Chapter 97 - Chapter 97: Sengoku and Fujitora (Part 1)

It was the evening of the seventh day after the great battle on Junk Island in Water 7.

At Iceberg's Mansion in Water 7, three old Admirals and a blind middle-aged man were discussing something in Iceberg's office.

These four individuals were former World Government Fleet Admiral Sengoku, Marine Vice Admiral Garp and Tsuru, and Marine Admiral Fujitora.

Sengoku, Garp, and Tsuru were people who had supported each other in the World Government since the era of Pirate King Roger, upholding the justice of the World Government's rule.

They were now all in their prime, though their strength was unfathomable.

Sengoku, due to his military career, had earned many honorifics, known as "Sengoku the Buddha" and "Sengoku the Tactician."

Sengoku was originally the Fleet Admiral of Marineford, an Ability User of the Zoan-type Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Great Buddha Form, possessing Three-Color Haki (all King-level), and always had a white goat nearby for shredding documents.

After the Marineford War, he resigned as Fleet Admiral and is now the Grand Inspector of Marineford. Not long ago, he appeared in Dressrosa, assisting in the apprehension of Heavenly Yaksha Donquixote Doflamingo.

Sengoku, hailing from the South Blue, was hailed as "Sengoku the Tactician" during the Great Pirate Era, and was a long-time rival of great pirates like Whitebeard and Golden Lion.

He later rose to Fleet Admiral, leading and commanding the Marines. In his youth, he joined the Marines at the same time as Garp, Tsuru, and Zephyr.

Sengoku wore frog-eye glasses, his long chin beard braided, and his Marine cap had a seagull symbolizing the Marines. Beneath his cap was a shock of hair. Now his hair was white, and his face had many more wrinkles.

Sengoku upheld the justice of ruling the world, and as "Sengoku the Buddha," he was the highest authority in the Marines. From a young age, he firmly believed in the government's orders.

He rose to his current position by reliably completing missions. For those who doubted the government, even comrades would become targets of his attack, such was his high loyalty.

Anyone who disobeyed government orders was not a Marine; this stubborn ideology was his guiding principle.

Now, as the Grand Inspector of Marineford, his personality has become much more cheerful after shedding the heavy responsibility of Fleet Admiral. His attire has become more casual, and his speech less serious.

Sengoku's Devil Fruit ability is the Zoan-type Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Great Buddha Form. The Great Buddha Form of the Hito Hito no Mi is an extremely powerful form.

After consumption, he can transform into a giant golden Buddha statue and unleash powerful shockwaves. But its true effect is to grant the user the power, wisdom, and spirit of a Buddha.

Combining a giant body like a Great Buddha with a brilliant mind and perfect technique turns the Ability User into the ultimate person, embodying mind, body, and skill. Sengoku, who inherently possessed the Aptitude of a King, was truly like a tiger with wings after obtaining the Buddha form of the Hito Hito no Mi.

In his childhood, Sengoku was very skilled in calligraphy and even won a calligraphy championship title. He was a long-time comrade-in-arms with "Iron Fist" Garp.

During Roger's era, Sengoku and Garp together led the Marine front lines, often clashing fiercely with "Whitebeard" Edward Newgate. Just like Garp and Roger, Sengoku and Whitebeard were destined rivals.

At that time, Sengoku not only possessed formidable strength but was also extremely skilled in strategy, repeatedly manipulating pirates in battle. This man, who had defeated several great pirates, also instilled fear in his enemies as a tactician.

Decades ago, Sengoku found a child. Believing him to be an orphan, he brought him into the Marines. Later, upon learning he was Doflamingo's younger brother, he sent him on an undercover mission.

The codenames used for their liaison were: Rosinante, codenamed "Komugiko," and Sengoku, codenamed "Daisenbei." To Sengoku, Rosinante was like his own son. However, Rosinante later died during this undercover mission.

When "Golden Lion" Shiki learned that Roger had been arrested by the Marines, he furiously attacked Marineford. Admiral Sengoku and Vice Admiral Garp, upon hearing the news, came to stop Golden Lion.

