Chapter 9 - Beast Contract

Silver was stunned when the spear stopped without killing him. "Why didn't you finish me off?"

"You said you'd admit defeat if I broke through your 'Hellcoat,' and I did that just now." John said this as he dispersed Poseidon's Spear.

"What? You've defeated me, and I admit that! But why didn't you kill me?!" Silver was surprised by John's actions.

"Why should I kill you… When I could make you my pet instead?" A wicked smile appeared on John's exhausted face.

John hadn't expected Silver's power to be this great — that's why he wanted to make Silver his pet.

"You think you can make the King of Dragons your pet?! I'd rather die than submit!" Silver was furious, yet too weak to move or attack.

"Are you seriously choosing death? Because if you refuse to become my pet, I'll kill you right now." John's voice was cold and serious.

"Is he being serious? He really wants to make me his pet? He's… not going to kill me?" Silver thought to himself, stunned. He had assumed John was just bluffing to make him beg for his life, but now he saw John was completely serious.

"I could accept his offer… and wait for another chance to kill him later." Silver decided internally.

"I accept your offer," Silver said aloud.

Why shouldn't he? It would save his life — was pride really worth more than survival?

"Then you have no objection to this skill — 'Beast Contract.'"

Light threads surrounded Silver, binding him as the terms of the contract entered his mind. He had never seen a skill like this before, but by now, John's endless skills no longer surprised him.

The contract's terms were simple:

– He could not attack or conspire against John.

– He could not harm humans in any way.

– He must aid John against the other disasters.

– Once all the disasters were defeated, he would be freed from the contract and regain his freedom.

Silver agreed to these terms. He hadn't expected John to include a clause for his release — without it, he would have chosen death instead.

John cast a healing spell on Silver, closing all his wounds. "It seems we're done here… I'll rest… for a bit."

Immediately, John collapsed on his back. He had reached his limits long ago — his mind damaged by the pressure, though not irreparably thanks to his regeneration skill.

"I guess… I need rest too," Silver muttered. Though healed, he was still mentally and physically drained from the fight.

Hours later, John awoke to find Silver already awake.

"Good. You're up. I have some questions," John said, his tone serious.

"Before that, I have one for you," Silver interrupted.

"What is it?" John asked in a deep voice.

"Didn't you say you could defeat me in five minutes? Why didn't you just do it?" Silver asked, genuinely puzzled.

"You actually believed that? If I really could, why would I need you to become by pet?" John scoffed, mocking Silver's thought.

In truth, Silver had already suspected that — but he wanted to confirm it. The answer eased his mind, if Johncould have killed him in five minutes, Silver would never have had a chance once he became free.

"Do you have any other questions? If not, I think it's my turn," John said.

"What do you want to know? I'll answer what I wish to answer — not everything," Silver replied coldly. His pride remained even after the contract.

"I know. First, where did you come from?"

John had suspected Silver's intentions when offering the contract — that's why he included the clause for freedom after the disasters were defeated.

"I don't know anything about the others… but I can tell you about my people. We come from "the realm of Dragni."

Silver truly hadn't known about the existence of other disasters until John mentioned them — so he wasn't lying.

"The realm of Dragni… is it different from Earth's realm? Scientists once theorized that monsters come from other realms— it seems Silver's words confirm that theory," John thought internally. Controlling even a single S-rank creature was nearly impossible, but this proved that the monsters truly came from other realms.

John then told Silver about the other disasters— their names, forms, and powers — hoping to learn more from him. But Silver's reply surprised him.

"I've never heard of such beings before. The realm of Dragni is ruled by dragons. There are a few humans and animals to serve as food, but no monsters like the ones you described exist in my world."

That meant the other disasters didn't come from Dragni — their realms were different !! , not one shared.

"Then why did you come here?" John asked his next question.

"Our realm no longer had enough to feed my people. There were countless battles among us — dragons killing each other over food and water. While I was trying to solve this problem, someone appeared before me. He offered to transfer me and my people to another realm rich in resources. Of course, he wasn't an ordinary being — just being able to stand before me proved that. He showed skills equal to, or perhaps greater than yours !!.

So I agreed. My people couldn't endure starvation any longer."

Silver, after all, was the Dragon King — powerful yet wise, seeking a better life for his kind.

"Someone?!" John's eyes widened. "What did this person look like?!"

Shock filled his voice — who would want to send such beings here? Who was behind a plan to annihilate all humanity?!
