Chapter 24 - The War That Ended, and the Peace That Never Stayed

The Naryans and Arians

both sides drew back from the battlefield.

Soldiers from both kingdoms fell into silence,

resting, waiting, wondering why they still fought.

This war was hopeless.

There was no need to fight anymore.

It wasn't a war it was a graveyard.

A note of sorrow written into history.

A goodbye.

Both sides stopped for a while,

their soldiers resting and patching their wounds.

A Naryan soldier whispered,

"Why don't we surrender? Why don't we go home?

We're already losing."

Another replied,

"Yes… this one is hopeless."

Ema stood up, her voice sharp.

"How can you call yourselves soldiers if you're giving up?

Look at us just a handful of children and yet we're still standing!"

Edwin, who was usually the loudest,

had no words this time.

Thomas said quietly,

"This isn't a war anymore… we're just lost in this world."

Daria looked down at her gun.

"Win or lose, it doesn't matter.

We'll still feel the pain of the men who died out there."

Rowan clenched his fists.

"This is stupid. Don't give up now."

At the edge of the camp, Lady Gaga and Commander Blackwell

walked aside, away from the children.

Lady Gaga said softly,

"They're right. We can't win this war."

Blackwell stared at the dying fire.

"Should we go home as losers, or as soldiers who stood till the end?

We fight. Like commanders who don't pity themselves."

On the Arian side,

their camp was silent.

The only one still standing was Commander Cruella.

The others were gone dead, buried, or forgotten.

Some soldiers muttered,

"We don't have to fight anymore.

We've already lost our commanders."

Cruella walked to the edge of the camp and cried

for her soldiers, for her brothers, for the kingdom.

Then she turned back to her army, eyes red and wet.

"We fight," she said, voice breaking.

"Even if we've lost everyone else… we fight."

In the shadows, a tanker rolled out of the smoke.

Inside it were Zero and Eren.

Eren said quietly,

"If you go to the Queen to our Queen

this war could end.

You carry the necklace of the royal family."

Zero said nothing.

He already knew.

That was Aria's dying wish.

Eren turned the tanker around,

heading back toward Zone 2 of the Arian Kingdom.

When they arrived,

Eren handed Zero a soldier's uniform.

"You can't walk around as a Naryan," he said.

"Cover yourself."

Aria's body was already cold.

Zero wrapped her in the spare uniform

and carried her on his back as they entered the kingdom.

The city was calm.

People smiled, traded goods,

as if their soldiers weren't dying at the border.

Eren whispered,

"Keep your head low. Don't look at anyone."

They walked until they reached the palace gates.

A guard stopped them.

"Where do you think you're going?

Soldiers should be fighting, not walking the streets."

Eren trembled, but raised his voice.

"I have a message for the Queen!"

The guards laughed until Zero lifted the necklace.

The sunlight hit it,

and the royal symbol shone.

Inside the palace, the Ice Queen of Arian was in a meeting.

When the guards burst in, the nobles cursed them.

"You fool! Can't you see the Queen is in council?"

The guard dropped to his knees.

"My Queen… your daughter… she's been found."

The Queen froze.

Then she ordered, "Bring them in."

Eren bowed low, shaking.

It was his first time seeing the Queen.

Zero walked straight ahead,

carrying Aria's body.

He didn't bow.

Didn't lower his head.

The nobles shouted,

"You slave! Kneel before your Queen!"

Zero looked straight at her, silent.

Then Eren cried out,

"My Queen, he's not one of us he's Naryan!"

The hall erupted.

Guards raised their guns.

The nobles shouted about assassins and spies.

Zero's voice cut through them

quiet, heavy, dangerous.

"If I wanted to kill your Queen,

I wouldn't walk in here carrying my own dead."

He raised the necklace.

The Queen stared.

"That's… my daughter's necklace."

Her voice broke.

"Where is she?"

Zero's rage finally burst.

He raised his rifle, pointing it straight at the Queen.

"You did this.

You killed her.

Your soldiers killed her!"

The guards aimed at him,

but before anyone could fire,

the cloth on his back slipped

and Aria's lifeless face was revealed.

The Queen froze.

The pain in Zero's eyes

she recognized it.

It was the same pain she once carried.

She raised her hand.

"Lower your weapons," she whispered.

Zero dropped his gun,

laid Aria's body on the floor,

and placed the necklace on her chest.

Then a guard struck him on the head.

He fell unconscious.

When he woke,

he was blindfolded, his hands tied.

He could hear soldiers talking.

The Queen had written a letter

and sent Eren to escort him back to the battlefield.

The letter was delivered to Commander Cruella,

who read it and wept.

Then she sent it to Commander Blackwell.

Blackwell read it,

then passed it to Lady Gaga,

who passed it to Daria,

who read it aloud to the soldiers:

Letter from Queen Alane of Arian

"To the Kingdom of Naryan,

I call for peace.

For I have found the body of my daughter.

Let this be the end of war.

May both kingdoms rest,

for we have already lost too much."

The battlefield fell silent.

The war was over.

Over nine million soldiers dead.

Their bodies buried across the plains.

The funeral took a month.

Every soldier was nameless,

every grave unmarked.

It took two months before the King of Naryan

accepted the peace.

The people celebrated.

But peace… peace never stays long.

To honor the truce,

both kingdoms built a new base in the foresee

a joint headquarters called G-Space,

where Arians and Naryans would train together.

It took two years to complete.

In those years, we rested.

The Rebirth

When Recruit Day came,

both kingdoms gathered again.

New soldiers, new commanders, new faces.

Cruella became Co Commander.

Blackwell became Chief Commander.

Lady Gaga served as Advisor.

Thomas was named Captain.

Edwin and Rowan led the Recruit Division.

Daria and Ema trained the female soldiers.

Twilight was appointed Assistant Commander.

And me Zero

I was given the title of Captain.

To lead.

To teach.

To remember.

But deep inside,

I kept my secret.

My real name.

Ren.

The name I'd almost forgotten.

The name only two girls ever said

one with white hair,

one with yellow.

The Next War

Peace lasted two years.

Then came the next enemy.

The Kingdom of Atira.

A nation of brutality,

armed with weapons we'd never seen

bombs, tanks, cannons of fire.

And once again,

the world of Arian and Naryan

now united as The Arinyan Force

prepared for war.

The war had begun again.

And this time,

we fought not for glory

but for survival.
