Previously, he and Vulcan worked fully in sync with each other to the point where it was difficult to distinguish their work.
This time, Ves wanted to maintain a greater mental separation from his external incarnation.
This would produce an outcome similar to how Ves had lingered by the Dark Apostle's side during the leadership challenge.
The reason for doing this was because he felt that adopting two different perspectives on the same work would yield greater insights and improvements.
While there was a greater chance for disagreements and coordination problems, Ves believed that this was an acceptable price to pay.
