The next day, I woke up in a daze. Jasper and Lysander were still sleeping peacefully, their calm faces making me wonder how they did it after everything that had happened. Once they woke, we changed and headed to class. The teacher handed each of us a thick book about the kingdoms and their cities a whole lot of reading I definitely wasn't in the mood for. Halfway through the lesson, exhaustion hit me like a wall, and I decided right then that I'd spend the rest of the day asleep.
When class finally ended and I was about to leave, I noticed Selene standing near the door, ready to go. The moment our eyes met, I instinctively looked down, silently wishing the ground would swallow me whole. She held my gaze for just a second, her expression unreadable, then walked past without a word. My heart was still racing as I hurried to the cafeteria, grabbed a quick meal, and rushed back to the dorm. The moment I hit the bed, I was out sleeping like a child without a care in the world.
When I woke up, the sky outside had already turned dim. The door creaked open, and Jasper and Lysander stepped in. Jasper laughed, saying, "You slept so deeply, we even screamed and you didn't react."
They suddenly changed the topic and asked if I'd joined any club.
I shook my head. "Nah, not yet."
"Then you can join us," one of them said.
"Join you? What do you mean?" I asked, confused.
They grinned. "We're part of a club called Twilight Convergence. It's been around for a long time founded by two people, but no one really knows who they were."
I hesitated for a second, then sighed. "Alright, fine. I'll join."
They smiled and wrote my name down.
"Welcome to Twilight Convergence," they said.
After that, they said they were tired and went to sleep.
Once they were gone, I stepped outside and sat on a chair near the dorm, looking up at the night sky. It was calm stars scattered everywhere, cold breeze brushing against my face.
Then, out of nowhere, the world began to twist.
The stars flickered and vanished, the ground cracked, and everything around me started to fade into pure darkness.
I looked around, heart pounding. "What… what's happening?"
A faint light appeared far away. Without thinking, I ran toward it.
But no matter how far I went, it never got closer.
I stopped, panting. That's when I felt something warm under my feet warm and wet.
Then the darkness started changing. Trees, water, and rocks began forming around me like the world was rebuilding itself.
In front of me, something glowed softly.
It didn't hurt my eyes just shimmered calmly.
Then a voice echoed in the air.
First, a quiet hum. "Hmm…"
Then, words. "It's been a while since I saw"
The voice paused. I guess it noticed how scared I looked.
"Next time," it said, before fading away completely.
Everything snapped back to normal.
I was drenched in sweat.
When I tried to stand, I tripped over someone's foot.
"Ah, sorry, sorry!" I said quickly.
A calm voice replied, "Don't worry, it's fine."
I looked up and froze. It was one of the teachers.
She smiled slightly. "Come on, kid, sit down."
I hesitated, then sat beside her.
"I think I remember you," she said, looking thoughtful. "From the ceremony. You scored around seven hundred something, right?"
"Yeah," I said quietly.
"Not bad. Keep working hard you might surpass us one day."
She leaned back a little. "So, what are you doing outside this late?"
"I slept all day," I admitted. "You?"
"Just bored," she said simply.
We sat in silence for a bit. Then I stood up. "I should probably get back. Need some more sleep."
She laughed softly. "After sleeping all day?"
I scratched my head. "Yeah… I guess I've got nothing better to do."
"Alright," she said, standing too. "Before you go, let me show you something."
She raised her hand, and a swirl of colorless magic flowed from her palm. It drifted around us like mist, then lifted us both gently into the air.
She smiled. "Feels nice, doesn't it?"
Then she lowered us back down. "See? Wind magic. I can control the air."
"That's… amazing," I said.
She tilted her head. "What about you? What's your attribute?"
"I don't know," I replied.
Her expression shifted. "What do you mean?"
"At the exam," I said, "the examiner told me my attribute is… unknown. For now."
She sighed softly. "That's rare. I don't know much about it, but I'll help you figure it out. Maybe even awaken it."
She reached out and placed her hand gently on my head.
"I'll teach you tomorrow," she said with a small smile. "Or the day after."
"Sure,"
I said quietly.
Then I headed back to my dorm, laid on my bed, and fell asleep almost instantly.
