It was clear now that Malum was long gone. And as a consequence,
Tatu was now furious at Ungar. "Damnit you let him escape!" said Tatu. "I CAN'T
BELIEVE IT! I was so close to killing that monster!" said Ungar. When Ungar hit
the ground, he exploded with anger. "I CAN'T BELIEVE I LET THAT CRETAN
GET AWAY FROM ME!!!!! I SHOULD HAVE KILLED HIM WHEN I HAD THE
CHANCE!!!!!!!" said Ungar. The ground around him began to crack and Ungar by
himself was causing a giant earthquake it seemed as if the whole planet was
trembling. "He's out of control! Someone needs to stop him!" said Tatu. As he said
this Luna slapped Ungar. "You need to stop this destroying everything around you
won't solve anything you'll have to keep a level head and stop acting like such an
idiot!!!" said Ungar. "Luna are you out of your mind???!!!! I'm sorry Wizard please forgive the girl she didn't mean to..." said Tatu. "It's fine, She's right." Said
Ungar.
Everyone was shocked at how fast Ungar had calmed down. Ungar walked
over to Luna who was crying she was scared that Ungar would punish her even
though Tatu had actually never beaten her before she had the feeling that Ungar
might. Instead Ungar simply put his hand on her shoulder. "I'm sorry Luna. Please
forgive me. I promise it won't happen again." Said Ungar. "And I'm sorry too. I
shouldn't have called you an idiot." Said Luna. "You shouldn't apologize kid you
did nothing wrong. Don't worry about it. This is all on me." Said Ungar. "I
appreciate the sentiment Ungar but I have to ask what the hell just happened, what
drove you to such blind anger?" said Mencius. Ungar slowly turned around and
then slumped his head slightly. "That Reptilian Monster Malum was back and I
almost kid him. If I had done so we wouldn't have to worry about him killing
Daniel anymore but I got distracted. And now because of me he got away. I can't
believe it I almost had it this time and if you don't believe me ask Tatu he saw
everything." Said Ungar. "It's true. The Wizard was making beating the life out of
that creature look easy." Said Tatu. "So, what do we do now?" said Oliver.
"Simple we head back to Merlin and discuss our options and find out why that
creature felt the need to kill that Ninja once he failed." Said Ungar. "Sounds good,
come on everybody let's all head back to Merlin's." said Mencius. Everyone began
to leave except Ungar and Tatu. "You guys coming!" said Daniel.
"I can't speak for Tatu but I just need a minute. I'll be with you all shortly." Said Ungar. "Alright see
you soon big guy." Said Daniel. After they all left Tatu spoke. "Thanks for letting
Luna down easy, Ungar. I normally don't say this to anyone but I really appreciate
what you did." Said Tatu. "Don't mention it. And besides I was in the wrong...
Listen I know that you could give a damn about what I have to say but still I have
to say it. For what it's worth you did a good job raising that kid Tatu. Never
expected you to be a father-figure at all." Said Ungar. "Tch..." said Tatu. Tatu took
off. Just as Ungar left for Merlin's he had some final thoughts; "I can't believe I
flew of the handle like that. I can't allow myself to do that again. That being said I
need to kill Malum the next chance I get there's no room for error now that I know
how nimble that little rat is." Thought Ungar. After this Ungar took off to Merlin's
house.
Soon they all arrived. And discovered that the Ninja had been healed by
Merlin and had just woken up. "So, what's the deal why did Malum want you
dead?! And who do you work for?!" said Ungar. "I don't know why that creature
wanted me dead but I also can't tell you who I work for." Said Zengi. "Let me
guess Vladimir Kosovich." Said Merlin. The look on Zengi's face told them
everything. "Let me tell you something boy your old master wants you dead so if
you want to live you better side with us." Said Merlin. "That doesn't make any
sense why would he hire me in the first place if he wanted to kill me?!" said Zengi.
"Wait so he's right. It was Vladimir Kosovich." Said Oliver. "Yes of course. And
for your question Zengi at first I didn't realize it either but now I'm sure I know
what his motives are." Said Merlin. "What are you talking about old man?" said
Zengi. "Well, what did Vladimir say he was hiring you for?!" said Merlin. "He
said he wanted me to kill an Elf boy named Daniel because he was the only thing
stopping him from retrieving an ancient relic called the Book of the Dead." Said
Zengi. "Yes. And do you what this Book of the Dead is?!" said Merlin.
