She was raised to be a weapon.
An Mei Lin had spent her entire life obeying one man, her father. In a world where power ruled and emotions were weaknesses, she learned how to survive by becoming whatever he needed her to be...cold, precise and untouchable.
But behind the control lies a secret she cannot afford to lose.
When she is assigned her most dangerous mission yet, to get close to the elusive and powerful Mu Chen, everything begins to unravel. What was meant to be a calculated move quickly turns into something far more complicated.
Because Mu Chen is not a man who can be deceived.
And worse…
He already knows her.

One where every move is calculated, every choice comes with a price, and the cost of failure is her life… and the only person she’s trying to protect.
In a world where power decides everything…
Who is really the pawn?
[Excerpt]
Do you love me?”
The question came out softer than she intended, almost swallowed by the silence between them.
Mu Chen didn’t answer immediately.
His fingers brushed lightly against her wrist, slow… deliberate… as if reminding her that she was still there, still within reach.
“Say it again,” he murmured.
Her breath trembled.
“…Do you love me?”
This time, his grip tightened.
Not enough to hurt, just enough to make her aware.
“I told you before,” he said quietly, his gaze fixed on her like there was nothing else in the world worth seeing. “You shouldn’t ask questions you already know the answer to.”
Mei Lin tried to pull her hand back but he didn’t let her.
“Then say it,” she insisted, her voice softer now, but stubborn.
For a moment, he just watched her.
Then he lifted her hand slowly, pressing it against his chest.
His heartbeat was steady.
“You feel that?” he asked.
Her fingers curled slightly.
“Yes…”
“That’s yours.”
Her breath caught.
“Mu Chen..."
“You wanted an answer,” he interrupted gently. “This is it.”
His other hand moved to her chin, tilting her face up just enough so she couldn’t look away.
“I don’t just love you, Mei Lin.”
His voice dropped, quieter… deeper.
“I chose you.”
Her heart skipped.
“And once I choose something…” he continued, his thumb brushing softly against her lips, “I don’t let it go.”
Something in her chest tightened.
“Even if I try to leave?” she whispered.
A faint smile touched his lips.
“You can try.”
His forehead lowered slightly, stopping just short of hers.
“But you already know…”
His voice softened, almost like a promise.
“…you won’t get far.”
