Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Power of Fingers

NOT HUMAN ANYMORE — English Translation

"I'm going to kill you… I'm going to wipe you from this world… You filthy bastard…", thought a young boy on a breezy moment when the weather was neither too hot nor too cold. His face made it clear that the rage inside him was beyond anything that could be contained, on the verge of exploding. As these thoughts passed through his mind, he stared at a couple standing right in front of him, happily playing around…

His focus was on the man. A few seconds later, the boy's furious eyes met the man's blissful ones. The man's expression shifted instantly at the moment their eyes collided, as if he had suddenly realized something…

This was a school—a garden full of pretty plants, some students playing ball, some walking and chatting.

2 HOURS LATER

With the ringing bell, the students excitedly moved toward the exit gate. Some were quiet, some happy, most of them excited… The furious boy with grayish hair fluttering in the breeze walked toward the gate with heavy steps. Thoughts of murder still lingered in his mind.

He slowly exited the school, then walked for about ten minutes down an empty road before entering a single‑story, middle‑aged-looking house—most likely his home. He tossed his bag aside and went straight into his room. Something written on his wall caught his eye, and after staring at it for a few seconds, the thought crossed his mind:

It's been 100 days, teacher… Sometimes I really do miss you…

He quickly lay down on his bed, placing his arms behind his head, staring up at the ceiling—white, but with a few stains. He just stared… After a few minutes, he drifted into the past…

THE SAME SCHOOL, A WINTER DAY

"Heeey, Nox! A new café opened in the city center. I heard they came up with their own unique coffee aroma… Shall we go?"

It was a soft, delicate voice—an excited yet cheerful girl. The boy named Nox, the same furious boy, replied, "Sure, let's go." Then thought to himself, I hope I have enough money…

They put on jackets over their thick winter clothes and set off.

A few minutes later, whispers began echoing in Nox's ears:

"Don't fool yourself. Lilliane is mine."

followed by a nasty laugh.

The whisper repeated once or twice, and the furious boy lying on his bed suddenly burst awake, anger erupting inside him.

IN A LUXURY CAFÉ, A GIRL AND A BOY

"Hey Lilly, want me to walk you home?" asked a graceful male voice.

The beautiful, pale-skinned girl replied, "I can go by myself. Thanks for today, Akuon."

Lilly began walking home. The moment she turned her back, Akuon's face twisted into something entirely different. He smirked with a sly expression and thought, Damn Nox… You're going to kill me, aren't you?

Akuon began walking nervously, clearly searching for a way to survive. After about twenty minutes, he reached a grand mansion with "Maximus Manor" written on the gate.

He hurried to the door and asked the guards where his father was. They said his father was in a meeting and wouldn't return until the next day.

Akuon entered, rushed up the stairs, and into a large room. He began muttering to himself:

"My father never pays attention to the sword and shield in this room… Or should I just ask the guards to protect me? DAMN IT, NOX… My head is a mess!"

Akuon was furious, desperately searching for a way to protect himself. As he paced around the room, his foot hit something—a thick book.

On the cover was something eerily fitting:

"Mighty Fingers 1: How to Attain Power?"

A coincidence? Perhaps. But who cared?

Akuon picked up the book excitedly and began studying it. In just a few hours—fueled by panic and adrenaline—he read every word.

By the time he finished the last page, it was almost midnight. He placed the book exactly where he had found it—on the floor—and headed to his room. Before entering, he called over a maid from the corridor. He lay down on his bed.

"Wake me up in ten minutes," he told her.

Inside, he burned with a dark desire:

"I want the power of the Mighty Fingers, even if it strips me of my humanity."

He said to himself and fell asleep… and awoke in a pitch-black world. Only a small table and a few oddly‑faced humans stood there. On the table lay a dagger.

Akuon grabbed the dagger and stabbed the most eager-looking human.

"Shinyubi," he said.

A large deck of playing cards appeared before him, spinning for a few seconds before stopping.

The card that emerged was the Ace of Spades, yet bizarrely, it also had the number 9 printed on it. How could it be both 9 and an Ace?

Moments later, Akuon awoke naturally.

"You may go. I won't need you," he calmly told the maid and dismissed her.

But something was wrong.

Why was Akuon—who had been frantic and overwhelmed before sleeping—now perfectly calm?

What were those cards?

He rose slowly from the bed.

After some time, he spoke to himself again:

"Wait… The book had a number on it… Then what if there's a second one about the rest of the powers?"

Akuon quietly headed downstairs to the basement and entered a small study room.

If there's anything, it would be here. This is my father's room.

After looking around, he indeed found another book:

"Mighty Fingers 2."

He opened it and read. Again, it took hours. By the time he finished, midnight had already passed and dawn was only a few hours away.

Akuon smiled calmly, returned the book to its place, made sure the room looked untouched, and left.

A FEW HOURS BEFORE DAWN, A DESERTED STREET

"This is the last one," said a masked boy with a graceful voice, three corpses behind him.

A long sword in his hand—soaked in blood.

Then he uttered the words:

"Longius ab humanitate abeo…"

and his index finger suddenly lit up.

NOX'S HOUSE, DAWN

Nox slowly rose from his bed, looked at the words written on his wall, and murmured:

"I'm sorry, teacher… I broke one of your rules… I'm no longer human…"
