Chapter 8 - The beginning

The room unknowingly turned deadly silent, with only the morning breeze still present.

After a moment of silence, the entire corridor suddenly burst back to life. Everyone was chatting and discussing loudly, and their voices could be heard throughout the hall.

"Did you hear that? We can go to the outside world."

"Yes, I heard it very clearly. I even doubted my ears for a moment."

"We can finally go outside."

...

"C grade in all subjects? Seriously?"

"How am I supposed to get a C in every subject?"

"I was barely passing with an E grade, and now I have to get a C in everything?"

...

Everything became complicated. Shock, anger, disappointment, and mixed emotions filled the corridor.

Marcus could not help but sigh. "How am I supposed to get a C grade?"

James grabbed Marcus's shoulder and shook his head slightly. "Forget it. Our dream was shattered in an instant."

Their goal was to go outside together and witness the world. But now the dream they had pursued all along was crushed by just a few words.

Marcus had thought that James might have a solution, so he had placed all his hopes on him.

But after hearing James's words, the tiny bit of hope in his heart was instantly drained.

"I thought you would have a solution…" Marcus said gloomily.

"Actually, I do have a solution for the two of you," Lilian said calmly.

Marcus and James felt their hope reignite once again.

Without waiting for them to ask, she continued casually, "You need to study and work hard."

Marcus and James listened carefully, hoping for a miracle from this genius. But what came out of her mouth felt like a fantasy to them.

Lilian was talented and naturally good at studying. Getting a C did not concern her at all.

For her, it was a piece of cake. But for Marcus and James, it was like climbing a mountain.

"Do you have any solution other than studying?" James frowned at Lilian.

"Another solution? Is there any better way than studying and working hard?" she replied calmly, giving James a sharp glance.

"Yes, I know it is the best solution, but I still feel like I cannot do it. Even getting an E grade is hard for me, let alone a C," Marcus said, his voice filled with uncertainty.

"It is very simple," Lilian said without looking away from James.

Marcus seemed to guess what she meant, but he did not speak. He waited for her to say it clearly.

Lilian finally shifted her gaze from James to Marcus. "You already know it. The answer is to stop wasting time reading novels and focus entirely on studying."

Marcus could not help but look at James. James looked back. They stared at each other for a moment.

"Ahem, let me make a decision," Marcus said, his tone filled with unwillingness.

"Decision? It is simple. You do not need to think that much," Lilian mocked lightly, suddenly realizing something.

She glanced around the corridor and noticed only a few people still remained.

Compared to before, the corridor had become quiet.

Realizing this, Lilian quickly ran toward her room.

Marcus and James watched her run off and exchanged puzzled looks.

They quickly scanned the corridor and noticed that only a few students were left, and those few were now rushing to their rooms as well.

Without thinking, Marcus and James quickly bid each other farewell and returned to their own room.

It had been a while since the announcement ended, and class usually started at 8. The voice had first spoken at 7.

It was normal for the students to prepare for class and eat breakfast at the food hall.

Marcus closed the door and collapsed onto his bed. He could not help but think,

How am I supposed to get a C grade? It is impossible.

Thinking was one of his hobbies. Normally, he did not think too deeply about things, but after reading novels, thinking became something he enjoyed.

Many solutions appeared in his mind, but none of them worked.

How can I go outside… It seems there is no solution at all. The only option left is still studying.

After thinking without finding an answer, he stood up and prepared to bathe.

Aunt Bella did not come today. It must be because I woke up early.

Normally, Bella would do this for him, but she was busy serving his mother Rosalie today, so she did not come.

Her schedule was at 9 AM, when Marcus was usually still asleep. But today he woke up earlier than ever.

After a while, he was done. He looked at himself in the mirror and showed a childish smile.

I am actually better looking than those main characters. And compared to Raven from the novel "The Fallen Hero," I am far more handsome than him.

The mirror reflected his appearance. He wore a white shirt with wide sleeves, a simple vest, brown trousers, and brown leather boots.

He gave off a youthful and unique charm.

