KERMIT's POV
I stared down at the empty plate, amazed that I had consumed every last bite.
"Would you like seconds?"
"I'm satisfied."
She collected the dishes and headed toward the kitchen.
My eyes drifted back to those damn chains, and a familiar ache settled in my chest. Being restrained like this made my skin crawl. More than anything, I craved the comfort of sleeping in an actual bed tonight.
But I couldn't trust my own control. The improvements I felt might be temporary. What happened when the darkness returned? The thought of accidentally harming Tonia or Suzanne made my stomach turn.
Especially Tonia. I would never survive causing her pain.
Still, something deep inside whispered that her presence alone could keep me grounded.
I followed her into the kitchen where she stood scrubbing plates at the sink.
"Would you consider sleeping beside me tonight?"
Her movements froze, a plate suspended in soapy water as she turned to stare at me with wide eyes.
