Chapter 5 - Understanding of profound energy

Within the scarlet dragon mountain range, meters into the forest and just within close proximity of the waterfall that seemed to fall from the heavens themselves, stood a boy no older than 12 years old. Surprisingly however, the youth was not alone, for the presence of the viridian wolves with palpable killing intent surrounded him and left no room for escape.

"Alright chief, what now" azazel appeared calm from the outside, yet the twitching of his brow and the involuntary shivering of his hands spoke volume as to what exactly he was feeling. He was, after all, a human being who was teleported from earth not long ago, there was no way in hell he could adapt to the fighting tendencies of this realm in such a small time frame.

" there is no need to worry. You being at the nascent realm first level should save you from instant death. The wolves are merely combatants of the elementary realm, buckle up and use your brain".

The young boy gulped in acknowledgement, his body taking on a defensive position as he tried to steel his heart and brain into entering a battle-like phase.

The wolves growled in understanding, seemingly smelling the fear emanating from the youth. They particularly could not pinpoint his profound level, that coupled with the founded fear oozing in waves from the opponent, they attributed the boy in front of them to a foolish human milling about under the glaring sun in purposelessness, a cripple who stumbled into this forest accidently, more fresh meat for them.

The wolf on the left bent its knees in clear signs of gathering momentum for a charge attack, its red eyes glowing a deeper shade of red as it pushed off the ground in a manner resembling a raging, unleashed canon.

Azazel watched wide eyed at the charging wolf and its puncturing fangs, the thought of defending completely echoped his subconscious, for his body muscles acted on their own and shielded his face with his hands, resembling a scaredy cat or a cowering fighter who was weak beyond understanding.

Fortunately, as if it was the work of god, there was a circulation of energy occurring within his meridians that allowed for the conjuration of profound energy, thus blocking the incoming attack from the wolf yet still sending him flying backwards.

The boy made a pitiful arc across the skies as his body heavily crashed on a nearby tree, shattering it completely and stopping his momentum.

The congregation of dust dispersing into the void revealed the faint outline of azazel's body painfully coughing up dust, his hazy eyes trying to analyze his surroundings once more.

"What do you think of my first try, chief" the boy sarcastely spoke while simultaneously hoisting his body up from the grass covered floor.

"I have never seen someone so weak in my life" chief coldly spoke while materializing as a small little ball that floated just above ground level.

"They are in the elementary profound level, yet here you are getting sent flying like a loosely tied kite. Try circulating your profound energy and conjure it into the world, it will serve as a defensive cloak and as a tool for attack. Keep in mind that the intensity of the energy determines how much force it can resist, and how much damage it can release."

Azazel nodded and took another defensive posture, this time there was a conspicuous, faint aura that surrounded his body like a tight fitting jacket.

Without wasting a single second, he exploded outwards with speed he never expected to reach, for his body appeared almost instantly within the circle created by the wolves.

"Now release it!"

The profound energy surrounding his contours intensified with each passing nano second, taking on a beautiful hue of scarlet as it exploded outwards in the form of a luminous torrent of color that sent the wolves concentrated around him into the skies, leaving along their pathway to oblivion a faint blood trail. They could not be pronounced any more dead.

"Well that was surprisingly simple" spoke azazel who was pridefully stretching his muscles, the pain experienced from the earlier bout diminishing a tad bit.

"These enemies were extremely weak, there is no need to feel accomplished over the execution of simple energy control" as always, chief was the one to pour a bottle of cold water on him, not that he minded it one bit. He was perfectly aware that this battle was won as a result of the disparity between their profound level, if they were on the same level, the wolves could have quite easily blocked off the pushing force of the energy and continued on with their assault, leaving him all the more vulnerable.

Azazel extended his hand outwards and eerily glanced at his palm, his confusion all the more apparent.

"Chief, so you're telling me that profound energy can materialize outwards and take on a specific shape?"

"That is indeed the case. The people of this world seemed not to realize it simply because there are elements to make up for that. However, you inherently lack elements, the profound energy is a substitution for that. Energy is a malleable substance, you can use it to make constructs such as spears, arrows, and things of the sort."

"I see, that makes sense. however what about my needles, when Will I be able to summon them?'

There was a brief silence before Chief indifferently spoke once more

"You are naturally not ready to use the needles of catastrophe, one needs to condone a certain mastery of profound energy in order to even attempt in summoning needles. Trust me on this one, I dare say with confidence that if you reach a high level of mastery with profound energy, no one will be your match. You can use it as a necessary foundation to earn more divine bodies."

Azazel scratched the bottom of his chin, understanding dawning upon him once more. Well, one thing is made official, he had a lot to learn.

His steps were indeed small, but they were in no way ineffective.
