Chapter 2 - The Shed

Taking a step back, Serif thought to himself, "Someone's gotta be on the other side right?". Too scared to open the door still, he stepped into the guest living room to his right. There was a window there that had a clear shot of the front porch. His new plan was to take a quick peek through the blinds and decide what to do from there.

Serif got to the window, sneakily he moved behind the couch to get to the window. Shakily he put his finger to the one of the blind strips and pulled down as slowly as his racing heart allowed.

"There better not be a slender man lookin thing standing there bruh", He prayed.

With the blind pulled down, the front porch was revealed. He held his breath to see what was lurking at the front door. Narrowing his gaze to the door step he caught a glimpse... of absolutely nothing.

"What the fuck?"

A little confused now, but certain that it was safe to open the door, he swung it open, a little annoyed now. Was his mind playing tricks on him? He saw nothing there. Everything was normal.

"Then what about the peephole?"

Looking at the peephole now he again saw nothing amiss. It was just the same as it always was. A little clear marble.

Back inside, Serif closed the door and peered through the peephole once more, just to make sure. It was normal now.

"Huh, what is going on with you Serif", He said quietly.

---

A little on alert now, he went back to his previous plans: going for a jog. Heading back upstairs he quickly changed into some clean athletic clothes he could find amidst the growing dirty laundry pile, grabbed his phone off the charger, headphones too. Heading back down to the kitchen now, he grabbed his steel black water bottle and began to fill it up in preparation for the run. Humming a song, his rhythm was interrupted.

*KNOCK KNOCK*

He heard it again. There was no way his mind was playing tricks on him.

But the knocking didn't come from the front door this time, it came from the back door.

Right behind him, with the blinds wide open as his eyes now were.

He had to look and make sure everything was alright, right? Serif had a choice, either stop filling up his bottle, run as fast as he could to his room and lock it, or he could do what he was dreading, to face the potential danger, and push himself out of his comfort zone.

"I can't be a bitch right now bro, I just made such a fuss about how I wanna change. But I'm scared as hell right now." He said.

Serif was hesitating.

In a not so quick decision, he jolted his body to face the back door.

The back porch had a motion sensing light that turned on whenever movement was detected. It was sure as hell on right now.

Again though, he saw nothing.

Nothing was there where the knocking occurred. The back porch was also as normal as ever. Feeling a bit relieved now, but still annoyed he scanned the backyard. Everything there was normal too. The barbeque was where his dad left it a week ago, the flip flops were exactly where they were an hour earlier, the shed was still in the far right corner of the yard. The shed... The shed.... The shed?

He swore no one had been in the shed. Except something was off. The light was on, and the door was ever so slightly crept open. There were shadows dancing over the light that crept out the crack of the door.

Something was most definitely wrong now.

Serif dropped his water bottle in fear.

*CLANK CLANK CLANK*

The steel of his bottle rung out an ear wrenching noise.

Immediately the shed's light turned off and the door shut.