This battle between the three lasted until the town of Marineford was half-destroyed before a victor emerged. Afterward, the pirate "Golden Lion" was imprisoned in Impel Down.

Twenty years ago, Sengoku, at 59, as an Admiral, gave CP9 Chief Spandine (Spandam's father, both deceased) a chance to use a "Buster Call" to attack Ohara.

The order was to destroy Ohara's masterminds, but it was also an order from the Gorosei. When Saul questioned the Marines, Sengoku roared, "Are you questioning the government's judgment?" stopping Saul from saying anything further.

Thirteen years ago, Sengoku, at 66, as a Marine Admiral, represented the Marines in a "Ope-Ope no Mi" transaction with a group of pirates.

He was shocked when Rosinante revealed he knew about it, asking Rosinante how he knew this top-secret information. Finally, seeing Rosinante's demise, he was heartbroken and wept.

Two years ago, Sengoku commanded the war against the New World pirates, led by the Whitebeard Pirates, at the execution site of "Fire Fist" Ace at Marineford.

He cut off the live broadcast of Ace's public execution, believing that "not everything needs to be made public; only the word 'victory' needs to be conveyed to the citizens a few hours later."

Unexpectedly, an image Den Den Mushi was taken by Buggy and his crew, disrupting the concealed war scene and plan.

To sow discord among Whitebeard's allied forces, Sengoku instructed the Pacifistas to only attack the New World pirate crews.

He also ordered "Akainu" Sakazuki to spread rumors to "Great Whirlpool Spider" Squard, and then announced Ace's execution when activating the encirclement wall to trap the pirates.

After Ace's death, Blackbeard appeared. Sengoku, because "Blackbeard" Marshall D. Teach threatened to sink Marineford, transformed into his giant Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Great Buddha Form, unleashing shockwaves that heavily damaged the Blackbeard Pirates.

He also said, "This is the Holy Land of justice; a young upstart should not speak of sinking it so casually."

Subsequently, he and Garp engaged in a fierce battle with "Blackbeard," sustaining some injuries. After the Red Hair Pirates appeared, he declared a formal ceasefire to the Marines.

He also promised "Red Hair" Shanks that Red Hair would be fully responsible for the matter. After the war, while Sengoku was recovering from his injuries, he received news that Impel Down had been completely destroyed.

Magellan was severely wounded in an attack by Blackbeard's crew. Blackbeard held a deathmatch in Level 6 and took the four strongest surviving prisoners.

The rest of the prisoners had almost all disappeared. However, Sengoku, to prevent the prisoners from causing chaos, wanted to issue a bounty order but was pressured by the World Government (who believed the scandal should not be exposed) to suppress the news of the Level 6 prisoners' escape. Sengoku was furious about this.

Two weeks after the "Great Incident," Sengoku resigned as Fleet Admiral to World Government Commander Kong, stating that the Marines no longer needed outdated leaders.

Kong accepted his resignation but still persuaded him and Garp to remain in the Marines to train new recruits. Before leaving, Sengoku recommended "Aokiji" Kuzan to succeed him as Fleet Admiral.

Now, due to the sudden emergence of the Akatsuki Organization, the World Government's prestige has been damaged. The Gorosei directly arranged for Sengoku to eliminate the Akatsuki Organization.

Although Garp has always held the title of Vice Admiral, his strength is already on par with an Admiral, and he is no less powerful than Sengoku.

The reason he has remained a Vice Admiral is that Garp's free-spirited nature did not want to be constrained by the trivialities of an Admiral, so he declined many promotion opportunities.

Staff Officer Tsuru, while slightly less powerful than the other two, also possesses Admiral-level strength, no weaker than Kizaru.

Doflamingo, in particular, was so terrified by Staff Officer Tsuru's constant pursuit that he fled without a fight. This shows that although Staff Officer Tsuru is a Vice Admiral, her strength is absolutely formidable.

The appearance of these three old Admirals, coupled with the new Marine Admiral Fujitora, means that the enemies the Akatsuki Organization faces this time are enough to strike fear into any force in the world.

And this great battle is also destined to be recorded in history...
