Fighting alongside the warriors of the Feathery Plume Society, players reaped the experience points…
but not a single bit of it went to the Natlan locals.
Which was exactly why Liang Chuan kept urging the players to go help.
Every monster the players killed meant he could siphon 99% of their experience.
The "workers" must never stop working.
With the Feathery Plume warriors joining the battlefield, the forest's abyssal beasts were wiped out quickly.
They had already weathered multiple incursions like this one; handling it was second nature.
Even if there were casualties, losses were small.
Only when the full Natlan War erupted—
when all abyssal gates across Natlan opened—
did the death count of Natlan warriors soar into the tens of thousands.
Liang Chuan followed behind the warriors with the five surviving players, shamelessly leeching EXP.
And the result—
All five players hit Level 2.
Each gained 100 EXP…
Which meant Liang Chuan gained 9,900 EXP.
His level rocketed from Lv.3 straight to… Lv.10.
And with that came something unexpected:
A profession change.
He browsed through a huge list of classes, then decisively selected—
[Dragonborn].
Its racial talent, True Dragon Bloodline, granted:
+2 to all four attributes upon leveling
+1 bonus attribute point
Where normal players gained 1 free point per level,
Liang Chuan gained 10 per level.
A full-stat monster.
Of course, such a monstrous class required balance.
Before the bloodline awakened, Dragonborn had no skills.
No spells, no weapon arts—
just pure fist-to-face brawling.
And awakening the bloodline required:
reaching Lv.100
then gathering rare awakening materials
If a normal player chose this class, sure, early game would feel great.
But later, while everyone else slung spells and multi-hit combos…
The poor Dragonborn could only punch things with his bare hands.
Depression guaranteed.
But Liang Chuan wasn't a player.
As the system host, the "main crystal" of this game world,
he could borrow every skill from every player.
He never needed to worry about being skill-less.
With overwhelming attributes + all player professions' talents,
it wouldn't be long before he reached the strength of a "Descender."
"Apologies. We still arrived too late."
The Feathery Plume leader removed his feathered hat, looking at the five neatly arranged player corpses.
His expression carried both respect and guilt.
"If we had split our squads sooner, perhaps this outcome could have been avoided."
"It's fine. They're not really dead. They can revive—as long as they have Bio-Energy."
Beef waved a hand, totally unfazed.
"Revive…? So you know a bit about Natlan's ways."
Mutota sighed.
"But your understanding is far from complete.
Natlan's fallen return through ancient names and revival hymns.
Foreigners…"
He stopped there.
He simply couldn't bring himself to tell these "outsiders" that their friends were, by Natlan logic—
actually dead.
"Bro, are you stupid? Of course NPCs won't get what 'Bio-Energy resurrection' means."
Fire Flame Yan rolled his eyes and shouted:
"Don't waste time—come on, help me move these monster corpses!
This is all free Bio-Energy!"
Beef's eyes immediately lit up.
"A whole forest full of monster bodies—
If we recycle everything, we'll be rich!"
The other three players finally reacted and rushed to help.
Mutota stared, stunned, as the players tossed corpse after corpse into the cylindrical device.
With a flash of white light—
Each corpse evaporated, leaving only empty air.
"What… what is this exactly?"
"This device purifies abyssal corruption.
Disposing of abyssal corpses with it prevents contamination."
Liang Chuan calmly explained.
"There is such a thing?!"
Mutota's eyes widened.
"Whenever we handled abyssal remains before, we feared insulting the land.
But with this device, we no longer need to worry!"
"Everyone! Bring the abyssal corpses over!"
At his command, the Feathery Plume warriors joined the hauling work as well.
The players were instantly unhappy.
These NPCs were stealing their Bio-Energy income!
After some rather heated "negotiation," a compromise was reached:
Feathery Plume warriors would transport the corpses
But only players could operate the device
Liang Chuan watched the whole thing unfold…
and couldn't resist sighing.
As expected of players.
He exploited them,
and they instantly turned around and exploited the NPCs.
Two bosses feeding on each other.
They worked through the entire day.
Bodies were dragged, stacked, vaporized…
until finally, by sundown—
The entire forest had been cleared.
"Finally finished…"
Mutota exhaled deeply.
"You should return to the Feathery Plume settlement with us.
It's far too dangerous here."
"Sorry," Liang Chuan shook his head, "We must guard this purification device."
He wore an apologetic smile.
Of course he could move the Bio-Energy Terminal.
He could dismantle it anytime.
And once it reached Lv.2, he could even build a second one—
a secondary respawn point.
But today's work had earned him 960 Bio-Energy.
Keep 10 for his own resurrection,
and he could summon 95 players.
If he placed the terminal inside the Feathery Plume settlement,
and they watched as the machine spewed people nonstop…
The tribe would absolutely think he was some kind of cult leader.
He'd be arrested before he could even finish explaining.
