Tonia's POV
"She lost everything that happened that night." Uma's voice cut through the tension like a blade. My eyes darted to her face, searching for deception. "My sister surviving was nothing short of a miracle. Someone wanted her dead. They shot her and she tumbled into the rushing water below. Thank God some fishermen pulled her out in time. When she finally woke up, I was the only face she recognized."
The words hit me like physical blows.
"That's why I've been so protective. We're terrified those same people are still hunting her."
"What can she actually recall?" Lucien's question came out carefully measured.
"Fragments at best. Scattered pieces from when she was a teenager, nothing more."
"No." My hands pressed against my face, trying to hold back the storm building inside me.
"The medical team assured us her memories will return eventually."
