Part 1: Hidden Motives

"Psst! Kid, what are you in here for, as you seem too young to have already committed genocide?" Zinc said curiously as he tapped Rin's shoulder before trying to lick his ear to see how far he could take it before the kid snapped.

"None of your business," Rin replied with disgust as he side-eyed the old freak behind him, who had more issues than a politician as he tilted his head to the side and evaded the old freak's probing attack.

"Aww! Look at the newcomer trying to act tough and avoid the inevitable," Zinc giggled as he kept on poking the bear, who was progressively getting madder as time passed.

Even though Rin did nothing to stop it and just kept trying to head to the cafeteria to get something to eat while dodging Zinc's attack like a slippery lizard with minimal movements.

'Sigh, am I just a walking magnet for trouble wherever I go?' Rin lamented as they slowly made their way to the cafeteria, which was located between floors M and N.

"Zinc, what exactly are you hoping to achieve by provoking a ticking time bomb—one whose fury you won't be able to withstand once it goes off?"

Bob wondered as he started to notice how the guards were acting, even though they did nothing to separate the two, and the behavior of the other prisoners, who all simultaneously took a step back from Zinc and Rin.

Giving the floor to them once they entered the cafeteria, as all the prisoners already sitting stood up and began to move the tables and chairs to the walls of the cafeteria. To make enough space for Rin and Zinc to duke it out as the guards stood silently and just watched everything occur calmly.

"Just what is going on?" Bob pondered as he tried to make sense of the situation; however, before he could ask one of the guards what was happening.

An inmate with an eyepatch and a scar that stretched from his face down his neck suddenly stopped him and told him to keep quiet as he placed a finger to his mouth.

Before dragging him toward the large circle being formed, which encased Rin and Zinc, wherein some prisoners could be seen whispering to each other quietly. While others watched with amusement and curiosity in their gazes, as it wasn't every day you got front-row seats to a live show before it was canceled.

"I know you have questions, but for now, keep quiet and watch as everything unfolds." The inmate said as Bob glanced at everything occurring around him and just shook his head in disbelief.

"Sigh, why do I feel like someone is behind all this?" Bob muttered tiredly as he gave up trying to make sense of this whole operation.

'Because someone is... now shut up and watch the damn show!' A voice like thunder said within his mind as Bob froze in shock, before instantly straightening up and focusing upon Zinc and Rin.

"Hey, Zinc, did you ever think to consider why no one has come to stop you from egging on the new inmate? But instead, they all gave space for us to fight like animals in a coliseum after a game of cat and mouse," Rin asked with a smile as he abruptly stopped and faced Zinc, who was about to bite his ear off in frustration.

However, before that could happen, Rin suddenly clenched his fist and threw a punch into Zinc's stomach.

Swoosh. Crack. Thud.

"Huh, what do you-" Zinc tried to say before he suddenly fell to the ground while vomiting blood that contained pieces of his internal organs as he held his stomach in pain.

After surviving what felt like a speeding truck slamming into his body, which led to him suffering from three broken ribs, minor fractures, internal bleeding, and partial damage to his vital organs.

All due to a moment of negligence…

"Oh, and it seems you're stronger than expected, Zinc. What a surprise!" Rin exclaimed with shock before sighing as he shook his head. "It seems I have gotten weaker since attending school."

He muttered while the guards and inmates just stayed silent and watched as their acquaintance was about to die from barking at the wrong tree.

"Tsk, it was nothing but a cheap shot, brat," Zinc hollered as he stood up like a drunken fool and wobbled from side to side like a ship at sea.

"Oh, well then, since it was a cheap shot, you wouldn't mind if I did it again, would you, Zinc? Or should I ease my hand and allow you to regain some dignity… since this brat nearly placed you in an early grave?" Rin asked sarcastically with a grin as he chuckled menacingly.

"Ptui. Sure, but only if you are willing to make the warden the overseer of our fight to the death. Where both parties can use whatever to win, and there aren't restrictions on our abilities or the usage of weapons." Zinc smirked as he looked up and gave a nod to the figure looking down from his office at the commotion going on in his prison.

Clap. Clap. Clap.

"Splendid, what a way to drag an old timer into a landmine of trouble, cousin," The Warden of Obsidian Vault sighed after applauding his troublemaker of a cousin for his chess move as appeared between Zinc and Rin.

Considering that with him now being pulled into this charade, the Kurama Family could not find fault with him or the school if Rin unexpectedly died, since he wasn't only the son of the World Spirit, but also a Quasi-King cultivator.

Granting him both the power and authority to do whatever he likes, if it does not lead to the destruction of Earth.

"I had to, cousin, he nearly killed me, and it didn't seem like you were going to step in, unless I said something. Sorry, but not sorry, as I'm sure your father and you would love to gain more information on the Kurama Family and Rin's power."

"Fair point, but still tell me ahead of schedule next time, as I could've moved some things around to make this more interesting," The Warden said before scrutinizing Rin, 'Hmm, strange... no destiny nor fate yet loved by the maidens of Supremacy. Honestly, just what are you, Rin Jasper Kurama, that my father would take such interest in you?'

"Welp, it seems only time will tell," The Warden muttered to himself as he scrutinized Rin before winking at him and disappearing as he left a sentence behind. "Good luck, kid, as you'll need it tomorrow."
