Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 :The First Wand

Carefully placing the treated Pegasus feather into the wand body Sebastian worked with delicate precision. The feather's fluff began to stretch out little by little expanding gradually. It connected with the ancient rune etched into the inner core wall of the wand in a slow deliberate process.

Once the entire treated Pegasus feather was fully embedded the circuit between the wand core and the wand body was completely connected. Sebastian then inserted the final stopper with care. He sealed the wand body entirely.

After completing this Sebastian took a deep breath. He picked up the black brown wand in his hand and waved it gently through the air.

In an instant he felt his magic flow into the wand as if it were an extension of his own arm and fingers. There was no issue with either the wand body or the wand core as far as he could tell.

"Wingardium Leviosa!"

He uttered the incantation clearly.

His right wrist trembled with controlled movement. The wand shook rapidly in his hand responding to his will. The objects in the room began to float one by one. They revolved around him in a circular pattern as he waved the wand with practiced motions.

However as the magic worked Sebastian's previously joyful expression turned to one of regret and disappointment.

With a slight wave of the wand the floating objects returned to their original positions. They settled back down one by one.

Looking at the wand in his hand Sebastian felt a mix of excitement and regret warring within him. He was thrilled by the wand's success. It was a tool that could offer him some measure of self preservation in this dangerous world. But at the same time he realized it was not suitable for him personally. It barely met the requirements. Though the Pegasus feathers fulfilled the basic needs they were just enough to qualify. Not to be a perfect fit for his magic.

The wand he used in his previous life was thirteen and a half inches long. It was made from the heartwood of an oak tree over a hundred years old. Its core was the heartstring of a dragon. Perfectly suited for dark magic and combat spells that required raw power.

This new wand however was the same length as his old one. But its body was made from the heartwood of a pine tree just a century old. And its core was the feather of a Pegasus from Asgard. The wand's nature was one of life and vitality and healing and holiness. It had a strong affinity for protective magic and healing spells. But it was detrimental to offensive magic and dark magic.

Moreover the quality of this wand left much to be desired in terms of craftsmanship. It was at best barely adequate for his needs.

In simple terms the wand worked and functioned properly. But it was entirely unsuitable for Sebastian's preferred style of magic.

Of course it was still far superior to casting magic bare handed without a wand to channel his power.

This was just the beginning of his journey.

Next Sebastian could study magic properly while thinking about finding new materials for crafting future wands. Better ones that suited him.

While most of the materials from his previous life did not exist in this world there were plenty of things here that were impossible to find in his past life in the wizarding world.

For instance the golden apple tree of Asgard that granted immortality. Odin's ravens Huginn and Muninn who possessed wisdom. And Sleipnir the eight legged horse. Creatures and materials from various dimensions across the Nine Realms. None of these had ever existed in his previous life.

If he could craft a magic wand using those materials then the old wand from his previous life would likely pale in comparison to the potential of these new wands he could create.

As he thought about this Sebastian realized that in this life he could do whatever he wanted with proper planning. But now it seemed that even though he had many opportunities available to him he still needed to engage in a few political transactions and form alliances.

Otherwise when faced with the crises of the future he would remain stuck at his current level. Unable to progress or protect what mattered.

He could not afford to sit idly by and wait for someone else to make the moves for him like a passive observer.

No one could guarantee that the person who was erased with the snap of Thanos' fingers would not change from the original timeline. Sebastian had already learned a valuable truth from his previous life and his experiences. Movies are just movies and this was the real world with real consequences.

It was useful to look at movies to predict potential future directions and major events. But one could never rely on them completely to make decisions about how to act.

Doing so would inevitably lead to a lot of suffering and regret.

With that thought in mind Sebastian took a deep breath. He calmed the excitement and regret he felt about his wand making success.

He began cleaning up the tools and scraps scattered across his workspace. He sat at his desk and started drafting a detailed introduction to the magic system he had learned in his previous life.

It was not until the following morning that Sebastian had managed to sort out even a small part of it properly.

The magic system he had learned in his previous life was enormous in scope. It had been developed over many centuries by countless wizards.

And there was one thing that needed to be addressed immediately.

The potions and herbal remedies from his previous life could not be directly used in this world without modification. While there were many ingredients for potions here some of the essential components simply did not exist in this reality.

As a result Sebastian would need to find substitutes for the missing ingredients. He would need to alter the recipes significantly.

Researching what was almost a semi original potion system would require ten times the resources needed for crafting a wand or more.

At least in the past six years Sebastian had been fortunate in one regard. An accidental discovery of the Marvel Universe's versions of healing potions and blood tonics had proven useful for basic treatments.

Even so their effectiveness had been significantly weakened compared to what he was used to in his previous life. They were only just barely usable for minor injuries.

It was not enough to simply spend a lot of time and energy studying potions that were suitable for this world alone. The most important factor was the significant amount of money required. Enough to fund various experiments and purchase rare materials.

With this in mind Sebastian began to formulate a plan for the future. If necessary he could open a potion research institute under a legitimate business front. He could seek investors with deep pockets. Using the investors' funds he could continue his research into magic medicines that were more appropriate for this world's biology. The medicines developed could then be sold as products to the general public. Of course this was only a preliminary idea at this stage. Sebastian had merely outlined a rough plan for the future that would need refinement.

Additionally there was the opportunity to make use of Tony Stark's kidnapping when it inevitably happened. The resulting chaos in Stark Industries' stock market value would provide a perfect window of opportunity. Sebastian could buy up Stark's shares at a bargain price during the panic. This combined with his growing network could lay the groundwork for financial leverage down the line.

For now though his focus remained on crafting a stronger and more suitable wand for himself in the near future. The wand he had just created though functional was not a perfect fit for his needs and combat style. He needed something better. One that aligned more closely with his magic and his nature.

And then there was the potion system. One that would need to evolve and adapt based on the materials available in this world.

Finally after successfully crafting a wand that was only adequate Sebastian exhaled with relief.
