Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: The Weaponsmith

The doors of the Main Vault finally trembled.

The massive crystal gates, each half a meter thick, slowly began to part with a low, vibrating groan, as if reality itself was reluctantly giving way. Beyond the opening, the pulsing glow of Omni-Energy was already visible, dense and almost alive, like the heart of an enraged god.

"Got it!" Kai shouted, raising his fist. His mechanical eye burned with blue triumph. "I broke through the outer layer! But there's still an Alpha-class defense field inside… I need at least thirty seconds to reboot the protocol, or the shield will vaporize us!"

He never finished the sentence.

Without taking her eyes off the gallery behind them, where the remains of the Silver Guards still smoked, Lyra suddenly hurled a heavy bundle toward him. It spun through the air and slammed into Kai's arms with a dull metallic thud. She had carried that thing all the way from the Night Market in the Sleeping Sector, through every anomaly, through the maglev battle, through betrayal itself.

And now its moment had come.

"Enough digging through code!" she barked, reloading the Vortex-M on the move. "Use the gift from Chapter 16! The one you built from your own blueprints while we were hiding in Echo-6. Come on, genius!"

Kai ripped away the thick cloth in one motion.

Inside was not just a sword.

It was the System Breaker.

A blade forged from his own designs during those endless nights when his neural implants nearly burned his brain alive. The meter-long edge consisted of thousands of microscopic vibro-needles fused into a single structure. Every needle could vibrate at a frequency capable of breaking physical locks at the molecular level, slicing not merely metal, but the quantum lattice itself. The hilt was warm, perfectly fitted to the hand, with a built-in neuro-connector that now pulsed greedily as it sensed Astra nearby.

"Astra, catch!"

Kai threw the sword to her without hesitation.

She caught the hilt midair.

The moment her fingers closed around the warm metal, the blade answered.

The faint violet glow that had barely smoldered in her eyes suddenly surged into the weapon. The sword erupted with pulsing light, deep, living, hungry. Thousands of vibro-needles hummed together in perfect unison, transforming the blade into a single concentrated discharge of entropy.

Now it was no longer merely a weapon.

It was a conduit for Thanatos's will.

Astra felt the entity inside her reach toward the blade like an old friend.

"At last… a real weapon," Thanatos whispered directly into her mind, his voice overflowing with dark delight. "No hacker toys. No bullets. A key with which we open their precious Paradise."

She did not hesitate.

Astra stepped forward, straight toward the threshold of the Vault, where the Alpha defense field was already forming, a translucent wall woven from countless streams of energy, powerful enough to erase anyone who touched it without authorization. The air around it shimmered like heat over burning asphalt.

She drove the System Breaker into the Vault floor, directly into the center of the energy node.

A deafening groan erupted from the metal.

Not merely a sound.

A scream.

As if the structure of the spire itself had felt pain.

The sword's vibro-needles pierced the composite floor, and thousands of microscopic vibrations rippled through the entire system. Omni-Tek's defense field flared brighter, trying to resist, but a moment later it began to crack apart. Fractures spread across the energy wall like cracks racing through glass. The strands snapped one after another, hissing and sparking. Astra's violet energy poured into the ruptures, devouring the code, devouring the defenses, devouring the very concept of inviolability.

The field shattered with a loud, crystalline snap.

The entire Vault trembled.

The light inside the spire intensified, its pulse accelerating like a heart that had suddenly realized it was about to be torn out.

Lyra exhaled slowly, lowering her rifle.

"Damn… it actually works. Kai, you're a genius."

Kai only smirked, wiping sweat from his forehead.

"Not me. Us. This blade belongs to all of us." He nodded toward the now-open passage. "Now let's take what we came for."

Astra pulled the sword free from the floor. The blade still pulsed, coated in a thin layer of violet energy. She turned toward her friends.

There was no doubt left in her eyes anymore.

Only resolve.

And the faint predatory glimmer of Thanatos.

"The barrier is dead," she said quietly, yet her voice echoed through the entire gallery. "We are no longer guests."

She raised the glowing blade.

"We are the owners now."

Behind them, the sirens still screamed, though already far away. The Silver Guards lay motionless, empty heaps of armor. And ahead, in the heart of the crystal spire, pure Omni-Energy awaited them, an ocean of power capable of feeding Thanatos beyond measure.

And transforming Astra into what she was always meant to become.

The Weaponsmith had done his part.

Now it was the goddess's turn.
