# Chapter 40. Unhealing Wound
Jinju gazed at the child and then back at the man.
The man was crouched down, his large frame looming over the child, and carefully applied some antiseptics and ointment to the wound.
He blew gently on it to ease the pain before deftly bandaging up the wound.
Despite the child's initial discomfort, they soon broke into a smile.
"It'll be all better in a few days. Just be more careful from now on, okay?"
The man patted the child's head and grinned.
The child nodded and scampered off.
"Hey, slow down! I just told you to be careful!"
The man called after the child, who giggled in reply and continued to run.
It was a carefree sound as if the injury had never even happened.
Jinju felt a pang of envy at the sound which seemed to float through the garden.
‘Will my stingy, painful wound ever heal? Even if it doesn't, can I still smile like that child?’
Jinju slowly shook her head.
She didn't intend to do that, anyway.
