Chapter 13 - 13

Before Billy could inform Colin, he was notified of a meeting.

"Quinnan's men have been tailing Frank for a long time. We received intelligence that he's making a big deal tonight, and we must arrest him this time." The action team leader paused, scanned everyone, and continued, "However, there's one issue that needs resolving: Captain Quinnan is under investigation, and his undercover agent only has a single line of contact with him. Who will go see Captain Quinnan and get him to hand over the agent?"

As soon as the action team leader finished speaking, everyone raised their hands.

The leader himself wasn't going to ask for the person, clearly indicating this wasn't an easy task. Couldn't these guys see that? No wonder they could never get the better of Frank.

Speaking out directly would definitely offend people, but to give Billy this opportunity, Su Wei could only speak up.

He let out an untimely chuckle and said, "You all better think this through. The surveillance team has always guarded their informants like treasures. For the sake of this operation, they can be handed over, but if it fails, whoever messes it up will be resented. Especially Deputy Captain Dickman, he's an unreasonable porcupine. Those without the capability shouldn't get involved."

A dozen straight hands had already bent forty-five degrees.

Under the captain's nearly murderous gaze, Su Wei continued leisurely, "Those informants and undercover agents are very cautious; they don't trust anyone besides their handler.

Gaining their trust and coordinating seamlessly in such a short time is a challenge you need to weigh yourselves.

If this operation goes smoothly, then so be it. But if it fails, that person will have to take the blame—a very big blame."

Everyone averted their gazes, and their raised hands fell onto their heads, as if they had collectively contracted scalp dermatitis.

Only Billy's hand remained, isolated.

Billy looked at Su Wei gratefully. What a good friend, so loyal! He offended so many people for him. He'd share his good fortune with him in the future.

"I knew I hadn't misjudged you! You're cut out to be a police officer!" the action team leader said admiringly.

After the meeting, Billy rushed to the Internal Affairs Department.

After repeatedly assuring Captain Quinnan, and even writing a military pledge, he finally obtained the undercover agent's contact information.

As night fell, everyone in the office anxiously awaited the latest news.

"I've already contacted the undercover agent. Frank knows the police have been tracking him. He's currently circling around, and if he can't shake the surveillance, he won't go to the deal location. We should pull back our trackers and leave it to the undercover agent!"

Billy said confidently after reading the text message on his phone.

The action team leader agreed with Billy's suggestion, "Then let's go. We'll wait for the undercover agent's message on the way."

On the city highway, looking at the empty road behind him, Frank, who had received text messages from both Billy and Su Wei, smiled.

Years of planning had finally yielded the current results.

He had two undercover agents in the Special Investigation Team, both more capable than the other.

One left the investigation team leaderless, and the other made the investigation team abandon their pursuit.

Now he could openly drive to the deal.

He reached into his pocket, preparing to light a cigarette, but instead felt a card.

Eighth Pawnshop?

Hadn't he thrown it away last time? What was there that he couldn't obtain? How could he possibly pawn anything?

Just as he was about to throw it away, he noticed this card was different from the previous one.

It was made of pure gold and exquisitely crafted, in a style Frank liked.

Frank touched it, then put the card back in his pocket.

In the back seat, "Sheffield!"

Colin looked straight ahead, but edited a text message and sent the destination.

They quickly arrived at their destination.

This time, they were selling a batch of special explosives and firearms to an international buyer.

It wasn't their first transaction, so it proceeded very smoothly.

After Frank received the payment, he was about to leave when he found his path blocked by police cars.

How did the police know?

"F-u-c-k!"

He quickly told the driver to reverse and had his other subordinates provide covering fire for his retreat!

But the concentrated firepower quickly hit the driver.

The car crashed into the roadside, forcing Frank to get out and run.

"Boss, this way! The police must have gotten a tip-off at the last minute. The terrain here is complex, making it hard to completely surround. As long as there's still a firefight here, we can definitely seize the opportunity to escape."

Colin, holding his gun, loyally protected him.

He even took off his bulletproof vest and gave it to Frank.

"I bought this at a high price. Put it on quickly and follow me. I know the roads here well."

Frank, who had been somewhat hesitant, saw Colin give him the bulletproof vest and patted Colin's shoulder.

"If we get out of this, I'll reward you with anything you want."

After speaking, he followed Colin through the roadside barrier and began to flee.

"Boss, something's not right. How did the police know we were here?" Colin said pointedly as he walked, "I know I shouldn't ask why you were so sure there'd be no police tracking today, but it's hard not to connect the dots. Could it be that the person who gave you the information set you up to harm you?"

Frank's expression changed.

He hadn't had time to think before, but now, it did seem a bit off.

Both of his undercover agents said today was absolutely safe.

If the other party truly had ulterior motives, with their intelligence and meticulous planning, they certainly wouldn't let him off so easily.

Perhaps they were waiting for him up ahead today.

"Billy, if there's an ambush ahead, find a chance to escape. Once you're out, go to my lawyer. I sent several people to infiltrate the police force, and two of them are in the Special Investigation Team. I have phone recordings there. If I get caught today, take the recordings to the FBI. I made a deal with them: I'd trade these two undercover agents for them to save me. If something happens to me, I want you to ruin their reputations and then kill them."

"Alright, I'll make good use of them!"

Colin suddenly pulled out a pistol, aimed it at Frank, and fired quickly.

Bang!

At such a close range, he missed, only hitting Frank's cheek, creating a bloody hole.

Frank took the opportunity to kick Colin, then turned and ducked behind a stack of containers.

"Damn it! I forgot I sold my shooting skills."

"FU...!"

Frank opened his mouth but immediately clutched the bloody hole in his cheek, wincing in pain.

It wasn't just the undercover agents he'd sent to the police who betrayed him; it was also this bastard.

Why? Why did everyone he trusted betray him?

For the first time in decades, Frank fell into despair.

What to do? Was he going to die here?

He was unwilling!

Unwilling to be killed by these bastards.

Frank reached into his pocket, preparing to call the FBI.

Suddenly, he felt a card—it was that pure gold card with "Eighth Pawnshop" written on it.

Fulfills all desires? Could it really?

With that thought, his body had already moved to a different place.

"I want to live. What do I need to pay?"
