Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: disappeared

Back to the Leng Manor – Leng Xuanmo Study Room*

Heavy rain tapped against the tall windows of the eastern wing, thunder echoing like a warning. Inside the study, warm light from the chandelier barely softened the tension. Leng Xuanmo stood behind his desk, hands resting on the edge, silent and cold. Leng Yumo sat on the leather couch, arms crossed, eyes sharp.

The door opened.

Mo Tianyi entered, face unreadable, his black coat damp at the hem.

"You're late," Xuanmo said, without looking up.

"I wasn't going to come back until I was sure," Tianyi replied, stepping forward and placing a file on the desk. "But now I am."

Leng Yumo leaned forward. "You found the mole?"

Tianyi nodded. "It wasn't someone outside the system. It was someone inside. Someone close to *you*."

Leng Xuanmo finally looked up, cold eyes boring into his. "Who."

Tianyi opened the file, revealing security log timestamps, transaction routes, digital signatures—then one photo: *Li Zeyan*.

Leng Yumo's jaw tightened. "That's impossible. He's been with brother Xuanmo for years. He's loyal."

Tianyi's voice was low. "Too loyal. Loyal enough to be invisible."

Xuanmo didn't speak, eyes locked on the photo like it might explode.

"He used your encrypted vault signature. The digital forensics confirmed it. But it wasn't forged. It was *replicated*. Meaning someone with internal access cloned your private credentials. Someone who had enough trust to be left alone with them."

Yumo stood. "He was part of the investigation. You're saying... he fed us crumbs while covering his tracks?"

Tianyi nodded. "He orchestrated the downfall of the Lu family. Froze their assets. Buried the leads. And framed it to make you look involved."

A long silence.

Then Xuanmo spoke—calm, but glacial. "Where is he now?"

Tianyi's eyes hardened. "Gone. Disappeared an hour before I confirmed the data. He knew I was close."

Shiyan hissed. "So this entire time, the one beside you was the traitor."

Xuanmo's voice was low. "No wonder every lead hit a wall."

He stepped around the desk, silent fury in his movements.

"Track him down," he said to Tianyi, his tone like a death sentence. "Bring him to me."

"And when I do?" Tianyi asked.

Xuanmo's lips curled into a cold smirk. "He betrayed the wrong family."

Thunder boomed outside, as if echoing the storm to come.

The door opened and a pair of long legs walked in. All eyes turn to the person and all were shocked. Didn't Mo Tianyi said he disappeared an hour ago? How come he's here?

"Brother Zeyan" Leng Yumo called as the guy looked up from the folder in his hands.

He looked at the pair of eyes looking at him and he could sense danger. A very deep danger. And he could feel himself not be able to run or anything

"Didn't you say he disappeared?" Leng Yumo asked

"Disappeared? Why would I disappear?" He asked

"Li Zeyan" Yumo called knowing this is the time to be serious I want to ask a question and I want you to reply me honestly" Leng Yumo said

"Of course"

"Do you know the obsidian?" Leng Shiyan asked instead

"Obsidian?" Li Zeyan asked as he looked around the room. He wondered what had happened and how they found the obsidian. He knew it was out already and he couldn't escape

"Yes" he replied honestly

"How do you know him?" Leng Shiyan asked again

Li Zeyan thought for a while if he should say the truth and he knows it's the truth that can save him now

"I gave him a job" he replied honestly not daring to lie
