You'll find Hayden's character being cold and warm, generally confused, if I may say so myself.
It's just a reflection of his personality. I was trying to create a kind of intensity in person hood by imitating real human flaws.
As you dive further into the story, you'll realize why he appeared the way he did.
As for Stephanie, I honestly wasn't trying to imitate any real flaws when I created her. Just the intelligence aspects. Every decision she made in the story wasn't planned (I never expected them. As I dived in, a lot was unravelling even for me ( ╹▽╹ ).
