Chapter 1 - The Altar of Blood

Sometimes, the constant urge to do well, to have a better future is something that pushes most people but not me. He glanced through the window of the mini bus as it sped along the road to his home.

‎Its been a stressful week because his exam was really difficult. God knows how lucky he is for him to keep his calm and stay focused to pass. All this stress just to be a pharmacist, for a future not promised. If not for Jasmine, waiting for him at home... the very thought of her face was the only thing that had gotten him through the brutal exam week. The dream of building a safe home with her, of filling it with laughter... without that, he would have said to hell with it all long ago.

‎He walked on the quiet street of the estate opposite the state airport after coming down from the bus. With his backpack on his shoulder and his black hoodie covering his face because he hated being noticed and bombed with questions.

‎Suddenly something strange happened, the sky turned blood red, with the sun disappearing and in replace of it, stood seven gigantic black stars revolving in circles sending chills down everyone's spine on earth. The ground started shaking. 'An earthquake in Nigeria, what in hell is fucking going on', he cursed in his head, confused cause a natural disaster in Nigeria is unheard of.

‎"Jesus, Mommy what's happening", a small girl cried running to her mom's arms. The mom face paled cause whatever is happening, whatever they are seeing is just too unbelievable cause what stood there from nowhere in the distance is a huge black, gigantic pyramid that towered over the whole earth.

‎A gust of wind brush him off his feet. "What in the hell is going on", he cursed as the ground continues it's tremendous quake, when suddenly a pressure unlike anything he's ever felt in his life descend upon mankind. It's like gravity increase and the feeling of mediocrity in the vastness of things weighs in every human hearts. What stand in the sky casting a huge shadow in the world, was a gigantic eye, it size seeming unmeasurable cause everyone in the world could see it, even the blind could feel it.

‎

‎Death was not far away from that thing cause it opened it gaze, casting it on earth. A voice was heard in every human head.

‎"HUMANS", it said with authority, as the world quiver, shaking in fear. It was as if the planet 'Earth' was aware of how close it was to it destruction that it submit in submission to that terror above it.

‎"YOUR WORLD IS DOOM FOR FUSION. YOUR RACE AND EXISTENCE HAS BEEN JUDGED FOR TRIAL. FACE IT, CONQUER AND RULE YOUR NIGHTMARE AS GREAT POWER AWAIT THOSE WORTHY OF EVOLVING TO WITHSTAND THE VASTNESS OF KNOWLEDGE AND POWER ACROSS THE UNIVERSE" . He groaned, eyes tearing, his head felt like it's falling apart just from hearing the thought of that thing above. He gaze up, knees trembling from the constant pressure, as a devastating silent shook the world. The eye cast it's gaze upon his very soul and suddenly he felt a primal desire to die. It was like an invisible blade clutch at his neck. Such killing intent..

‎The pressure descended, and for a single, terrifying second, his mind went utterly blank. A cherished memory—warm and golden—was snatched from behind his eyes, leaving a cold, shapeless void in its place. The loss was so sudden and profound it felt like a physical wound, though he couldn't say what exactly was missing.

‎'What did I do to deserve this?', the thought rang in his head, but no reasonable explanation because the being above just disappeared. He breathe heavily, trying to recover his breath cause he just survived death no less.

‎"Why is my vision so blurry?", he questioned, trying to get his bearings cause of an overwhelming urge to sleep right now. He closed his eyes, his backpack falling from his arm, he collapsed on the ground..

‎"Argh", he groaned, holding his head as he stood up from the stony ground feeling the stench of death and silence in his strange surrounding. 'Where am I', the sudden thought hit him hard, cause he did not understand anything of what's going on right now. He breathed heavily, trying to steady his racing heart. A deep, irrational loneliness washed over him, a feeling that he was missing something vital, that someone important should be here. The thought was gone before he could grasp it, leaving only a dull ache of confusion atop his overwhelming fear.

‎

‎Rumble!!!, a huge lightning flash in the sky, illuminating the dark environment. Under such limited light, he noticed a few things. Firstly, he's in a deserted ruin of what seem like a cathedral before. Secondly, right now he's standing in what seem like an altar with blood pooled under his feet. A huge complex circle of runes drawn around him, like what he had imagine in those webnovels of his.

‎Occasional lightning flash by as he made up his way down the altar. A quiet chill ran down his spine, his head spinning as a sudden urge to pass out overwhelm him. "I have to get out of here. I have to... I have to..." He trailed off, the reason evaporating like smoke. Why did it feel like there was a name on the tip of his tongue, a face he desperately needed to see.

‎"I need to fucking get hold of myself", he whispered to himself, trying to steel his mind from this horrific scene while glancing down at the huge amount of blood pooled at his feet.

‎Planting his feet on the worn out marble floor, he traced the path of blood on the ground. The eerie feeling creeping on his back intensify the closer he gets to the source of everything. It was like his brain was responding to the unknown situation, urging him to turn around and run away but he need to understand his situation.

‎"This!!!, Holy Molly", his eyes widened at the sight before him. His knees gave out while he shouted in panic. What stood in front of him where people, hollowed and dried like corpse devoid of life. They all knelt down with their hands above their heads looking at the altar with reverence that causes a chill down his spine.

‎Suddenly, thier eyes opened in unison, all turned towards him. Fear unlike anything he's ever witnessed, seize him causing him to pass out, his mind done with enough strange situations.

‎The corpses all let out a wail and collapsed on the ground leaving an untold story as to what transpires..
