Chapter 21 - Sound of the Void

The violet flare that erupted from Kael wasn't just energy; it was a Narrative Displacement. The data from seven powerful entities, sucked into the Seed of a Failed Protagonist, created a localized vacuum where the laws of Aetherion simply ceased to function.

The six surviving participants—the Magus and five other high-tier elites—were thrown backward as if the air itself had turned into a physical wall. Their golden and silver auras flickered like dying lightbulbs.

"What... what are you?" the Magus gasped, his runic rings shattered and his Soul Index plummeting. "You aren't just a Zero. You're a Void."

Kael didn't answer. His skin was translucent, his veins glowing with a bruised purple light. He looked down at his hands, which were slightly pixelating at the fingertips.

The Architect's Correction

High above, the golden mask of the Architect didn't just ripple; it cracked. The System was no longer trying to "correct" Kael. It was trying to Delete him.

A pillar of absolute, blinding white light—the Architect's direct gaze—descended from the sky. It wasn't fire or lightning; it was the literal removal of space-time. Anything it touched didn't burn—it was simply never there to begin with.

"Kael! Move!" Lira screamed from her hiding spot, but Kael was pinned by the Forced Stabilization of the ground.

The Mirror's Choice

Suddenly, a silver blur streaked across the obsidian floor. Seren Vale, the Catalyst favored by the script, lunged not at Kael, but at the ground beneath him.

"You said the script was a lie!" Seren roared, her frozen starlight rapier glowing with a desperate, suicidal brilliance. "If you're the variable, then act like one!"

She drove her blade into the stabilization runes pinning Kael. The silver light of her Fate Favor clashed with the Architect's golden shackles.

The ground shattered. Kael was free just as the pillar of Grand Erasure hit the spot where he had stood a microsecond before. The impact didn't make a sound; it simply left a perfectly circular hole of nothingness in the arena.

The Sound of the Void

Kael grabbed Seren's arm, pulling her back as her silver aura dissolved into grey ash. By saving him, she had lost her rank. Her Soul Index, once a proud 9,800, was now spinning down toward zero.

"Why?" Kael asked, his voice echoing with the screams of the 104,000 points still churning in his chest.

"Because," Seren whispered, her eyes tracking the golden mask in the sky, "I'd rather be a ghost with a choice than a hero with a leash."

Kael looked at the remaining participants and then up at the Architect. He raised the Heart of a Forgotten City, which was now pulsing in sync with the Seed in his chest.

"You wanted a tragedy," Kael said, the violet embers in his eyes expanding until his entire gaze was a sea of void. "I'll give you one. But it won't be mine."

[ New Objective: Slay the Fragment of the Architect ]

Soul Index Status Update:

Kael Veyron: Hollow (Index 0) – Channeling 104k Stolen Points.

Seren Vale: Fallen Catalyst (Index 140) – Status: Rogue.

The Architect: Fragment (Sovereign Level) – Incensed.

Expert Guide Rule 2: Should Kael use the 104,000 stolen points to temporarily manifest a "Fake" Sovereign Rank to fight the Architect directly, or should he use the energy to permanently "Delete" the other participants and fuel his evolution to Stage 2?
