Chapter 1 - Chapter 0 prologue

I open my eyes, seeing my home world being destroyed "Why did this happen?" Trying to rise from my bed I panicked realizing that I'm Strapped to it"I start to think. My memories were scrambled and I couldn't remember anything...

"!Kara!" Suddenly I hear a woman's voice.

It was an angelic voice, a wonderfully beautiful voice; and she sounded very worried.

"Ugh... Who?" I put a hand to my head when I feel it start hurting badly.

Then I remember my last moments with my mother and father hurrying me home, I saw my fellow Kryptonian's crying losing hope Krypton was crying everywhere.

We

were surrounded by the sound of a world breaking—stone splitting, metal twisting, the deep trembling of a planet that knew it didn't have much time left. The sky itself felt like it was grieving, lit with cracks of red and violet that pulsed like a dying heartbeat.

My mother's hand trembled as she held mine, trying to steady me though her own voice cracked with fear. My father kept glancing back, as if the home he had built, the life he had lived, might somehow pull itself together if he just looked long enough.

But nothing was holding together anymore.

People I had known my whole life—teachers, neighbors, friends—were on their knees in the streets, their faces streaked with ash and tears, praying to a future they knew would never come. Their voices rose, trembling and broken, blending with the roar of collapsing towers and the desperate alarms that screamed through the burning air.

I didn't understand everything then… but I understood enough.

This was the last time I would ever see them alive.

The last time I would feel their hands guiding me.

The last time Krypton would breathe beneath my feet.

I remember the moment my mother finally let go of my hand—slowly, painfully—as if her fingers were carving the memory into my skin. I remember my father's voice cracking as he whispered that he loved me, even though he was trying to sound strong for me, for all of us.

I remember wanting to stay. I remember wanting to run back into their arms.

But they pushed me forward.

And the worst part—the part that still echoes in me—is the way they smiled through their tears, pretending this wasn't goodbye… even though we all knew it was.

Krypton cried, and so did I.

And when the sky finally tore open behind me, I realized that despair has a sound—

the sound of everything you love collapsing in a single breath.

We finally made it home, but instead of slowing down, they hurried me straight to the basement—the one place I was never allowed to set foot. I couldn't understand why, or what waited for me in the shadows below.

Then I saw it—a small vessel, more like a space pod than a ship. And in that moment, the truth hit me: only one person could fit inside. This wasn't our escape… it was mine.

I begged them to let me stay, telling them I would rather face the end together than drift through the stars alone. But they held me close, their voices shaking as they insisted this was the only way. It wasn't just a farewell—it was the last thing we would ever share as a family.

Before I could say another word, the ground trembled violently—and something struck me from behind.

I woke inside the pod, disoriented, just in time to see Krypton erupt in a blinding explosion before my eyes.

Right after, I caught sight of another pod breaking free—my cousin's. He had been beside me only moments before. But before I could get a better look, my pod veered away, pulled into the dark abyss ahead. It wasn't just emptiness… it was a portal.