He checked himself unhurriedly to make sure nothing was wrong with his outfit.

After confirming everything was perfect, he looked at the clock on the wall. It was 7:40 AM.

Class will start soon. I need to hurry.

This was his first time waking up early and also his first time going to class without being late.

Today feels refreshing. I never realized the morning air could be so pleasant. I have always read in novels that the morning breeze can calm the heart.

I never tried it myself, but now I finally did, and it is true.

He shifted his gaze from the clock and cast at door.

He seems to hesitation about something, this makes his right hand who was inch away from Hadle stopped.

This was my first time waking up early and also going out alone. It felt very strange. It was as if I was a new member randomly walking among others.

After thinking this, he could not help but pull his right hand away from the door handle.

Ehh… Why am I thinking like this? This is my home, the place where I was born. My father is the ruler of this area, so why do I need to hesitate?

I am just like those main characters in novels who are rich but still useless.

He shook his head slightly, and without any hesitation he quickly put back his right hand on handle and he twisted slowly.

The door opened slowly and walk out is Marcus who was filled with sprite and confident.

The first thing he did was look around the corridor, glancing left and right.

Phew, compared to yesterday, today feels very fresh, and the corridor is filled with members. It is nothing like yesterday, when the corridor felt like a haunted place.

Unlike before, the corridor was now filled with students. Some walked and talked, while others walked alone. Almost everyone held a handbag.

Ah, I forgot my handbag.

He turned back to his room and retrieved it.

A few seconds later, he came out again, and after confirming that every thing is in place.

He hurried toward the food hall.

While walking, he thought:

The class I have this morning is Combat class.

He let out a small sigh.

There were 5 subjects, each with its own schedule.

In this world, there were 7 days in a week, each with a different name: Moonday, Blazeday, Stormday, Blessday, Forgeday, Starryday, Dreamday.

Knowledge class ran from Moonday to Stormday.

Combat class was on Blessday.

Sword class was on Forgeday.

Experience class was on Starryday.

Foundation class was on Dreamday.

Each class had 2 professors, and every professor taught 2 hours per day.

Knowledge was the main subject, so it had the most classes.

Forget it. I need to hurry, or the only food left will be the worst food.

He sped up. The closer he got to the food hall, the more students he saw.

Finally, he arrived. The food hall looked entirely different from yesterday.

Upon seeing the food hall. Marcus couldn't help but thought:

Why are there so many people here? There aren't even any seats left.

Yesterday, it was empty and silent. Now it was full of people.

The hall was noisy. Students walked in and out. Sounds filled the space. The air was full of different aromas.

It felt like day and night compared to yesterday. That was because Marcus woke up early, and class had not yet started.

Seeing the hall full of students, Marcus could not help showing a strange expression.

This was his first time seeing the food hall so lively. He usually woke up late and ate alone, or with his mother and father.

But now, neither of them was here. Only students.

He stood still, unsure what to do.

What should I do? This is my first time here with so many members. I don't even know anyone here.

If Bella were here, he might feel like he belonged. But now he was alone, knowing no one else.

Why do I feel like this again? It's not like I'm a stranger here. I am the pride of the first area. I need to overcome this.

Just as he was about to step forward, a voice called out behind him.

He turned and saw James, and behind him was Lilian, still calm as always.

Upon seeing James, Marcus could not help but relax. It was as if the hesitation he felt earlier had completely disappeared.

Marcus instinctively stepped back, then waved at James with a bright smile flashes across his face.

James waved back and ran over, putting an arm around Marcus's shoulder.

"Look what we have here. You actually came to the food hall." James laughed after he finish his sentence.

"I thought you would still be sleeping," Lilian said.

Just as Marcus was about to replied, James voice cut him off.

"Let's go in, if we didn't hurried we might eat the leftover."

"Yes, let's go and find a seat. If we keep talking, we might end up eating while standing," Lilian said as she walked ahead.

After seeing this, Marcus could not help but reveal a bright smile. It was as if his hesitation and fear of not belonging had suddenly faded, leaving only the radiant expression on his face.

"Let's go."
