Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Calm among Chaos

The Magic Academy's arena was alive with energy. Today was the final test of the term: a practical exam designed to push students to their limits. Rumor had it that only the strongest would survive unscathed—and some had already whispered about the youngest Xeno, whose calm demeanor and subtle power had been impossible to ignore.

Ken Xeno walked toward the arena with his usual serene smile. Taron and Elyas followed behind, both exhausted and in awe.

"You really don't even flinch, do you?" Elyas muttered.

Ken tilted his head slightly. "Flinching isn't necessary. Observation comes first. Everything else follows."

---

The arena was a vast circular platform, suspended above the ground, with glowing runes etched into the stone. The challenge was simple in concept but deadly in execution: multiple waves of elemental constructs, traps, and dueling opponents—all designed to test adaptability, strategy, and raw magical power.

Kaelen Draven and several upperclassmen were already present, prepared to challenge the students. Kaelen's piercing blue eyes met Ken's.

"You're here," Kaelen said, a mixture of curiosity and challenge in his tone. "I was hoping for a real fight."

Ken's permanent smile never wavered. "I'm ready," he replied softly, though inside, his system was analyzing every opponent, every wave, every possible outcome.

---

The first wave of elemental constructs surged forward—fire, ice, wind, and earth attacks weaving through the arena. Most students panicked, their spells misfiring or being overpowered.

Ken walked calmly forward. Black mana shimmered faintly around his hands as he subtly manipulated the battlefield. Platforms shifted imperceptibly, attacks slowed just enough to be dodged effortlessly, and elemental constructs collapsed in perfectly controlled ways.

It looked effortless. To any observer, it seemed like unmatched skill—but in truth, Ken's "Overwrite" ability controlled every detail without revealing its true extent.

Kaelen's eyes widened mid-attack. "Impossible… he's everywhere… and calm!"

The other students stopped, staring as Ken casually navigated every trap and attack. Even the instructors murmured in surprise, realizing the youngest Xeno wasn't just talented—he was untouchable without even trying.

---

By the final wave, Ken had neutralized every construct, every hazard, and every challenge, all without appearing to fight seriously. He lowered his hands, letting the battlefield settle perfectly. Not a single student was harmed, yet everyone understood who had dominated the arena.

Kaelen approached, frustration and awe mixing in his expression. "I… I don't know what you are," he said. "Calm, polite, untouchable… you're unlike anyone I've faced."

Ken tilted his head politely, smiling softly. "Thank you. Observation first, strength second. That's enough."

Kaelen nodded slowly, silently acknowledging Ken's superiority.

---

Back in the dormitory, Taron and Elyas stared at him in disbelief. "You… you didn't even break a sweat!" Taron exclaimed.

Ken smiled calmly. "Strength is only impressive if you understand when to use it. Observation and patience matter more than rushing into action."

He gazed out the window at the Academy grounds, golden in the sunset, students still whispering about his unmatched performance. Somewhere in the back of his mind, the faint echo of the novel lingered: "I will come back again."

Ken didn't understand it yet—and he didn't care.

This world is full of challenges, he thought quietly, his calm smile unwavering. And I will face them all… with a smile.

---

The academy buzzed with excitement, rivals acknowledged him, allies respected him, and Ken Xeno, youngest of the Xeno family, had quietly cemented his presence.

He was calm. He was smiling. And this was only the beginning.

The story is mine to observe.
