Chapter 111 - Kept Woman
As soon as the car came to a stop, Bai xia pushed the door open and jumped down without hesitation. Stella was startled by her sudden movement but quickly followed behind. Bai xia stood by the roadside for a moment, her gaze landing on a shop across the street. It was an antique shop—quiet, refined, with large glass windows that made it easy to see every item displayed inside.
Her footsteps slowly carried her toward it.
Through the clear glass, her eyes locked onto a set of tea cups displayed in the showcase. The moment she saw them, her pupils shrank slightly. Her heart skipped—not out of excitement, but familiarity.
She knew these tea cups.
In her past life, an extremely influential figure had searched everywhere for this exact set. At that time, the person who bought it had purchased it for only 10,000 yen. Later, as its value skyrocketed, he sold just one single cup for five million. And right now… right in this small shop… there were twelve full sets.
Twelve.
Bai xia's breathing grew a little tighter, her fingers unconsciously curling at her side.
Without hesitation, she stepped inside.
The soft sound of a bell rang as the door opened. A neatly dressed receptionist stood behind the counter. When she saw Bai xia's appearance—her elegant dressing, her composed figure—her attitude became a little more polite.
"Excuse me," Bai xia said calmly, her eyes fixed on the display outside. "I would like to buy that tea cup in the showcase. How much is it?"
The receptionist followed her gaze, then smiled faintly. "Miss, that set has already been reserved for someone else. However, there are many other things in our shop that might interest you."
Bai xia frowned slightly.
"But how much is it?" she insisted.
A trace of smugness flashed through the receptionist's eyes. Her tone shifted subtly. "It's five thousand yuan for a single tea cup," she said slowly, her gaze openly scanning Bai xia from head to toe. "Can you afford it?"
Her words carried an obvious insult.
In her mind, Bai xia was nothing more than a beautiful woman kept by some rich man. After finishing her sentence, the receptionist rolled her eyes without even trying to hide it.
Bai xia saw her attitude clearly.
"Who says I can't afford it?" she replied coldly. "I'll pay ten thousand for it."
The receptionist looked as if she had heard a joke. A faint sarcastic smile formed on her lips. "Don't come here to cause trouble. Just because you're wearing some fancy clothes doesn't make you a rich girl. I said it's reserved, so leave."
Bai xia's patience snapped.
Her expression darkened. "I want to speak to your manager."
The receptionist panicked for a brief second, but she quickly regained her composure. "Wait here," she said before disappearing into the back.
Bai xia stood quietly, her back straight, her aura cold and proud. A few seconds later, the receptionist walked out again—this time with two muscular guards behind her.
"There she is," the receptionist pointed. "Throw her out. She's causing trouble."
The two men immediately stepped toward Bai xia.
For a brief moment, Bai xia was completely dumbfounded.
She had clearly asked for the manager… yet this woman dared to bring guards to throw her out instead.
"I asked you to call your manager," Bai xia said slowly, every word heavy with cold pressure, "but instead you do this. Do you believe that if these guards touch me today, I'll make sure you never get a decent job again?"
The receptionist's face turned pale for a second. Fear flashed through her eyes—but when she glanced at the guards beside her, her confidence returned.
"Do you think my boss is someone who would listen to the likes of you?" she sneered. "You'll never reach him in your life. Even the old man supporting you will never reach him."
Bai xia's gaze sharpened like a blade.
"The old man supporting me?" she repeated softly. "Do you dare say that to his face?"
The receptionist burst into ugly laughter. "You're so shameless, admitting that you're being kept. Shame on you—pah!"
She spat at Bai xia.
The spit was meant to land on her face—but it missed and fell onto her shoe instead.
Silence fell.
Bai xia slowly lowered her head and looked at the stain on her shoe. The air around her turned terrifyingly cold.
Her gaze darkened completely.
"Drag her out," the receptionist said arrogantly. "Our shop doesn't serve people like her."
One of the guards stepped toward Bai xia.
But before he could touch her—
She had already turned around.
She walked out of the shop without another word, each step calm yet heavy with suppressed anger. She got into the car and slammed the door shut.
"Drive," she said coldly. "To Mr. Fu's company."
"Yes, Miss," Stella replied immediately.
The car started moving.
Bai xia leaned back against the seat, her eyes closed briefly. The humiliation replayed in her mind, every word, every insult. Her fingers clenched tightly.
It didn't take long before they arrived at the Fu Group.
As Bai xia lifted her head to look at the towering glass building, a complicated emotion flashed through her eyes. Compared to this, her own company building felt like night and day. For a brief second, a rare trace of jealousy stirred inside her chest.
As soon as the car came to a stop, Bai xia didn't even wait for Stella to park properly.
She got out and walked straight toward the entrance.
The security guards immediately moved to block her.
"Miss, you don't have a tag. What are you here for?"
Bai xia was already extremely irritated from everything that had happened today.
"I'm here to see my fiancé."
The guards exchanged glances. "Then please call him out. We can't let you in without confirmation."
Bai xia took out her phone in annoyance and dialed Fu jian's number.
It rang only once before the call connected.
"Fu jian," she said sharply, holding back the storm in her heart. "I'm outside your company. Come get me."
When the guards heard the name Fu jian, their faces subtly changed.
But they had never heard of the CEO having a fiancée.
Could it be another Fu jian?
They stiffened and stood their ground. This girl might be deceiving them.
Bai xia ended the call and slipped her phone back into her pocket.
Just then, a cold scoff sounded behind her.
She turned around.
A group of office workers had stopped to watch the scene. The woman who scoffed stepped forward, her gaze filled with disdain.
"Who are you trying to deceive?" the woman mocked. "Are you here to be a fox spirit?"
Bai xia's patience shattered completely.
Why did everyone think she was being kept?
Was it a crime for a woman to be beautiful and wear good clothes?
She looked at the woman slowly and replied coolly, "You're dressed more extravagantly than me. So are you kept by multiple men?"
The woman almost choked with anger.
One of the girls behind her quickly spoke up, "Our Lu Tiang is the CEO's girlfriend! How could she lower herself to your level?"
Bai xia's anger exploded.
"Fu jian is my fiancé," she said coldly. "Since when is he your boyfriend?"
The people behind Lu Tiang burst into laughter. Even Lu Tiang herself let out a faint, pretentious laugh.
She lowered her head slightly, putting on a fake shy smile. "Please don't misunderstand… the boss and I aren't what you think…"
"Lu Tiang, stop being shy!" someone teased.
"Yes! Everyone can see how the boss treats you!"
"Unlike some nobody who thinks she's better than you!"
Their mockery hadn't even finished when—
Footsteps echoed from inside the building.
Four bodyguards walked out in perfect formation, standing in two lines.
A tall figure slowly emerged from the doorway.
And at that moment—
Bai xia's gaze became even more furious see Fu Jian step into the sunlight so casually like he was on vacation.