"...Honestly I have no idea. I never asked him I've done jobs for countless people
over the years. I never answer questions. I just deliver results." Said Zengi.
"Well let me illuminate you than. The Book of the Dead is a book containing
untold evils. It makes false promises to save mortal life and to end war, famine and
all other forms of suf ering but it really seeks to carry out the opposite. It wants to
destroy all mortal life in the Cosmos and destroy all that is good and pure. Because
of this besides a few delusional individuals who believe they can do good for the
world by obtaining the book the vast majority of those seeking the evil book are
Evil Monsters and Demon and therefore Vladimir has reluctantly made a deal with
the devil temporarily allying himself with Demons for a greater good and the
chance to save all of mankind from itself. Most people would fight against him
once they knew his true motives and who he was working so he had a plan. He
wanted to rely as little on the Demons as possible so he initially hired a mortal in your case a Human to kill Daniel but if you failed, he realized he would have to
work with the Demons."
Said Merlin. "How could you possibly know this?!" said
Zengi. "Because sadly enough I've seen it a thousand times before and will likely
see it a thousand times again people making naïve deals with Demons. You can't
reason with Evil either in the literal or the figurative sense. If you do that it will
eventually just end up leading to your downfall." Said Merlin. "..." said Zengi.
"You know that I'm right. And besides with the exception of Tatu who foolishly
almost killed you before we could get any concrete answers none of us have tried to
kill you." Said Merlin. Zengi sat there for a moment and then stood up. "I think I
believe you. And if what you're saying is true this guy needs to be stopped. If I
knew that at the time, I would have stopped him myself. Let me introduce my name
is Zengi I'm a descendant of a long line of Ninjas and Assassins from Japan and
I'm obviously part of the Earthling Diaspora on this planet. I look forward to
working with all of you." Said Zengi. As he said this he bowed. "My name's
Mencius Zengi I'm an Elf Warrior and the Master of the White Lotus Guild; we're
glad to have you on board." Said Mencius. "Hello my name's Ungar I'm a
Warlock and an old friend of Merlin and Mencius here. It's nice to meet you,
Zengi." Said Ungar. "My name's Athena and I'm a Light Elf. Nice to meet you
Zengi." Said Athena. "My names Luna and I'm a Water Elf. Pleased to meet you."
Said Luna. "We've already met but my time is Tatu the last of the Wasp People and
the future ruler of this Universe. If you want, I'll spare you once this Great Evil is
destroyed and you can join my army to conquer the world." Said Tatu. "Thanks,
but I'll pass." Said Zengi. "You don't want to help Lord Tatu?" said Luna. "No but
I have to say you're fighting skills were incredible I'd love to spar with you again
sometime." Said Zengi. "Fair enough. Welcome to the team I guess." Said Tatu.
After a short pause Daniel walked forward and spoke to the Ninja directly. "Hello
my name's Daniel. I'm a Light Elf and I'm the one you were ordered to kill." Said
Daniel. "I'm sorry kid. I've killed a lot of people in my time but I never talked to
one of those who was supposed to be a target. Believe it or not I have need to kill
you anymore. Even if I still wanted to I can't now it make it all too personal when I
talk to you face to face. I'm sorry about what I tried to do to you Daniel." Said
Zengi. Zengi bowed and began to shake in fear expecting for Daniel to strike him.
After a short awkward pause Daniel spoke. "Don't worry Zengi I forgive you."
Said Daniel. "You forgive me????!!!!" said Zengi. "It's all water under the bridge.
Just remember that we're friends and comrades-in-arms now and that's all that
matters." Said Daniel. Daniel held out his hand. "Friends?" said Daniel. After a
long pause Zengi shook Daniel's hand. "Friends." Said Zengi. "Now that that's all
out of the way we have much to discuss so everyone sit down you have long quest
to retrieve the Book of the Dead from the clutches of Vladimir Kosovich and his
Demonic allies." Said Merlin.
In a dark cave somewhere, an evil demon was alerted to Malum's failure to
kill the Gate Keeper he told one of his demons to inform Malum that he failed him
again he would kill him. That creature was the new commander of the Demonic
Army, Lord Vargos; the Shape-Shifter.
