The helicopter descends rapidly, its spotlight cutting a searing, invasive beam across the large rear ground where Carmine just fell.
"Shit!" I yell. I immediately draw my weapon, spinning away from the window.
The mercenaries behind the searchlight aren't the only threat. D'Angelo, wielding a weapon, is visible, hanging half out of the helicopter door. He doesn't waste time looking for Carmine. He immediately fires back at the house, spraying the windows with lead.
We return fire. The glass around the landing shatters inward as the two sides violently exchange fire. The siege has just turned into a deadly, airborne counter-ambush.
A dark figure, rappelling or simply jumping out of the helicopter while it hovers low, lands heavily near the injured Carmine. The figure moves fast, grabs Carmine, who is screaming in pain and rage, and drags him toward the hoist.
