Baron woke up slowly, in a dark room, seemingly alone. He sat up, carefully but steadily, grimacing in pain as he held his stomach. Fresh bandages covered his torso, recently applied; someone had clearly taken care of him not long ago.
What he could not understand was why he had been saved. His instincts had screamed it to him before the impact: Phaistos had fully intended to kill him with that strike. Even if he had not died on the spot, he should have been condemned anyway. None of it made sense to him at that moment.
Baron eventually stood up, painfully, and made his way toward what he assumed was a light switch. He groped along the walls in the darkness until his fingers finally found it. When he flipped the switch and the room was revealed, Baron's eyes widened.
