Chapter 25: punching Conon on the head…
Based on what he remembered this person here might not be a woman but a man and the client that called them here. Rito did not say much but decided to follow the plot. After all he did not remember much of the plot.
At that time their words quickly changed to know the news related to the mayor elections that would be happening soon. She also told them about the candidates that are going to participate enthusiastically.
Her name is Asai Narumi. She introduced herself late after talking for a long time about nonsense. Well she introduced herself as a doctor after Kogoro mistakenly called her a nurse.
Soon the group came to the city hall where the funeral ceremony of former mayor is being held. When Rito and others came here they noticed that there are a lot of people protesting against the current mayor for his suppression.
When they got to the waiting room Conon started to run around but Rito did not chase after him this time. Instead Rito went to the side to exit the room because he found that this building was constructed on the sea side.
Suddenly the assistant of the previous mayor came out and shouted when Ran and Conon wanted to touch the piano in the connecting room to the outside. "Don't touch that. It is a cursed piano…"
The assistant is not that professional as he started to talk without even knowing who he was talking to. He started to speak about the curse of the piano along with what happened 2 year ago that is related to the death of the previous mayor.
"It is also a full moon that day. I was out walking around the sea side and accidentally came towards this city hall where I heard the sound of piano. I was curious and came to check who is playing.
When I came over I saw that mayor Kameyama died on the piano. His heart stopped and the song I heard is the same song that Asou Keiji played when he died "The moonlight sonata". So from then on this has thought to be piano is cursed" He said with lingering fear.
Conon naturally did not believe these things and ran over to the piano and started to click few notes seeing that it is still working normally Conon thought of other things. Finally the assistant pushed them outside and closed the doors to the piano room.
When they came out they met with the previous doctor and they went to the hall where the funeral proceedings are going on. Rito looked around casually. Each country has their traditions.
But the most common thing is the priest that would come to oversee the ceremony like funerals and marriages in most places. Even at this funeral place there are undercurrents going on with small chats between the mayor candidates.
The Kogoro's group got out of the reception and went to the sea view where they sat and waited for the funeral ceremony to be completed. Rito did not have anything to do. He was really bored.
He really missed the future world where he can watch or browse the smart phone and play but here there is nothing. What can he talk with these people? There is nothing. So he bought some comics to read and something to write.
In his free time he is going to write novels to pass the time. Right then he heard the sound of piano playing which made him alert and remembered that every time this piano plays someone would die.
So Rito became alert putting his things back into his bag pack. He recognized the sound of the piano as moonlight sonata and he looked up to see the full moon that is unusually big in this anime world.
When they ran over to the piano room, Conon ran forward to push the door open and on the piano there is a person that died and he is wet with the sea water. He is Kawashima, one of the mayor candidates.
After this each has their own reactions. One has fear of their crimes haunting them as ghosts. One has real fear of ghosts. One is thinking about their death and other are in frightened situation of curse and death.
All in all, this place is lively and Rito was just a side character to watch. Also Kogoro did not ask Ran to report to the police station instead he asked Rito to do that. Well Rito is his assistant and a man, while Ran is his daughter and a woman.
It is a simple psychological decision to make this choice. Rito doesn't mind and quickly went to call over the only person staying at the police station. He is also an old man. Unfortunately he missed Kogoro being ridiculed when he introduced himself.
They thought of him as astronaut instead of a detective. Also they even though of him as some novel character like a detective in a novel. Also during this time Conon got carried away with his deduction.
Ran became slightly suspicious again. But she quickly thought that it should be because Conon is close to her father and got some detective skills. Also Conon said that his father is also a detective fanatic.
So she quickly dismissed the thought that Conon is Shinichi. Finally Rito came over and Ran started to fill in the details that Rito missed and she even told Rito about the suspicion about Conon for a moment.
After Ran went to the side Rito walked over to Conon that is still examining something and gave him a strong punch on his head when others are not looking at the situation.
"Bang"
"What was that for…?" Conon looked at Rito asking him why he hit him. Rito looked at Conon with anger like in those anime plots and there is even a strange elevation which Rito did not expect and looked at Conon that made him shiver.
