Chapter 132 - Grocery Shopping

"It's still early so we can go to the farmer's market on 82nd street, that's the one mother likes," Jian said as she put on her shoes, he nodded asking, "Then let's take a car, it's a little far to carry everything back, by the way, what time does it open?"

"At 9, so we'll make it on time and get first picks too," Jian said, and he nodded, taking the car keys before opening the doors for her.

"Jian, do you want to grab some breakfast on the way?" John asked, and she glanced at the map on her phone, saying, "There's a small cafe near the market. We can also grab some sushi from this place for lunch. That way, we can focus on cleaning the apartment in the afternoon."

"Alright, so what plans do you have for tomorrow?" He asked as the elevator stopped in the garage before heading towards the car. "Well, I don't have anything planned. Why?"

"Well, you need to get some fabric samples for Revin, right? Also, I was wondering if you wanted to visit Adrien again tomorrow?" John asked, holding the door open for her, and she waited for him to get in before saying, "Sure, that sounds lovely. I can select some fabric for Selena to look at as well."

He nodded as the two continued their conversations, planning what to purchase and what to have for breakfast as they soon arrived at their location. Jian smiled, getting up as John walked a few steps ahead towards the door. "I can pop by the office on Wednesday to show Selena the materials, but I am pretty sure she won't be there till the evening," she said, throwing away her cup.

"Then you can spend the day with me, my lady," John said in a teasing manner as he held the doors open for Jian. She took his hand, saying, "That sounds lovely." He nods as they hold hands, walking down the street towards the now-open stalls.

"Johnny," Jian said as she picked up a basket of fruits, and he nodded, selecting some corn, asking, "Can we have roasted corn?" Jian nods, saying, "We might need to get some foil."

He nods as they continue to pick up a few more seasonal veggies before heading towards a fish stall. "When were these caught?" Jian asked as she glanced at the one labeled cod. John watched as the person glanced at her before saying, "This morning, we have cleaned ones as well."

Jian smiled, saying, "No, it's alright, I'll take a whole fish and a half pound of shrimp." The clerk turned away, and John glanced at Jian, asking, "You know how to prep fish?" She nods, "Mother and I used to go fishing when we lived in Georgia."

He nods, saying, "Well then, you were a country girl, huh?" Jian sighed as John took the bags from the clerk. "Not really, just a lake nearby, we only went during the summer when she missed Father." He paused reading her expression soften and she smiled, saying, "Come now, let's get some steak too, we can marinade it for tomorrow."

John follows after her, holding onto her hand, a silent comfort as they walk the street before picking up a few things from the grocery store.

She taught John what to do, how to cut the veggies, and she worked on the fish. The two finished cooking a meal in time for an early dinner. John cleaned up after they ate as Jian got more meals ready to be cooked the following days. Their afternoon was peaceful as they shared a day of housework, and Jian left in the late evening. Of course, he dropped her off and stayed for a few minutes.
