Chapter 27: has to keep Conon under control
After he got up they slept and only Conon stayed awake till the inspector Megure came to receive the report and finally fell asleep. Rito did not wake up Kogoro but instead cooperated with the inspector related to the case and all the locations.
By the time it was noon the inspector came to wake up Kogoro and the old cop that is still sleeping. None of Ran, Conon or the doctor slept peacefully. Well it is a strange place and they did not have the same kind of experience as Rito.
Rito might be a lawyer in his past life but he is more like a mercenary that is also a jack of all trades. So he can technically do anything and one of the habits of a mercenary is to sleep quickly and wake up quickly when required.
It is more like a soldier training when in patrolling or defense area. So his discipline is still there and he is good to go at any moment with full force. His body is still healthy and is peaceful like a calm ocean that can turn into a storm at any moment.
He did not stay here to waste his time instead he went out to play in the ocean after changing his clothes. It is not like anything would solve immediately instead it would take time to investigate and interrogate the entire thing.
There will be a murder soon in the radio room above later. It is the ex mayor candidates that is dead and the most suspected candidate that was discovered. So naturally things would be messy. Till then Rito has nothing to do any he put on simple shorts to go out and play.
Ran was envious of Rito that is playing in the water and tanning in the sun. Well she just woke up when Rito returned back after playing. Ran looked at Rito and said. "You are really good at adapting to the new place."
Rito smiled and said. "It depends on your habits. If you are too attached to your surrounding life style you cannot change quickly. To me sleeping is resting which is an essential thing and one of the things I wish is to have a happy sleep other than eating tasty food.
So it is natural that I would adapt quickly making my life comfortable at any place easily. You should learn it too. With uncle Kogoro's work about going to many places we might visit other places. The quicker you adapt the more comfortable the life would be."
Ran though about it and nodded. The doctor on the side did not know what to say. But Kogoro that just came said that Rito might be right and appreciates him for helping him informing inspector Megure while he was sleeping.
Rito nodded his head and went to take a quick wash. After all he played in the sea water for a while and his body felt sticky and salty. He felt like a dried sardine. After taking bathing he drank good amount of water to keep his body hydrated.
After a good nourishment of water and some food he started to get ready for the scream that someone died again. This time Conon is also a witness and he is for another smack on his head from Rito for running around without telling him.
"Ahaaa…."
The one that died is the former mayor. He got stabbed in the back with a knife. Naturally the doctor woman (Man) planned it well. She took the time when the forensic doctor went to Tokyo to do the autopsy on the previous dead person.
So now she once again got the chance to perform with misleading the case that would give her more chances to kill her targets. Since the communications are down she will not be reported before her plan is complete.
She has been hoping to delay the results as much as possible to gain maximum time for her revenge to complete. Rito would not stop her or point to these people to catch her before she completes her revenge because it is not necessary.
Conon punched the wall thinking that he could not catch the criminal before she killed another person. But right then he got a smack on his head and Rito dragged him to the side to talk to him. Conon finally realized the mistakes with a painful lesson.
"A kid should act like a kid. Don't mess with the things you should not mess with. If you have a problem you can tell me, and I will find a way to point it out. Don't worry. I will not take your credit. I will tell it slowly without making it into a bigger deal."
Conon was speechless at this moment after all Rito misunderstood that he was trying to solve the cases alone because he did not trust Rito. He wanted to make amends about this matter. But Rito did not listen to him.
Instead he walked away casually as if it has nothing to do with him. Technically it is the truth. Rito did not have anything to do with it and Rito would share the benefits from Conan. Even without Conon, Rito knows the plot.
Even without the plot the clues are painfully obvious. This way you can tell what is the problem without needing much brain power. Rito can only say that he did not like this kind of stupid thing.
Well he still wants to have extra insurance just in case he got a confession but don't know all the clues. So Conon is necessary in this matter to find the clues and did not get blasted by his own code of morals.
So Rito has to keep Conon for the time being. But he cannot bow down his head. So he is using moral kidnapping tactics to get Conon to cooperate with him by his own initiative. That would be best for Rito.
