Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: A New Journey

"Hiss~ It hurts..."

The girl rubbed her head, the blurry white scene before her made it hard to distinguish if this was reality or a dream. She fumbled around for a bit, and the cool metal frame of her glasses made her pause. After putting on her glasses, the world finally became clear. The snowflakes fluttering down from the sky made the girl a little dazed. As a typical southerner, and from a less affluent family, she had only seen scenes of heavy snowfall on television.

"Hoo... so cold..."

Coming back to her senses, the girl realized she was only wearing a thin nightgown. The biting cold wind blew past, almost sending her to heaven on the spot.

"Wait, I remember I was rushing a thesis in my dorm! Where did I get sent to?"

As a university student, although her exceptionally high IQ didn't make rushing a thesis a problem, to earn enough money for a train ticket home, she took on a job three days before the submission deadline to write a thesis for her unlucky roommate. After fighting for three days and three nights, she finally finished the thesis in the last hour before submission.

"Given the current situation... could I have died suddenly and transmigrated?"

It seemed to be the only explanation she could come up with; otherwise, how did she end up here?

Thinking this, the girl leaned against the wall and slowly stood up.

"But... where did I transmigrate to?"

The surrounding houses didn't look like the common houses from her original life; they had a somewhat Western European style.

"Haah... whatever, I'll find a place to hide first, then figure out how to get some clothes. This damn weather is freezing people to death..."

However, after looking around, all the houses had their doors tightly shut, and she couldn't find anyone to ask for help.

"Hoo... Am I going to freeze to death here...?"

She knocked on several doors consecutively but received no response. The girl walked for a while longer, and just as her body was about to freeze stiff, she found a building labeled as an Orphanage.

"They should take me in here, right...?"

The girl, only one meter fifty-two tall, thought to herself. Of course, if it weren't for the two mounds of fat on her chest, almost as big as her head, she might not have to worry at all; she could just act cute and get in.

The door slowly opened, and she was greeted by a kind-looking woman.

"Hello, can I help you?"

"Hoo... Hel... hello, I'd like to come in and get out of the snow, if I may?"

The woman was almost a head taller than her; the girl had to look up to meet the woman's gaze.

"Of course, no problem, please come in."

The woman did not refuse the girl's request. After letting her in, she thoughtfully poured her a cup of hot water.

"Haah... much warmer now, thank you."

By the stove, the girl sipped the hot water from the cup.

"You're welcome, it's just a small matter."

"Mama Ceria, I'm hungry."

"Just a moment, Xilisi, it's not lunchtime yet."

Ceria stroked the little girl's head who had run over, telling her to go play for a bit longer. She turned her head and looked at the girl again.

"Are you in charge of everything here, Ms. Ceria?"

"Yes, The Children are all very obedient and don't require much worrying about."
