The streets slowly awakened.
Shopkeepers unlocked their doors.
Delivery wagons rolled across the cobbled roads.

The investigation room had transformed overnight.
A large map of London now occupied the centre wall.
Red pins marked every witness statement.
Blue pins marked the movements of the Syndicate convoy.
Yellow pins marked every private clinic and surgeon within a five-mile radius of the attack.
Arthur stood before the map with a piece of chalk in his hand.
He drew a circle around the textile mill.
Then another around Ashford Clinic.
Collins watched quietly.
"You still think the rescuer sought medical help."
Arthur nodded.
"He was losing blood."
"Daisy confirmed it."
He placed another mark on the map.
"Nobody with that wound walks across half of London."
