Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5. THE MYSTERY OF THE KILLER BEGINS TO UNRAVEL

After that meeting, Alessandro and Luciana decided to cooperate in uncovering the perpetrators of their fiancés' murders.

Tonight, Luciana visited Alessandro again. Her curiosity about the Demon Head clan gripped her so strongly that it made her want to know more.

Now, the beautiful woman sat facing Alessandro. The atmosphere in the living room seemed silent, only the monotonous sound of heartbeats and the ticking of the wall clock could be heard, adding to the tension that enveloped the room.

"My arrival here is to know more deeply about the Demon Head," Luciana said, breaking the silence.

Alessandro raised one eyebrow, letting out a heavy breath. His eyes did not leave Luciana's face. Alessandro had already guessed the purpose of Luciana's visit.

"Demon Head is the most dangerous mafia clan in Europe. They are master strategists, trained killers, and do not hesitate to create massive chaos for their goals," he said.

He leaned back on the sofa, his fingers tapping the armrest, creating an irregular rhythm.

"We must act very carefully. One small mistake, and our lives will be lost. But there is one thing that makes me curious. Why were they able to be in your country? What were they looking for there that led them to kill your fiancé?"

Luciana let out a heavy breath. "What you are questioning is what I am also trying to find out. I do not understand why they could be in my country and kill my fiancé," she answered, her voice trembling slightly, reflecting the anger and confusion welling up in her chest.

"Strange," Alessandro muttered.

He compared the death of Giulia and the death of Adrian, Luciana's fiancé. Giulia's death might seem natural to many people because, after all, she was one of the respected mafia clan leaders in her country.

Many enemies would use any means to seize his position, and they would not hesitate to eliminate anyone, even the woman he loved dearly, just to make him careless, unstable, and devastated so they could easily take him down and seize his territory.

Alessandro sharpened his gaze, as if wanting to strip away every piece of information he did not yet know about Luciana. At this moment, he felt certain that the woman sitting across from him was still hiding a secret that she would reveal.

"Tell me, signorina, what haven't you told me yet?" he asked.

Luciana pulled the corners of her lips, displaying an unseen smile. She leaned back on the sofa, Luciana had already suspected that Alessandro would ask her about what he did not yet know.

"I am not much different from you. The only difference is that no one knows me as a female mafia. They only know me as the masked woman," she answered.

"But my fiancé was just a man who always dedicated himself to protecting nature reserves and cultural heritage so that they would not be destroyed by irresponsible people. Even a portion of the profits from his company was donated for the preservation of those two reserves."

Alessandro was surprised to hear Luciana's explanation. He stared at the woman with unblinking eyes, clearly reflecting admiration and something difficult for him to explain on his face.

He also remembered his dream. The pair of white tigers wailing, screaming, roaring, staring at him with eyes that seemed to beg for help.

"Nature reserves," he murmured inwardly.

His memory flew to all the information he had received from his subordinates, puzzle piece by puzzle piece starting to gather and fit together.

"Is it possible," Alessandro whispered to himself, his breath held by the tension that slowly wrapped the living room.

"Tomorrow at 7 p.m., one of my mafiosos will pick you up, and exactly at 12 midnight we will move to attack one of their headquarters," Alessandro said.

Luciana smirked. As a mafia, she immediately understood Alessandro's intention. From there began the first light to uncover the perpetrator of her fiancé's murder.

Just as Alessandro said, exactly at eight o'clock at night a mafioso picked up Luciana at Bianca's family residence. Now, the woman was at Alessandro's main headquarters, listening to every word and instruction from the blue-eyed man.

Alessandro showed the city map and marked one of the old warehouses that was believed to be a small Demon Head base.

"We cannot underestimate this enemy. If we take one wrong step, we will all die," Alessandro said with a very serious tone of voice.

They then discussed the infiltration strategy at length. Luciana suggested a secret route through quiet alleys, while Alessandro proposed a distraction by creating chaos on the other side of the city.

Every plan was tested with critical questions, every possibility was discussed down to the smallest detail, ensuring there was no gap for the enemy to surprise them.

Night began to creep in. Without realizing it, the clock had struck 11 p.m. The atmosphere in Alessandro's headquarters was filled with tension that could almost be felt by every breath. Dim lights reflected on the walls, revealing the silhouettes of the mafiosos busy checking weapons, communication equipment, and the city map spread out on the large table.

Alessandro walked among his subordinates, his eyes sharp, checking every preparation.

"Check all the weapons again. Make sure the ammunition is sufficient and nothing is damaged," he commanded in a firm tone. His voice pierced the silence, making everyone bow respectfully and focus on what they were doing.

Luciana stood on the other side of the room, wearing dark clothing that made it easy for her to move. She observed every mafioso, as if recording their strengths and weaknesses in her brain.

"We must be on time. A little carelessness will be fatal for all of us." Her voice sounded firm and cold. Her gaze was sharp and piercing.

On the other side, some mafiosos prepared and set up communication equipment. Cables, radios, and headsets were checked very thoroughly, while Alessandro returned to the map and pointed to the route they would take.

"Remember, this route is used for the diversion. Make sure no one takes a wrong step," he said with a firm tone.

He looked at each of his subordinates one by one, ensuring they understood the plan that had been neatly arranged.

Luciana looked at Alessandro. "If there are additional guards or traps, I can handle them. But we must remain in full coordination. Don't let anyone deviate from what we have discussed."

Alessandro nodded, his eyes gleaming looking at Luciana's face. The atmosphere in the room then became silent, second by second continuing to pass. Until finally the silence was broken by the sound of Luciana's steps walking toward the map.

"I will attack from here and enter through the narrow alley, while your team diverts their attention on the other side and everything must be very synchronized," she said.

Alessandro looked at the map, then turned to look at Luciana. He inhaled and exhaled. "Alright! And remember to be careful! Don't be careless."

He swept his gaze across all the mafiosos. His eyes were sharp, as if confirming their readiness. Then Alessandro glanced at the watch circling his wrist.

"It's time for us to depart!"
