Chapter 26: reprimanding Conon
"What was that for…?" Conon looked at Rito asking him why he hit him. Rito looked at Conon with anger like in those anime plots and there is even a strange elevation which Rito did not expect and looked at Conon that made him shiver.
"I told you to keep your tail between your legs and wait till I come to make your deductions. But what did you do? You are going around spraying your knowledge all over the place. Do you think you are some stupid dog that would mess around all the time?
You said you are a fan of great detective Sherlock Holmes. But why are you acting like a moron. Sherlock Holmes would consider all angles and would not leave tails behind for others to find. Do you know that Ran has almost suspected you again?
If I have not brainwashed her long ago with more words and gave you more leeway she would have already found out about your identity. You moron…. If you do this kind of thing next time I will not care about you and let Ran find out about your secret.
That would be great right. You can be a loving couple with your current situation." Rito scolded Conon taking him to outside letting him understand what he just did and the consequences of his actions.
Only then Conon actually thought of what he did. Well he did not have any answer to the questions of Rito other than saying sorry and he wanted to change his way of doing things. Rito sighed and let him go.
Kogoro did some simple investigation and finally he decided to go back and rest but along the way Conon found something and this time he did not speak about it directly instead he told Rito and asked Rito to tell.
"Uncle Kogoro, Conon and I found something strange here. It looks like more people might die and it should be around the piano…." He gave a simple explanation and Kogoro quickly caught on the important points.
At that time Kogoro ran back to the city hall and others followed. Rito did not understand why Kogoro ran back. Technically after finding this they would go there slowly after all no one would be there at night.
It is as if Kogoro ran over to find something that he would miss if it is a second late. (May be director or the writer wanted Kogoro to run to the place quickly to find the problem) Rito thought as he ran back along with Ran and Conon.
They wanted to sleep here with the corpse and the piano. Well Conon and Ran also came and Rito is also present. The old cop has given them few simple bedding and other things to use for the time being.
Rito got to the side and let them fiddle the things on their own. Soon they found that the music sheet that was left with the corpse and it was the moonlight sonata. The problem is that there is a note in it that has the problem.
They quickly came to a conclusion that this note is a dying message and they wanted to decode it. But before they could think of anything the lady (Man) doctor came over with the food. It is dinner for them.
Well she (HE) called them here and as the client she has to take care of them. She is actually doing it without revealing that she is the client. She is really intelligent. Rito did not remember the entire plot but he knows that she is the one that is actually killing.
While eating the dinner Kogoro asked doctor woman related to the late mayor Kameyama and she said that he has a weak heart and died of heart attack but his dying face has a terrified expression.
(May be you have pulled down your skirt and showed him the big banana below that shocked him to his death.) Rito thought in his heart listening to her words. But he did not say out loud at this moment.
Right when they are talking there is someone by the window and both Conon and Kogoro wanted to catch him. Rito was really speechless. Conon is a kid right now and Kogoro is a man that did not have much physical fitness and clumsy.
They wanted to jump out of the window and chase after a grown man. Well what would they do if that grown man suddenly stopped and fought back with them. If he is really a murderer then will he just run away without killing them?
These people are too stupid to become detectives. They are just lucky while playing with their lives and winning from the finger tips of the death. Rito can only sigh at them about this matter.
That night they slept here peacefully and Rito woke up early in the morning to wash up. He doesn't like to queue up at the bathroom when you have urgent requirements to vent your nature calls.
So he developed a habit of completing these things early in the morning, do some health preserving exercises and then wash up. He also put on a new set of clothes by the time inspector Megure came with his people to investigate the crime.
Rito carefully explained the situation and what they found in place of Conon. Conon on the other hand looked at the entire thing with red eyes along with Ran and female doctor. After all they are staying up most of the night.
Rito slept soundly without a problem he was sure that nothing would happen. The killer is not a psychopath. It is just a revenge story with dedicated targets. So Rito doesn't have to fear anything and slept peacefully.
After he got up they slept and only Conon stayed awake till the inspector Megure came to receive the report and finally fell asleep. Rito did not wake up Kogoro but instead cooperated with the inspector related to the case and all the locations.
