Synopsis
Story Synopsis In the distant future where civilization has collapsed and memories can be traded, former Memory Hunter Chen Ke becomes a wanted man after acquiring an irremovable, anomalous memory fragment. Hunted by both the city's "System" and the mysterious organization known as "The Ring," he is forced to venture into the interstellar junkyard called the "Oblivion Graveyard" in search of a signal source codenamed "Cradle." During his journey, he encounters Lia, a young woman searching for her missing father, and the two join forces. They discover that the "Cradle" is actually a "Noah's Ark" left behind by an ancient civilization, containing the seed to reboot the world and immense power. Chen Ke is revealed to be the chosen "Inheritor." Under siege by "The Ring's" armed forces, Chen Ke successfully reaches the core of the "Cradle" and inherits its god-like authority and responsibilities. The first volume concludes with Chen Ke making his choice: he refuses to let the "Cradle" be monopolized by any single faction, deciding instead to personally guard this sprouting seed of civilization amidst the rusted ruins, striving to carve out an uncertain future for humanity under the dual threats of the System's pursuit and The Ring's schemes.

Chapter 1 - Prologue: The Mark of Debt

The scanner's blue light passed over the homeless man's iris. Soul value flickered on the screen: [0.7 units. Recommend Purification.]

As a police officer, I was numb to this procedure. Until I saw the stone in the evidence bag – etched with a burning triangle. The database read: [UNKNOWN.]

In this city, ruled by the "Soul Economy," the unknown itself was the gravest crime.

I returned to my orderly home. My wife offered a nutrient paste, everything perfectly optimized.

Perfect. Stable. As it should be.

Yet, the stone's rough texture lingered on my fingertips.

It was like an ancient mark of debt, a reminder:

All this peaceful stability came with a price tag.

And this city, and I, owed a debt that could never be repaid.
