Chapter 1 - How It Started

AVA

His hands were roaming my skin, I pleaded, begged him to stop, he didn't listen. He kept thrusting, kicking, punching. The same boy standing in front of me, the boy my best friend, Evelyn was trying to match-make me with. I didn't tell her about it, I only told my warm pillows in the form of tears but still…

"Oh come on Ava, go on one date with Will" She said shaking her son of a bitch's brother's arm. "He's not that bad." Her brother wasn't bad, he was handsome, golden blonde hair, bright blue eyes and a straight jaw. He was dressed in dark grey sweatpants and a quarter zip. I was once attracted to him, about three years ago, so when he told me to come over to his single dorm room by 11pm, I didn't question it. The memories came flooding in. I could still remember where his hands were.

"I'm sorry but I can't Evelyn." Evelyn pouted and turned to her brother who had been scrolling dryly on his phone and spoke again. "But why? You used to have a crush on him!" A pause. "Or do you have a boyfriend?" Boyfriend. I don't have one, I can't bring myself to get close to a man after—

He sliced my arm and rubbed the blood over my skin, he licked it off like an animal and groaned "You're not so bad" he unbuckled his belt. I pleaded, screamed. "Please stop! Please!" My pleas didn't make him stop. He just smiled and—

"Yes! I do" my voice came out a little higher than expected. "Who? turned to her brother "You can leave Will" her brother rolled his eyes and left then she returned her attention to me and pulled on my arm. "So, who is it?" who was it? Thomas? No he's dating Janice, James? No, James doesn't date, Simon? Too nerdy, Gareth? He's way out of my league. "Killian!" I blurted out. "Underground boxing champion, once charged for aggravated assault, loner Killian?!!" Evelyn shrieked. "Yep, that Killian." I laughed awkwardly. "I have to get to…uh…class, bye!" I sprinted out of there before she could ask any more questions. Why Killian?!!!

KILLIAN

A fist slammed into my right jaw, then my lower stomach. The sight of the blood I coughed out satisfied me. I smiled with my blood stained teeth and landed two swift punches to his nape and knee. He fell unconscious and broke his leg. I spat the blood in my mouth unto the ring floor and the referee came to lift up my arm. "Winner! Killian Carson! For the tenth win in a row!" The crowd burst into cheers as I stepped out of the boxing ring. Just as I did, I was swarmed by different guys trying to congratulate me and girls trying to flirt their way into my bed. I didn't have time for them. Humans were like parasites, they existed only to leech of each other. I avoided the idiots and simply disregarded the blonde plastics like garbage.

As I approached the exit of the ring, a hand tapped my left shoulder. I waited for the irritation and anger to take over me: who was this person to touch me? But it didn't, the hand felt cold, stiff and short of life, just like a dead body's. I fixed a stern glare and turned around. The owner of the hand was a female, about 5'3, so really short. My 6'4 frame towered over her. Her dark brown hair was let into wavy curls that let her green eyes pop. She wasn't the type to be here. She was dressed in the first long sleeved yellow sundress I had ever seen with a white flower clip at the front of her hair. Sje looked to innocent to be in a ring like this. "Yes?" I eyed her, making sure she knew not to get too comfortable.

"I…Uh…" She stuttered.

"Look, stop stuttering like an idiot and pray you have a good excuse for touching me with your filthy hands." I said dryly when she couldn't form words. Her face twisted in anger but she covered it up with an all too fake and unpleasant smile. "I'm Ava, we're in the same biochem 301 class, y'know the one with Prof. Cameron." She extended her arm for a handshake. I didn't return it. She pulled her hand back and wiped it on the side of her sun dress. "I have places to be, so…" I started for the door when she pulled me back by the hand. She couldn't move me or make me budge but it took a hell lot of guts to touch me…twice. "Wait!" Her panicked eyes fell into one of solemn desperation. "I need your help" a smirk tugged at my lip. I liked it when people were at my mercy. I tipped up my eyebrow signaling for her to continue. She looked around and when she was sure no one was near the exit, she spoke again "I told my friends that I was dating you." Well, that was a first. "Good for you" I replied dryly

"No you don't understand, they want to go on a double date on Wednesday"

"Tell them I broke up with you."

"What! I can't do that!"

"Why not?"

"None of your business, just please help me. All you have to do is pretend to be my boyfriend for a day and we'll never see again. Promise."

"And what will I get?"

"Anything you want" she pleaded.

My eyes roamed around her body, she had a double D cup, a nice ass and she was curvy, not my usual type but I guess it would do. I moved closer to touch her shoulder but she flinched. I stopped.

"We have a Bio-Chemistry project coming up, and we need partners, since I can't stand human beings, I don't have a partner but you are a bit… tolerable so you'll be my partner." I stated.

"But I'm already partnering with Evie"

"Do you want that date or not?" She pressed her lips together and wiped her hand on her dress again.

"Good, I'll contact you." I left the boxing ring as she called after me "I didn't give you my number yet!" I dismissed her shouts by pulling on my head phones. Don't worry, I'll get it.
