Chapter 9 - Goodbyes of Love 9

"Master, everything is set."

"Good." The old man nodded approvingly. "Have the invitations been sent to all the cabins?"

"Yes, Master."

"And tomorrow night's dinner preparations?"

"Everything is ready."

"Good." His eyes narrowed thoughtfully. "Make sure everyone follows the plan exactly as instructed. I want constant updates—especially during tonight's dinner."

"Yes, Master."

The old man paused before lowering his voice.

"And the documents?"

The butler immediately understood what he meant.

"Yes, Master. Fortunately, I managed to prepare them beforehand."

A satisfied smile slowly appeared on the old man's face.

"Excellent."

When Alexa and Yeza finally returned to the resort, both of them were exhausted from shopping.

The moment Alexa opened the bedroom door, she froze.

Dozens of luxury shopping bags and designer boxes were neatly arranged around the room.

"Hon!"

She slowly turned around.

"Hon!"

Yeza hurried toward her after hearing the panic in her voice, though deep down he already knew the reason.

"What's wrong?" he asked innocently.

Alexa pointed dramatically at the mountain of boxes.

"What are these?!"

Yeza casually glanced around the room.

"My gifts for you," he answered shamelessly. "And remember the rules."

Alexa opened and closed her mouth speechlessly.

Before she could argue, the butler suddenly appeared at the bedroom entrance.

"Sir, Madam," the butler greeted respectfully. "The resort will be hosting a special dinner tonight for all guests. Your attendance is highly requested."

Alexa immediately turned toward Yeza with sparkling eyes full of excitement.

Yeza instantly understood what that look meant.

He sighed helplessly before nodding.

The butler smiled politely.

"The dinner will begin at seven this evening. You still have two hours to rest."

"Thank you," Alexa replied warmly.

The butler bowed before leaving the cabin.

However, behind his calm expression, his emotions were in complete chaos.

He was nervous.

Excited.

Happy.

Terrified.

Happy because he genuinely liked the woman the old master had chosen for the young master.

Terrified because if the young master discovered the old man's schemes, everyone involved would definitely suffer his wrath.

Back inside the room, Alexa slowly turned toward Yeza again.

This time, she glared at him sharply.

Without saying another word, she walked toward the bed and dropped onto it dramatically.

Then she suddenly sat upright again and leaned against the headboard with her arms crossed.

Yeza, who remained standing nearby, found her behavior unbelievably amusing.

He had already expected this reaction.

Walking toward the bed, he gently lifted her legs onto his lap before massaging her feet carefully.

"I'm sorry," he whispered softly. "Please accept the gifts. Okay?"

Alexa looked down at him quietly.

Then her expression softened slightly.

"No… I should be the one thanking you," she admitted sleepily. "Thank you."

She sighed softly.

"I just… failed to understand your kindness."

Her voice became quieter.

"It's just… those things are too expensive. How can I even wear clothes like that? I'm not used to designer dresses."

She lowered her gaze.

"And honestly… I feel like they'd only look fake on me."

Yeza immediately frowned.

"Hon," he said seriously while continuing to massage her feet, "you would look beautiful wearing anything."

His voice softened naturally.

"You deserve all of this."

Then he looked up at her quietly.

"I may not know who you really are…"

"But during the time we've spent together, I can honestly say you're a genuinely good person."

Alexa didn't answer.

Yeza waited for a response but heard nothing.

When he looked up again, he realized she had already fallen asleep.

A small smile unconsciously formed on his lips.

Carefully, he lowered her legs onto the bed before lying beside her quietly.

Meanwhile, back in Blossom Country…

The ringing doorbell startled Alice, who was busy cooking dinner in the kitchen.

It was already five in the afternoon.

She hurried toward the front door and was surprised to see Alan standing outside holding a fruit basket.

"Good afternoon, Mom," Alan greeted politely. "How are you? Is Alexa here? I came to pick her up."

Alice frowned slightly.

"You don't know where she is?" she asked carefully. "Did you two fight?"

Alan looked confused.

"She's not here?"

"No."

"We didn't fight," he replied quickly.

Alice's expression slowly changed.

"It's been almost a week since she came home," she admitted worriedly. "I thought she was with you, so I didn't worry earlier."

She sighed deeply.

"I was out of the country these past four days. When I came home today, she still wasn't here."

Alan suddenly became uneasy.

"I already sent her plenty of messages," he muttered. "She still hasn't replied."

Then he looked at Alice anxiously.

"Do you know where she went, Mom? I'm getting worried."

Alice shook her head slowly.

"She only told me not to worry and that she's out of the country."

Then she gently smiled.

"Come inside first and have dinner before going home."

Alan hesitated briefly before nodding.

"Maybe you did something wrong," Alice added calmly while preparing dinner. "Don't let misunderstandings drag on too long. Fix things while you still can."

After dinner, Alan finally returned home.

The moment he entered the empty living room, silence greeted him.

For the first time in days, he finally started thinking seriously about why Alexa suddenly left.

The truth was…

The day Alexa discovered his affair and disappeared, Alan had slept through the entire afternoon.

At first, he assumed Alexa had simply gone to spend time with her mother since she had mentioned wanting to visit before.

Without much thought, he packed his things, filed for leave at work, and traveled to Sheena's hometown.

His assigned work area for the week happened to be near her place anyway.

During those days with Sheena, he spoiled her constantly.

They partied every night.

Drank together.

Visited casinos.

Spent money recklessly.

Things he never truly did for Alexa.

He only returned home today because work resumed tomorrow.

Sitting alone in the living room, Alan suddenly frowned deeply.

"What if Alexa found out about Sheena?" he muttered nervously.

Then he immediately shook his head.

"No… impossible."

He leaned back against the couch.

"Then why did she leave?"

A complicated feeling slowly crept into his chest.

"I miss her already."

He rubbed his face tiredly.

"I can't leave Sheena either…" he admitted honestly to himself. "I like being with her."

Then he scoffed quietly.

"If only Alexa acted more like Sheena, things would've been easier."

But after a long silence, he sighed deeply.

"No… I still can't leave Alexa."

Selfishly, greedily…

He wanted both women.

"Well," he muttered shamelessly, "I can still handle the two of them."

He stood up and glanced around the house.

The garden was overgrown.

The vegetables Alexa once cared for had wilted.

The house felt lifeless.

For the first time, he truly noticed how much Alexa had quietly done for him.

Alan scratched his head in frustration.

"I need to clean this place before she comes back."

Then he groaned loudly.

"Damn it, Alexa… what made you leave me?"
